    As a catalyst: keep your eyes open to the USDA reports on acres planted this spring vs. 2019-21. Costs are through the roof and there will be a percentage that choose not to plant for financial reasons. If it's significant (perhaps as low as 15% fewer acres) those grocery bills will skyrocket.
    When the general public cannot afford to feed their family, there will be widespread violence. Certainly, lesser developed countries will be hit hardest, but at this point even a slight unbalance will tip this melting pot over into the fire.

    • @WolmanLykos
      @WolmanLykos 2 роки тому +7

      Speaking as someone who has worked in the grocery industry 10+ years it can take *LESS* then that, there will still be food . . . .for a little while you'd be surprised how much stores throw away when your not looking. Though yes the price will skyrocket.
      Like there is enough to partially restock shelves going bad being thrown out on the regular as a 'cost of doing business' this is largely because American [i can only speak for the USA here btw] customers expect what are really exotic foods from all over to be available to them at all times.
      A 15 or 20 gallon bucket with a few holes drilled and some good soil can get you far [and save money for other preps] potatoes are nutrient dense and varied in nutrients and easy to cook even with just a campfire and tin foil. Oh no its 60-90 days from seed to potato! SO go grab a 5 pound bag and plant a few every time you buy one. Soon enough you not only won't be needing to buy them you will have extras.
      Don't have land? You can do this at an apartment on your balcony or porch. I always advocate for every prepper to grow *SOMETHING* and if nothing else at least potatoes.
      Hope this helped! I might be able to shed some light on supply chain logistics pre and "post" covid times : 3

      @@WolmanLykos This is an excellent point to have some level of self-sustainment. The concern is for the majority of others who are not prepared, and who cannot afford to pay the higher prices. They *will* go looking for money/food to feed themselves and their families. Guess who their target will be...
      The shelves may not go bare, but with grocery bills up significantly (double or more) there's very little room left to absorb even higher prices in most budgets. When you combine our current inflation with a reduction in food supplies, basic survival costs will affect the whole of our society.

      @@YouveBeenMiddled They steal. From the stores shoplifting just goes waaaayyyy up.

      PDW GANG!

    • @BenfromFlux
      @BenfromFlux 2 роки тому +6

      Everyone says that about Flux, but my intent has always been to design the best PDW. The best Personal Defense Weapon - for everyone, not something niche at all.
      Niche maybe that it’s not a standard handgun or a rifle, but the handgun is certainly not the best tool for defense, and a rifle makes you a target, precluding that.
      I assume B&T had somewhat similar thinking - the name starts with Universal, the opposite of niche.
      As awesome as B&T is, I encourage you to check out the Raider at some point. The USW for P320 is cool and is smaller than the Raider, but has design issues, practically half the capacity, and is slower/requires two hands to deploy.
      If you ever get the chance to shoot them side by side, run some drills, test them out. Proof is in the pudding. 🤙

    • @rustywolf6813
      @rustywolf6813 2 роки тому +1

      @@BenfromFlux yeah, I've been on the fence about trying one. One thing I like about the USW is that I can use normal P320 holsters with my Streamlight TLR-2. I just carefully cut out the section that the folding stock would hit. Means that I can holster the USW easily, vs other platforms.
      It's a double edge sword. B&T is primitive and simple- because of that, it gives options but doesn't have some nice frills. The Flux has all the bells and whistles, but larger and more complex in holsters and stuff.
      I couldn't agree more though, I wish the USW would sling it's stock out by spring or something. I loosened mine a bit with some filing. Easy to sling out now, but still not auto, lol.

    • @BenfromFlux
      @BenfromFlux 2 роки тому +2

      @@rustywolf6813 That’s cool, I didn’t know that. Are the holsters still strong and is it still retained well?

      @rustywolf6813 2 роки тому +2

      @@BenfromFlux yeah, I actually liked your original Glock brace, lol. But I get it, market dictates and people want all the bells and whistles.
      Yeah, the Kydex doesn't seem to give at all. I had to slightly heat up where the TLR is for more retention grab, but no biggie. If you want, I can send a pic of the holster to you. I just realized you created the Flux, DUH!!! LOL. Maybe it can help in making a holster for it?
      I'm into wierd stuff and making things work. I'm that guy, lol. From Dual Fuel Propane/gas Jeeps to 357 Mag bolt actions sending 245 Grain slugs quieter than my 300 Blk Out. I tinker alot. Thousands of dollars to answer questions nobody asks, that's my gig.

    Don't take this as ill spirited criticism - you are mostly a guntuber and I get that. You spent most of your video on the thing you had better hope you will be doing the least.
    Most of us cannot move urban to rural without sacrifice. We left the inner ring MPLS/St Paul suburbs when the BLM stuff started to cause us to change our driving routes about 4 years ago. We took big income hits. Our income was cut in half at least. We dropped down to one car, a very small house, almost never eating out or drinking and eating low cost stuff at home. Thermostat is set low. Etc. One of the biggest advantages is a much more monolithic culture and politics of people in rural Wyoming. There were no riots here and the small towns didn't shut down (other than the schools) due to COVID. I have found that the closer it seems we are to stressful times the less time and money I am spending on firearms and firearm training. Instead, we are diving into gardening, chickens, water storage and filtering and other non-fighting related preps. We are finding our modest 18x16 greenhouse to be quite useful in getting crops in early and probably extend them in the fall. Our biggest weakness is how unsocial we are. We need to start networking with our neighbors soon or we'll have little chance security wise.

