Yes I saw that! They were twice the price however. I took a chance those cheap ones would maybe fit in the hole... Fail! If I ever have to change the 7 beams I have on the Case, I will go directly to LED sealed beams!!!
I was thinking of fitting a small alternator under the battery, along one of the belts for the PTO... But that would be a very tight spot to fit! So I went for the LED lights!
Those new lights look way better than the old ones to me. I like that they are proud of the front of the hood; not set in like the old ones!!! The current draw is a lot less too. You would have to have some RPM's on the tractor to plow and there will be no issue with a drain on the battery with these lights. On my Massey Ferguson GC2300 I switched over totally to LED lights. I have 3 work lights as well as the regular driving lights plus a horn and with everything on the battery voltage is still over 12. LED's are a lot better. I like the long reach needle nose pliers you were using. They helped out with this job.
I have been told the LED light might not provide as much contrast as the halogen lights. I will see when I use it. Do you plan on making some videos with the MF GC2300? I like to know what use people make of their tractor! The pliers came from Princess Auto in a kit of 4 different pliers (bent, flat, etc). Thanks for watching Grampie!
Great explanation. I see so many people replace a 35w incandescent or halogen with a 35w LED and they think since it is a LED it draws less. I like the way you installed the new lights too. Most people would have hacked the hood up. I keep my old parts too. If you ever get rid of the Bolens you can put the stock lights back on it and keep these for another project.
Roger, I like the way you think! Keep the tractor as much as possible original. Rather modify the new (Chinese) components! Keep old parts, as they are valuable. With LED lights, you never now what to expect. You may have 35w "equivalent", which may draw only 5-10 watts, but will light like a regular 35w... Which is the case with those one. Sometime, they really draw 35w and they will light 1 mile far!!! Thanks for watching!
Joe, I have a couple of L.E.D. lights mounted front and rear on my farm tractor's cab, and you're correct too,it sure does help to keep the battery up at lower r.p.m. working.

Just one (just fornow, more people to come) personal concern: Overhere led-street-illumination is about to be common.... my experience is that black objects are not well lighted. In fact, I'm told that the specific wavelenghts in led-spectrum is absent or... black objects "absorbe" more or less led light. One bright side: snow is white & falling in a dark season... Thanks f p. I used to have modified blue tinted headlights on my car when I was student (late 90's). You are right. The blue spectrum is real bad for dark objects, which in matter the paved roads are. They were cool looking, but indeed really not suited for the sight. Like you mentionned, for winter time it should be OK. In summer time, if I need the lights, I should call it a day!!! Thanks for your comment!
the blue ones drive my eyes nuts.. they very sensitive at night due to years of welding at night while in the Service and Civilian world. Honestly I think that big AUTO is milking us for money. Anyone with an education above grade 8. Knows that green is the best light at night for the human eye. Eventually they will get around too it. Just like years back Europe started using headlights that turned with the front wheel so you had light going into the turn/curve.. US Auto makers got those bannedhere.. now.. they are trying to bring them out like they were the first!! ( PS. Joe?? are you already planning a backup/tail light??)
Not sure for the rear lights yet. I have a red marker that is one old I had on the trailer... But speaking of a real light, I might add some kind of roll bar to have the lights on top of it for a better view.
Interesting findings on l.e.d. lights 'f p ' I try to stay with lighting that is not higher than 5,000 K , once we get up into more than 5000 kelvin it's doesn't show up well on rainy nights too. The 'blue wave length lighting hurts me eyes somewhat too.
I thought I would have saved a few dollars by modifying LED spotlights and fit them. I should have spent a bit more to put the sealed beam LED lights. Maybe my charging system is not in good shape, it did not charge enough at lower rpm. I had to crank to 2500+ rpm to charge enough. So I was discharging the battery slowly in winter. Which is not good! I kept all the hardware to go back to original though! Thanks!
When I bought my HT23, it came with those same LED Lamps. I took them out, and went back to original bulbs for the correct look. One thing to note is one should not be working the Tractor with the engine at low RPM, so charging shouldn't be an issue, unless othe electrical problems are present.

They look like someone tried to make the wrong lights fit the tractor. There are LED lights available that are direct replacement and look identical to the original ones. Fit with NO Modifications , just plug and play.
Thought about trying something like this with my Bolens, now I know what to do. Also, I think the inside of your muffler is rusted out, my HT23 is very quite compared to yours.
Like TLC Landscaping mentionned, there is also sealed beams LED replacement. They are "plug&play". But they are quite more expensive. At least, from what I found available nearby. This is why I ended with those one! I will come back to that muffler, because it is not very enjoyable for my neighbours!!! I am still hesitating at doing a vertical stack as opposed to the horizontal configuration... Lol! Thanks for watching!
Joe Lesage I've saw those as well, and the price scared me away. I have a vertical exhaust stack on my older tube-frame Bolens, but in the summer I can feel to much heat off it.

I had the same problem for to much draw when not at full throttle on my Toro tractor....fix the charging problem and a lot brighter.....CHEERS

Old ones def look better but they do draw more current, but since there is a charging system, i would have left the old ones in place
