man i would give a kidney for one of those small tractors with a loader. Ive looked for years for one in my area. when people get one, they neer sell them. neat idea!
I used to have the identical loader. Was fitted onto an old gravely tractor when I got it, but i mounted it onto my Bolens DGT1700 garden tractor. Awesome little loader!
Nice idea, I really like it! I have factory made lip forks for my JD 420. Hooks across the top of the bucket grab a round bar, and the right angle forks dangle down and rest with back pressure against the lower front lip. Chains wrap around from the bottom to the top so they stay with the machine when I withdraw from a load. Just an idea to reduce the flexion on the bottom of your bucket for your narrow mount is to slip a 1/4 or 1/2" pc of flat stock under the forks to spread the load. Of course that won't help the flexion of your cross pipe. Perhaps a strut from the pipe back up to the underside of the top of your bucket would help stiffen that and spread the load. You've made a ton of great videos, and I've seen about 70 of them so far. I look forward to more... Keep up the great work!
David Miller Thanks for watching my videos. I do get some flex, especially when I move them inwards to the center of the bar. Not a huge problem for this tiny tractor but definitely an issue if I was able to lift more. A quick strut off the center of the pipe to the top of the bucket would help a ton. Good idea.
Yeah, it's a rare attachment and tractor. I know MTD was trying to compete with John Deere and others in the 70's and 80's. Which John Deere do you have?
Yeah, that's back when MTD competed very well with the big boys. The 990 series are collected by a bunch of people and are just a good as the Deere's, Bolens, Wheel Horse and Simplicity of the era.
nice work as usaul, l have an old set of fork truck forks on my kubota that hang from the top then lean on the bottom of the bucket, but can fall off as they are not pinned like that,
Nice job how about just adding a solid I bolt in the center of the bucket. it would be just one more hole but cut your span in half for when your forks are tight together
sixtyfiveford i am builing loader now for my bolens G16lx. I am impressed with fork design and i plan on installing on my unit. I thank you for the great idea. Simple and effective. I will be watching your channel for good ideas. Thanks again. I subscribed 👍😎
sixtyfiveford i couldn't tell what your tractor is but looks like a work horse. Lol i just watched again. First thing you said is type of tractor. Nice set up.
Yeah the 990 series are definitely nice tractors. The loader is an original MTD loader and I don't think they sold very many new. I had to put a ton of weight on the back to make it manageable to drive/steer with a loaded bucket. But the steering is still very worn from years of stress on it.
sixtyfiveford I would guess so. Ive got a 1985 mtd, but, more like mtd made for Montgomery ward, so its an mtd/Montgomery ward.... anyway. Theyre great tractors, I haven't had anything major break on it... knock on wood... but that thing will go through anything! Sand, water, dirt, gravel, etc. That looks like a good tractor, is it electric hydraulics? I saw the headlights straining. I want to make a tri point hitch for mine. To fit small plows and stuff. That'd be neat. Good job on the forks, I was expecting all out bucket off, homemade mounts, etc.
Yeah, the headlights have a short in them. It runs off a standard hydraulic pump. If you look close you can see the pump below the headlights hanging off the front. It runs off the front pulley on the engine. This also has a 3 point hitch but I have others that have a sleeve hitch. I think the 3 point is overrated on these small tractors and a simpler sleeve hitch is more than adequate.
I just thought that it'd be cool to have that. If you think about it, having a bucket that big on these things is a little much too. I have 23" tires on the back. And about a foot of clearance under it.
I just bolted two truck springs to the underside of my bucket, using grade 8 bolts. I lift 1,500 lb. logs all the time with them. CAUTION----be careful not to lift/curl too much or the log will roll backwards and onto the operator, a possibly fatal mistake.
Yes. Mtd made so many different brands. You can tell the heaviest duty ones. By their model number (first 3 beginning numbers). This will be what they call a 990 series. These were built with 3 different main with the higher number being newer There was the 990 models, then came the 992 and then the 995 (that's what this is) and was the last of the 990 series tractors.
When I got it, it had zero ballast and would struggle with rear traction/front steering with only 100-200lbs. I added 4 cement filled cinder blocks, wheel weights and a few steel weights. They add up to 400ish pounds(if I recall) and now the tractor can lift 500+ pounds with the bucket. The forks stick out so far that leverage takes hold and I'm limited to around 200lbs. If I took off the bucket and placed forks back 2 feet where the bucket connects I would have around 500 pounds of lifting force with the forks.
man i would give a kidney for one of those small tractors with a loader. Ive looked for years for one in my area. when people get one, they neer sell them. neat idea!
that is a brilliantly simple fix. and the forks being able to lift up is prolly nicer than if they where clamped solidly on.
