@@marcus760 once you get used to the mods ai on medium, hard seems easy, the more you play the better you get, my advice, while in the galaxy map building buildings and units, pause your game, so you can queue up units and buildings, look into some of your week points, or even plan some attacks on the ai, all while the game is paused and the ai is also paused :)
As empire - step one.... combine all fleets step two - .... spam money buildings and always get the next tech stage as soon as it comes up.... step 3 - steam roll.
I think remake is as close as your gonna get, any remake by ea has been complete and utter garbage, and I’d hate to see the gem of my childhood to be tainted by their nasty micro transactions (which I’m sure ea will find SOMETHING to put micro transactions on)
My strategies for the Factions are: For the Empire: -Mass produce the Stormtrooper -Gather your fleet in the early game and start your conquest quickly -Death Star For the Rebels: -Spam Raids, X wings and Y wings For the Consortium -Corrupt everything -Use all your heroes in raids(they are undetectable)
I'm playing the latest version of Fall of the Republic and that mod is an absolute blast! Modding community has kept this game going long past i's shelf-life.
When developing makes the next gen games more laid back and cinematic focusing on the buildup (almost movie like) giving the player time to get settled! For me thats where its at! Everything else follows!

I was browsing around and saw this game again. I had brought it years ago but couldn't download it. I got it within the last 3 years, but barely touched it. This is a good guide to helping me get into this game. I love RTS, and i love Star Wars. So thanks for this video ^~^
Dude! I literally just re-downloaded it again. The past 2 days I’ve been playing this a lot. Its good fun especially if you get mods. Currently running a Republic at war mode
I allways loved how sometimes I won the most silly and absolute most impossible battles ... like winning a battle with a transporter, or a tantive cruiser constantly attacking till shortly its schields are depleted, running for cover, and then harassing them again, such classics. :D Or when I am on planets with safespots and they can't kill me off for good because hovercraft and co.
the one issiue i have with most of the bigger mods is that they turn the game into something way more complex, but do a bad job acctually properly explaining to the player how the mechanics work.
That and I've person had to edit mods myself because some of them are so big not everything gets balanced as it should. Remake is the main example, their Keldabe is so weak yet is costs more then ships that overpower it in combat.
the only rts i played up till a month ago was a game called rusted warfare, i stoped playing empire at war because it was more advance then i thought, after seeing this im going to try it again (i sadly got the gog ver)
There are soe total conversion but I tend to find most mods are Space Mods, example is the only 40k conversion Fire in the Sky which is the Space mod and the factions are Imperial Chaos and Necrons.
I wish the 40K mods were more developed, most got abandoned early on but I do think that with the recent resurgence of EAW - more will be developed in the future.

This was an AWESOME game. The only problem I had with this game is that the story campaign(s) contradicted the movies, which made it difficult - for me - to pinpoint to where the game could fit in the (Legends) continuity. Doesn't mean I didn't had fun with it though. I do hope another RTS like this one is going to be made soon (preferable only space battles; with ground battles only being mandatory for story missions).
Cool video, to the point and well structured. Only thing i don't know is how you come to the conclusion of Y-Wings being superior to Tie Bombers, when Y-Wings have only 75% of the firepower and around 2/3 of the HP. Don't think a 2-second soft disable compensates that. What do you think?
I based my statement off the mutliplayer games I had back in the day. Statistically yes, the Y-Wing is weaker, however the stun ability really can halt an advance. Maybe it's just my luck with the unit.

All of this is pretty useless when you're going against even a semi competent consortium player. "Build SSD, build 15 ISDS, build missile cruisers. Get rekt by ships which complete bypass shields."

Compound that with the bonuses that corruption gives, and you have a faction that you can only win against if the other player is brain dead. Hardmode Enabled (or any EAW veteran for that matter) do you have any advice on how to get started? As a complete newcomer to this game with its community of new mods and having never played before, where should I look? I don't know a thing about how to manage a galaxy, or which units are good against what. This is all very overwhelming, and this video is the closest I've seen to what I'm looking for (the in-game tutorial isn't enough to get going). I know this is an old game but is there an extended guide to teach galactic conquest for young padawans such as myself? Also is the original campaign a good way to learn? Personally I'd jump straight into fall of the republic but I get destroyed everytime. Thanks!
yeah, I actually recommend getting started with the campaigns first. As fall of the republic is very aggressive. The game it self is actually very simple compared to other games, no gimmick mechanics, no politics, you just build, fight and manage your credits while doing so.
Do you know if heroes can die permanently in empire at war forces of corruption? I can’t find my c3p0 and he’s nowhere on the hero list. Perhaps he died one too many times? I can’t see him recharging.

I used to EaW, & FoC many years ago! Loved FoC! But, still to this day, I'm mad!! I won the battle for Alderaan, & destroyed the Death Star! But, somehow Alderaan was still destroyed!! Not fair!! I know it's not "to lore", but why not be able to save the planet??

Fighters and bombers are borderline useless if the enemy has even just one corvette. This isn’t a big deal when playing as the empire, because your fighters are free. But when you’re the Rebels, your starting units are mostly just X-wings and Y-wings, while the Empire starts off with like 10 Tarten cruisers, you’ll end up throwing your keyboard at the wall. And never use fighters or bombers again. The Empire AI literally sends their Tartens through your line to take out your starfighters right at the start.
@@MatthewChenault I see what you mean, but by the time the gunship destroys the tartan, it usually has enough time to take out several squadrons of fighters/bombers. Not to mention that gunships cost twice the amount of credits to that of a tartan.
the game is easy as fuck just invest into economy then create a fleet for every front scout for the weakest planets then attack if ai tries to take it back hold on ground if the ai destroys spaces station just have a bigger fleet

There's a pause button in the galactic map and a game speed slider in individual matches. Hope I can help.

With a space station you need to throw your units at the enemy. Do everything you can to keep the garrison bay safe.

I've been playing this game since 2013, Disk version. Gonna buy the steam version to play mods.

The empire campaign is non-canon.
The rebel campaign and the FOC campaign are canon within the EU.

They loose the ability to use their Unit Ability and they become invisible to you while located there, unless they start shooting.
Okay, this is the 3rd person to say raids can be done with 3 units but I can only ever get 2 down

Does the gold version support mods?
Steam Gold Pack yes, the OG and GOG versions only support old mods. I recommend getting the Steam Version.

That will solve your Tartan problem.
