but both of those devices are like, anywhere from half again as expensive to more than *twice* as much so of course they're going to run better? I don't see how that's a gripe (':
My rp4pro trigger just broke yesterday. Lasted almost a year. Thankfully still in warranty, and they've sent a replacement part already. I really want one of these but I still can't decide what one to get. Thanks for the video and your insight. It did help me think of more things to compare and consider
I disagree with a lot of your opinions( but those are just more opinions haha). I like the circular cut out around the buttons with a lighter purple as it add 'accents or color variation.'. The screen ration is perfect, and you can handle black borders with proper overlays or borders. more internal storage and better chip would have been nice.
Related to your Gripe #1, it mildly annoys me that the circles around the face buttons and d-pad aren't symmetrical. The circle around the d-pad has a smaller diameter and that kind of erks me a little bit. Obviously I don't have one to play with in person; but, based off of reviews and knowing myself, that's pretty much the only shortcoming I can see and I can ignore it. Fun fact: Look at a Nintendo GBA SP and you'll notice that the screen is off center. They're all made that way. You're welcome.
Great video, subscribed. I appreciate the honesty. Can you explain further why the internal memory is a problem for dual boot? I'm not highly technical but I want to mainly run Linux.
It's less about being a problem and more about laziness. You can swap an Android SD card and a Linux SD card but if it had more storage you could simply just have all of your Android stuff live on the device itself and never have to swap cards
@@deadfred69 Oh yeah, I get it now. I would prefer to have both as well even if I'm planning full Batocera. Some of these android specific games look cool. Thanks for the reply
I'm in two minds wether to buy the rp5 16:9 or the rp4pro... but then 4.7inch screen is a bit too small i think, plus the 5.5 oled on the rp5 is what's swaying me... I just can't be bothered with the drastically long wait to get one lol. I know if I order the rp4pro it will be here within 2 weeks at most. I just don't know. Plus performance wise between the d1100 and the snapdragon 865 its near identical.
Definitely go with the 5. The 4 Pro with the smaller LCD screen and big bezels is nowhere near is nice as this. The price difference is definitely worth it.
@@Connor-Reece raw numbers performance between the two chips is meaningless - the performance and support difference comes from the snapdragons better driver support - have a look at real world tests between the two there's a definite non-marginal increase! (:
Thank god select and start are far away from each other now. I swear the amount of frustration it caused me while playing Tekken 5 almost made me remap the controls. I had remap them anyway because well.. I’m playing King.
the reason is 100% to capture the psvita aesthetic (: have a look at them side by side there was definitely a 'i want this too look like a vita' comment made somewhere in the design process
To be clear it CAN play a large swath of Switch and WiiU BUT it's just not as good as my Pocket S and Odin 2 Pro have been.
Wii u is still in betta
true comment.
But you dont consider the valvue prospect.
@kev1310 this is true

OMG you're brave 😂. We copped a lot of flack for mentioning some apparent review-unit faults...
‘The faults that Retroid said the units would have only in pre release did indeed have those faults’ 🤪
and this is why they have excellent customer service.
😁

Unless u can sell ur rp4pro for $180-190 its not worth the upgrade, its not a huge change, id wait for the rp6

I love hearing everyone's take on this amazing handheld. Was there anything you would change or improve?
If you want a dual screen, there's Ayaneo flip DS. Price is high but that's one of the powerful dual screens at the moment
Yes and I have it and it's awesome 👌
@deadfred69 nice. I'll subscribe for that 👍🏼
yeah check out my review of it from earlier this year

what they need to do for it to be perfect is make a plus version with the gen 2 and better storage I could see paying more for that

If you go smaller than the 5 anyways why not consider the Mini? Also the 4Pro is still a great handheld!
@ the 5 mini is way too small of a screen for me haha. I’m just at a crossroads what to decide lol

The real question king or armor King
@@deadfred69 King. He has more fun chain throws and they are more complex than AK. AK is closer to rushdown than a grappler
The purple is nice! I would probably suggest getting a better larger/more powerful device, then getting like Miyoo Mini for light emulation, imo.
I totally agree on the buttons not being seamless like the Mini. Odd design choice.
there must be a reason I am sure but its unfortunate...Thanks for the input

That Capital One commercial sounded too real
Yes I am worried I am getting too good with these fake intros
@deadfred69 Great video keep it up
I'm glad I canelled my rp5 order and bought a gently used switch instead.
for switch yes. a hard modded oled switch goes for about $350 overseas on AliExpress.
I was thinking this should be better than t820. Even the RP4 Pro should beat that out.
no french translation damagable but thx for video ;)
Instead of the pair I got the rg406v and a black rp5 Instead
That's also a great combo
I bought the pair
It does play switch and Wii u you need turnip drivers
yes it does but not as completely as my Pocket S or Odin 2.
Boohooo
You're dead.Fred! :)))
