Great video Nick. I had this happen today. 2017 MUX. Dealer unfortunately not as sympathetic. They were able to do the job for $1350 so Merry Christmas to me! Keep up the good work!
Going through this right now it’s with the mechanic. Looked up the problem and your video pops up and as soon as I saw the name I recognised it. My partner Vik (Bribie Island)caught up with you a few years ago and followed you on UA-cam as well as other domains as he loved his mux. I’m driving it now as unfortunately he suddenly passed away in January.
Hi Melissa, I am shocked to hear that, I remember meeting up with Vik a couple of years ago. He was such a nice guy! Im so sorry for your loss. You and your family will be in my thoughts. I hope the mechanic can get your car up and running well again for you. ❤️
Really good to see you give your local dealer good praise 👍 Isuzu are great to deal with. I had a Ford before the DMAX, let’s just say Ford Dealerships took the fun out of owning a Ford 😂

I own a Pajero sport which has been trouble free for 5 years, but been keen on The MUX for a while as its a larger vehicle as I find the PjSport a bit small, but have come across a lot of videos which detail the problems with the MUX, which has got me having second thoughts now.
Glad it got sorted under warranty. Pacific is my new service centre and have been really happy with them. About to take it in due to a overpowering rotten egg smell. Hopefully all covered under warranty.
I have a similar issue in my 2017 MUX but only occurring when going low range 4WD. Engine warning light and transmission warning light. Diagnostic tool coming up with codes P0708 and P0700. Vehicle is under stat warranty (second hand) and I have an extended warranty.. only bought it a month ago!! Fingers crossed it's covered 😬
exactly. the sensors they put on earth moving equipment these days renders them useless for no real reason, except to protect a component, and with no warning and 4wd are the same. Imagine that sensor dying in the Simpson , or anywhere, if you couldn't figure out how to bypass , and/or trick it into letting you carry on.
So the actual cause of the sensor failure is the rubber hoses breaking down and damaging the sensor, hoses must be replaced with the sensor. There is a service bulletin for it and extended warranty coverage, it affects old shape and new shape dmax and mux

Hi Nick great videos and advice. I have a 2017 Mux with 108,000 klm, it does a regen approximately every 130 klm and has for the last 78,000 klm. I have reported it to the Dealer at every service, their answer is that all is Ok and just keep an eye on it. Ive also reported that the DPD graph reaches the first bar at the 100 klm then over the next app 40 klm the bar graph fluctuates up and down then starts a Regen. I do a lot of short trips ( school drop offs ) with a couple of trips a year, on a recent trip from Newcastle to Sunshine coast and Back it did a Regen app every 100Klm on the highway at speed limit. The Mux runs well is good on fuel and meets all my needs I'm just concerned about the life of the DPD. Any advice would be appreciated.

Limp mode, maybe derated mode versus limp mode is apparently the right term according with another mechanic in our FB group. Limp mode is even more derated than derated mode. A relearn of the new sensor via the OBDI port was required too. Been there and done that.
Dpf vehicles aren't made for daily driving short trips....
umm thats great bud but it doesnt tell you how to fix it if im in the middle of nowhere. thats the problem
@Jason-rs6co Yeah, there is no quick fix for it. So carry a spare if your worried 👌
Surely Mu is pronounced like the Greek letter Mu and not "Em You"?
Isuzu mooooo x 🤣
@@LowRangeNick yep. Just a little bit shorter in the Moo...and maybe a bit more like Meoo.
@@bruceturner5199 haha the Isuzu meow ex
Are you one of those who only do short runs? It appears to me that these issues hardly ever arise in country cars that are doing 40 kms or more daily. Stock agents who regularly do 1000 kms a week never experience this.
Great mate it's a shame SINCLAIR AT KINGSWOOD wasn't as good as your dealer they had our mux for a week after it went into limp mode and did nothing but used the car as lunch truck we got it back no diesel and filthy and they only cover you for a certain amount of the cost on the warranty for parts the good bit is the mechanic told me what was wrong with car on the sly and we paid to have it fixed by a reputable diesel mechanic our self .ps cars great isuzu warranty and extended warranty is shit mate.
I’m wanting to buy a 2015/16 Dmax from all accounts they are supposed to be very reliable . Would anyone happen to have experience with the older model ? I’ve been driving a 2000 model hilux for 14 years without hardly touching it. Perhaps I’ve been spoiled 😂
@@danejames7098thanks very much for replying 👍
Just keep the Toyota it’s barely run in. These “modern”technology vehicles are too complicated and fragile now.
@@chrro466 your not wrong. It’s the 5L 3 litre . I bought it with 205k now it’s done 423k I’ve hardly done anything except service it well . I drive it daily. I need something with air bags after neck surgery.
@@AndyL940 that’s a shame, all the best with finding your replacement vehicle. The earlier D max’s are a good choice. Unfortunately here in NZ a lot of them have similar mileages to your Toyota. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
2016 pre-DPF dmax manual - at around 100k, the only issue I have had is replacing the EGR.
