Very intersting, i'm aware of this being an issue and believe IUA have released a dealer bulletin on the matter just recently... I have a 2022 MU-X with ARB Bullbar and All Terrain tyres fitted by the dealer pre delivery. A wheel alignment was done before handing me the keys. 26k km later, no tyre wear issues, maybe i got lucky... good to know this product is now available however in case i need it one day. Thank you!
Don't think its luck, I've done 30k kms on original tyres with no wear issues (dmax), had lift (no uca either) bullbar.. Had alignment done after bullbar
So, why doesn’t Isuzu recognize this product as a solution to improve their vehicles and do a retrofit recall or offer a rebate for owners? You would sell more product!
Brisbane Isuzu inspected my steering knuckles at last service (40k) on 21 Dmax and advised there is nothing wrong with them, they are working as designed and no recall or service bulletin has been issued about any problem. But they have no issue if I want to upgrade the UCA and steering knuckles with an aftermarket solution!
I love my DMAX but geez Isuzu have some serious design issues.inner guards cracking, poor CV angles, dodgy turbos, squeeling manual gearbox, this steering knuckle issue. Might have to get something else when I upgrade..
Why hasn't a class action been filed for this issue? Why should I pay $2,500 to fix this design problem? I am a BT50 owner and I have now chewed though 4 sets of tyres at the front, This includes a set of BF Goodrich. Mazda are trying to blame me because I have upgraded suspension. Which, I installed to counter this problem in the first place before this issue was revealed. I have evidence of wear before mods to the ute, but still no care from Mazda. I don't understand why everyone is letting these guys get away with this?
Report to ACCC. Class action we will get not much at all. ACCC the manufacturers will be up against the federal government and their resources. They must provide a permanent fix, it is the law in regards to this.
I’ve owned a Xterrain for nearly 4 years and had no issues at all with uneven tyre wear. Moreover, a poll was done recently on a FB Isuzu group and 60% said they were having no issues. A wheel alignment specialist told me recently the reason people are having issues is because many people doing wheel alignments don’t know what they are doing.
Hi biglap, Isuzu themselves came out to confirm and released a bulletin that yes these vehicles suffer from excessive bump steer, they tried to release a fix for this as well (wheel alignment specs) however wheel alignment specialists, including ourselves quickly pointed out this was just moving the issue to another part of the tyre. Just searching in any FB owners page there is hundreds if not thousands of posts over the last year of people complaining about tyre wear issues with this model. If 40% of owners are experiencing it then it's a problem.
Hey mate im from the Philippines can you give us a an alignment specs to those who cant buy those steering knuckle at atleast to minimize the wear and tear problem
Fair enough. But if we fit these knuckles, it will give Isuzu a reason to reject any potential associated future warranty claim, and you guys (if you've fitted them ) won't have a bar of us either, which seems to be pretty common across the aftermarket accessory industry. 🤔
We would warranty the steering knuckle itself if it was the cause of failure or had a failure. Generally like most aftermarket items the manufacturer of the aftermarket product carries the warranty of what's replaced and the stock items remains under warranty with the vehicle manufacturer. I can't speak however for what the vehicle manufacturer's do when trying to claim warranty on their parts.
The elephant in the room remains that if Mazda and Isuzu are aware of this isdue, why has there not been a recall to fix this? Better yet, why are Mazda and Isuzu still priducing these vehicle with the same steering knuckles on them?
Is there any advantage of the Super Pro Steering Knuckle over the Munji steering rack relocation that claims it fixes the bump steer issue but at a much cheaper price?
Yes. The SuperPro steering knuckle just fixes the issue with no negatives, Its a plug and play solution that properly corrects steering angles and is completely legal with 3rd party engineering testing / sign off. The basic fix munji offers, isn’t a "full fix" and the welded option is a permanent mod to the suspension. NVH is increased as well. The munji fix drops the rack, so if you are offroad and somehow have a big drop in or big hit your steering rack is more prone to damage. SuperPro considered a similar approach, but the negatives outweighed the cons. So SuperPro made the steering knuckle as a complete solution.
I already have a pre rego GCM upgrade (different brand) Would changing the steering knuckle or UCA’s require re certification for the GCM upgrade I have?
The steering knuckles and UCA's should be fine to install with the Pre-Rego GCM upgrade and not need re-certification as it's not replacing anything they would have installed as part of the GCM upgrade. However it is best to double check with the shop or company that does the GCM upgrade to confirm.
We get it the product development takes investment, however 3 grand for parts install is very $$$ when considering in the cost of replacement tyres. Based on front tyres wearing out after 40-50k this product doesnt add up. Please take a hard look at reducing the cost to better align with real world examples.
Wow!!! I was expecting low 4 figures max!!! I’ve got 70k on my Maxxis Razrs with no arm adjustments. Think I’d rather save my pennies for quality tyres!!
I don't have any coupon codes but there is a bundle for these knuckles now with upper control arms which is cheaper than if bought separately. fulcrumsuspensions.com.au/search/product/steering-suspension/steering/front-geometry-correction-kit-to-suit-isuzu-d-max-mu-x-mazda-bt-50-fixes-tyre-wear-camber-cas-9995-trc6680kit-177576-pid-182741.html
You'd be pulling the toe in a lot to compensate for the amount of bump steer these vehicles get, giving you excess wear elsewhere on the tyres instead.
Do you have to change the upper control arms again if you are already running Stronger upper control arms,? Ironman, & why can't you go to Isuzu and push for this to be a warranty fix, Even if Isuzu come to part payment, its better than nothing for the customer.
If you have already upgraded your upper control arm you do not need to change them again. You can try and contact Isuzu to see if they will fix under warranty for you, but from what we have seen no one is having any luck.
@@FulcrumSuspensions1976 Can you find out how many vehicles have been impacted by this that have come to fulcrum? iIam going to get data together for an ACCC report. Inclusive of tyre sellers, suspension suppliers and installers etc. The more information the better. They're flagrantly contravening the consumer law act.

So why is Isuzu covering this cost if it is there design flaw? Thank you for the video.

Might be a stupid Question,,but is 4x4 an a 4x2 High Rider the Same steering

Hey mate, silly question but this doesn’t void warranty at all does it?
No, doesnt void warranty and is completely legal. However if you are worried, I would double check with the dealership.
Why are they getting away with this 😡🤬 I’m just going to sell the piece of crap

Yes, made by SuperPro.

I’m still waiting for Isuzu to fix it under warranty. I need to rotate my wheels every 10,000 and they claim that’s normal
Shortening the steering rack would solve it too.