      Most of us just don't have the ability to leave; it's tough. we have a career.

    • @vicnighthorse
      @vicnighthorse 2 роки тому +1

      @@innercityprepper We had actually first checked out from the urban lifestyle and ambitions when we went sailing for six years in the pacific. I went from an IT dept manager to mostly a mechanic, electrician, fisherman, sailor that lived so modestly that I didn't replace clothes until they were unrepairable (usually from UV damage). We even fished the poor central American way with just a spool of line an no pole or reel. It was that experience that made the perceived 'negatives' of rural living seem modest. On the ocean, your full time job is not dying. The safety net from civilization is so tenuous that it is downright ethereal at times. Living through a terrifying storm where you and your boat take damage that only you yourself are there to repair either is very life affirming/changing and a sort of thing that most urbanites never experience or even understand. The very tough life we had on the ocean was the best time of my life by far.

      @@BrassFacts I imagine with hyperinflation coming along with 15 other world altering events that coincide with it we will likely never be done prepping.
      My current goal (thanks to your video) is to get a glock and start training with it. Cuz while 2 AR’s is super great , the reality is that I’ll likely always be CCW’ing the glock not the AR and hope with all my might that EDC’ing AR’s doesn’t become the norm ! ☠️

    A kind of niche prep thing: get a reliable midsize diesel truck or suv, get it converted to be able to run on vegetable oil, then get clean drums and fill them for free from local restaurants. Far as I recall it wont matter if the oil is rancid or not, itll still burn in the motor. you can still use diesel fuel, but itll also keep your fuel from being as attractive to others since in all likelihood no one else will have a vehicle that can use it.

    As someone with ~$30/wk for tacky stuff, it is doable to prep smartly. Although 10k rnds per cal= $0.50/rnd(5.56)×10000= $5000+tax= $100/wk. Per caliber. To do in one year, you're looking at 25% of a 100k/yr salary for 556, 762, 9mm, 6.5/etc. My household is significantly below that with two full time jobs (both management level) and more than 4 calibers used. NV, ceramics, $2k guns all are off the table. Scavenger perk is gonna be where it's at unless we have a 5yr economic boom.

    My personal city/in-town EDC that I’ve been using for about two years now is a Mystery Ranch Urban Assault 18L with the following items;
    1x Kryptek Koldo jacket
    1x Keith titanium canteen
    2x CELOX Z-Fold gauze
    2x RAT tourniquet
    1x Small pack of Wet Ones (anti microbial)
    1x Vanquest RFID wallet
    1x iPhone & cable
    1x EarPod Pro’s
    1x apartment & mail keys
    1x Sillcock key
    2x pens
    2x pencils
    1x black Sharpie
    1x Bic lighter (ExoTac orange fire sleeve)
    1x laminated local map
    1x Rite in the Rain XR35 notebook
    1x custom first aid & boo-boo kit
    1x Petzl e+LITE headlamp & spare battery
    3x Ziplock bags (1 gallon)
    1x 350lbs bankline (15 feet)
    2x Quest bars, Snicker’s bars if I feel frisky
    Nothing is camouflage, nothing screams mall-ninja, no tacticool webbing etc. Just a regular black bag that anyone carries with them to work or whatever.
    I can open the bag and show the entire content without looking weird/suspicious, maybe the canteen will raise an eyebrow but that’s it. Just tell them it’s because it’s lighter than a plastic bottle AND it doesn’t crack…it’s not a lie so 🤷🏼‍♂️
    Very light (just under 14lbs including water) and easy to carry (walk at least 6.2 miles every day with it), big enough to add extra items like a spare shirt, reflective vest, another canteen etc…
    For the colder months I carry the exact same pack but the 21L version…exactly the same gear with the addition of merino wool gloves, merino wool top & bottom base layer and 2x pairs of merino wool socks.
    Unfortunately; due to local laws and ordinances it is NOT legally allowed to carry a firearm such as, just as an example mind you, a G19 and a spare 17 round magazine in a IWB kydex holster. Again, the same goes for a knife/blade so I have my two keys on a titanium carabiner with a #10 stainless surgical blade on it with a spare blade in my boo-boo kit.
    Check out the bag(s) on Amazon or something - very well made, high quality and a great bang for the buck.

    • @ninjasquirrels

      I should add that I have other gear like nitrile gloves, silicone mini bide (for hygiene and first aid), 4 little packs of multivitamin drink mixes, some zip-stitch, couple of N-95 masks, alcohol wipes, titanium tweezers etc in my personal first aid boo-boo kit.
      One very important thing I forgot to include in my list above, my little Brunton 5x monocular for viewing at a distance…knowing what is ahead in a potentially bad situation could mean life or death.

    Civil Unrest does have certain triggers. Food price inflation is one of those triggers. Food price inflation is usually triggered by increases in the costs of fossil fuels as they're a keystone commodity.
    Unrest in Argentina followed a peak and decline in their fuel production. Unrest in the former soviet union (and satellite countries) in the 90s followed a Russian oil peak in the late 80s.
    Guess when US oil production peaked?

    I've always felt the same way about guns/preparedness as I feel about wearing a seatbelt. Am I going to crash? Hopefully not, but it happened before. Is someone going to hit me? Probably not, but it has happened before. Why risk my life just because most of the time I'm not actually at risk? Am I going to get jumped? Probably not, but it happens. Is there going to be a shooter active in my area? Probably not, but you get the picture. If we only prepared for the most likely ways we are going to die or become hurt, then a lot more people would get hurt everyday.
