Hi GS... I don't play DCS but love the dogfight videos... I am a professional model maker and maybe a good idea is for a virtual tour/View of the aircraft for reference material for model makers.... The DCS digital models are very good and accurate... So I think there is a good market for this version
A PGM value of 1 will much faster and easier with the addition of TDOA. This will allow a flight of Vipers with HTS to datalink together to triangulate and geolocate a threat emitter much faster and more precisely. Where a PGM1 is most valuable is to cue the TGP for setting up an attack location SPI, threat identification, and real-time BDA. We are in final, internal testing of this.
These tutorial videos are very helpful. Its hard to find good videos that are informative and not full of drabble. Even the little arrows in your other video's showing when you see someone on radar ect are nice. Really helps teach while also delivering fun content!
The F-16 is a SEAD monster. This video shows perfectly the amount of work for the pilot in engaging different tasks. Also this shows the great survivability of the F-16. A superior air frame to play with!
Really is a fantastic bird! Imagine being a Pakistani pilot (or any country that doesn't make their own badass planes) and being given the proverbial keys to a F-16, the hot-rod sports car of the sky. It's like driving a convertible with that beautiful bubble canopy, and the power to weight ratio and agility that would satisfy any pilot's wildest desires.
Boggles the mind at how complicated it must be flying these jets in real combat. Fighter pilots are cut from a different cloth, for sure. Great tutorial, GS. 👍🏼
Thank you GS. Having not played DCS in ages and finally having some time over the bank holiday weekend just gone here in the UK. I decided to set up a very basic mission to learn some SEAD techniques and HARM deployment in a spooky parallel to this one. Thanks for sharing your mission and for the 10% off the Persian Gulf map which I decided to pick up to expand the areas I can fly in. Keep the videos coming, enjoying all your content and really appreciate the tutorials and mission files you are doing.
my pleasure, really glad to hear you're enjoying your DCS experience, shoutout to ED for the discounts, the credit is all theirs. Very generous of them to give this to the community.
U can set mavericks to area correlate, and use HTS pod to get a general location of a SAM system, then refine the location with ur FLIR pod. As long as the mavericks are properly bore-sighted, they should be accurately sighted to the FLIR picture. U can then fire the mavericks well beyond 8 miles (or outside the LZ) cause the maverick's area correlate mode doesn't rely on locking on a signature. So u can fire the mavericks at 30K feet as a pretty good DEAD strategy on short range systems.
I’ve been wanting to get into DCS for so long, but being in rural colorado, my internet connection is garbage at best. So I just enjoy watching videos of DCS
Alright, I have been following your channel for years and I really enjoyed you sharing this kind of scenario with us. Honestly I think these kind of videos are great for bringing new people into the fold. I'm not new and I still enjoyed myself and fired up this mission as soon as I finished the video. Love the channel dude, keep them coming and safe flying out there.
GS is like a realistic version of maverick. extremely skilled fighter ace but with more realistic tactics, maneuvers, more realistic scenarios and such
You did it! I didn't go for F-16, but I used GSF18 and bought the module + Supercarrier as my first ED purchase. Then I migrated my few modules from Steam DCS. Damage is done. I feel whole again.
Loving these somewhat tutorial style videos. Really great to see what you are looking at to get vital info. Also seeing navigation within the cockpit and knowledge you provide on the weapons systems you are using/being used on you is Immensely helpful for newer players like myself. Currently I have >50 hrs and these videos keep me motivated to continue to try to learn my aircraft. Would love to see some videos like this on perhaps some more complex aircraft such as the F-18. Love the hard work and uploads, keep it coming!
Coming from VTOL VR this looks familiar yet much more complex. These videos are making me want to buy DCS and a HOTAS. Obviously subbed a long time ago, this channel is gold.
VTOL is great for understanding the fundamentals of avionics and weapon systems in general. Very fun to play. I always come back to have some more arcade relaxed sessions. But nothing beats DCS in VR (which requires a beefy system sadly and preferably a Hotas).
This is the kind of video I like the most: Multirole mission. Btw, GS, i just checked your store, and if I may say, I would really be interested in a F-16 Viper shirt, similar to the F-22 or Tomcat options you have there :)
Great stuff as usual! Love this new kind of vids, that changes from the dogfights as those tend to be a bit repetitive. Need to use the AOA cue on landing though, that was a tad fast 😂
It has to to be terrifying as a pilot when the enemy has a superior aircraft in war. You knocked down their air defenses! Now you can move freely and provide support from above. Incredible.
Successful SEAD, successful ingress and egress of the strike package... along with 4 bandits downed as a single element the whole time? USAF Distinguished Flying Cross for sure! You are such a sweet and kind man for teaching the new players like this, you'd have been a star weapon system instructor no matter what branch you chose. Calm even tones, no superfluous details, you can tell them that the lights were nav and anti-collision lights at a future time, stacking their knowledge building as training evolutions progress; well done Growling!
It is a great idea to share your mission: Thx a lot GS, always a pleasure to watch you dancing in the sky and now we can try your mission! Greetings from France^^
Deploy speed brakes to 250 knots, at 250kt's deploy gear and immediately start retracting speed brakes, guide in as GS instructed then hold 10-15 degree nose up attitude upon landing, hold it there as best you can until you are near 100 knots, then tap wheel brakes to drop the nose. Once nose is on the ground pull back hard on the stick and hold, then tap or hold wheel brakes to decelerate quickly. Adjust as needed to maintain 20-30 knots until your turn off.
A little tip for getting good triangulation is turn roughly 60 degrees from the target and fly straight to make it as easy as possible for the computer to triangulate the location.
Thank you! Just bought the f16. New to dcs. Don’t know how to turn on any of the weapons. I really like this simple missions based tutorial. Have to go buy the PG map.
Awesome video and mission. The viper is my favorite, second would probably be the hornet but I have a feeling once RAZBAM releases the strike Eagle I’m gonna have a new favorite lol
In general, it's better to target the track radar instead of the search radar (i.e. shoot the numbers on the HAD, instead of the letters). You'll usually get PGM2 faster on a track radar, because it's sending out more bursts, allowing you to triangulate it faster. Also many SAM sites can still shoot you without a search radar, just not as easily. If you disable the track radar the site cannot guide a missile and will not fire.
Oh, and it's personal preference, but if I don't have a GCI feeding me bogey contacts, I keep the HSD active on one MFD, because the RWR has huge blind spots above and below the aircraft.
@@davidemartorana4708 , 😀 It will take me like three months of salary to buy a very good pc and the whole set if I get my dream job but I won't have have time to play anyway with that job. 🙁
Its interesting because this whole time i thought HARMs just kinda knew where the radar signature was coming from because it was homing in on the radiation coming from the radar site. Its great knowledge to know that even 'smart' missiles take a second to figure out their targets.
Ur correct that they can also do that, the old version of the HARM, the shrike, did that exact thing but using that technique means you don’t know range to target so it’s not uncommon to have those missiles fall short
This is my new favorite thing to watch. Look forward to it everyday. Never thought watching a simulation would be so interesting, but it is. If i had this to do in college i would have flunked out. Is this PC based?
Hey, GS: How much easier-and effective-would it be to fly and win with a two-seat F-15E? That was a super-good and thorough walk-through that revealed how incredibly complicated air-to-air and air-to-ground missions can be. There is clearly a lot for pilots of single-seat multirole fighters to learn and it’s no wonder that well-trained American pilots can kick ass when battling the armed forces of developing nations.
Ok hear me out. Do a custom mission just like Doug Masters' mission in Iron Eagle. Ingress below radar, take out defenses, cluster runway, LAND, pick up a backseater, take back off, dogfight, fly home.

This bird is devastating for SEAD. I hated this plane when I was first introduced to the Air Force. Even all my years through flight sims and still did not care for it. From F16 Facon (DOS) to Falcon 4. Since the DCS release I can get enough of it. But I take into consider that it was the A models I did not care for. So relieved that GS didn't have to put up with the SA-13's from 'Behind Enemy Lines'. Those things would've probably chased him all the way home.
Please more of this content, the way you explain what's going on in this format makes things a whole lot easier for the novice flyer.