I used to have the identical loader. Was fitted onto an old gravely tractor when I got it, but i mounted it onto my Bolens DGT1700 garden tractor. Awesome little loader!
Awesome. I guess it's called a Kwik-Way loader.
@@sixtyfiveford i believe you are correct. I remember the silver mfg label on the arm. Cool design as well, with its self leveling bucket
Yeah, I hope to use them a good amount. I built them for a job I have tomorrow, so we'll see how they work when put to the test.
Beautiful! Smartest and simplest forks I have ever seen. Thanks
Thanks, they've been working very well.
Great job. I, m all over it. Thx brutha
thanks
Yeah, I rummaged around for a sleeve just barely bigger to weld to the inside of the bucket. I weld something to it.
Thanks for the flattery.. Yeah, I love this little tractor.
Simple, and exactly what I was looking for
Cool. Nice that they slide.

Much nicer than the clamp on kind they make. Bet you are going to get a lot of good use out of those guys.
Very nice, I find forks are so handy I don't know how I did without them for so long..
Thanks for the flattery. I can fix stuff but I can't sing and play the guitar like you.
I did this to my ford lgt 145. Works amazing,!! Great idea
Right on
clever, simple but effective... Thanks for sharing
That is cool!! I didn't know there was a bucket attachment for a MTD. Good job I think I will make one for my John Deere tractor.
Yeah, it's a rare attachment and tractor. I know MTD was trying to compete with John Deere and others in the 70's and 80's. Which John Deere do you have?
I got a John Deere 5303 its has a 64 horse motor in it. The only thing I should have got was a 4X4 . When using a bucket the 4x4 would be nice.
Nice Tractor.
I would reinforce the holes in the bucket. Nice job.
That's a really cool little garden tractor.
Thanks.. I really like it.
You have good quality videos, something I need to start producing again
Thanks.. You should make more videos for sure.
Thank you.
very nice.. I've been looking around and like what you have done.. I may steal this for myself.. thanks!!!
Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I hope you do.
Yeah, the possibilities for storing stuff has just went vertical. Thanks for watching...
Seems to work really nice.
That's really cool. We should do something like this on the ford 8n. Great video!!!!
+Love2boat92 Hey Thanks Man. This little tractor has a hard time lifting anything heavy but these have come in very handy.
sixtyfiveford Yes I would imagine it would. It would come in handy for certain things that aren't very heavy at all.
Well thought out. Easy movement, Easy off, and even works too! Nice Job. How do we get the 65 Ford T-shirts?
Right on the money, thank you very much!🙏🏽EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!🥹
simple, cheap and effective. Good job
Thanks.
Yeah, that are very hard to come by around here as well.
Love the design so much I made some for my 646 Case, Thx!
+jefro218 Thanks.
Thanks...
neat idea and pretty cool tractor I just picked up a 995 not bad old tractors for mtd
Yeah, that's back when MTD competed very well with the big boys. The 990 series are collected by a bunch of people and are just a good as the Deere's, Bolens, Wheel Horse and Simplicity of the era.
Yeah, I comes in handy for sure.. Thanks.
A little 4x4 Kubota would be nice. I haven't found a derelict one yet though.
Thanks Danny.
nice work as usaul, l have an old set of fork truck forks on my kubota that hang from the top then lean on the bottom of the bucket, but can fall off as they are not pinned like that,
Very good idea! Thanks for posting.
great job on those. I think when I do mine im going to make them just allitle longer. great job bro
I've been really happy with these. It does take a large amount of counter weight as the load is even further out.
Superb :-)
Additions with very little change to the bucket, clever man :-))
That is great, you should patent the idea.
Hey, Thanks.
Aint that something, your sharp as a tack as the saying goes lol, love that tractor
Yeah, definitely handy.
I Like them Nice job !!!
Nice I just got me a front end loader for my tractor I been looking for a fork setup for it
What a great idea!
excellent as all ways! i sure could use a small tractor like that
Thanks... I'm watching you battery video right now.
cool idea perfect for a small tractor
Neat idea and great fabrication.
Great ideal, you are a smart man.
Thanks.. I've been happy with it.
Thank You!

That would help for sure.
Thanks for watching and commenting.
That's cool great idea on the forks I may have to make me a set of forks like that I bought a pair of the screw on really dont like them awesome
They've been working out very well. The tractors hydraulic are definitely under powered for forks though.
Thanks.... Yeah, I've talked about it but... you know.... How do we get Double Wide 6 shirts?
great idea and good job!
nice You have a good imagination.
Always enjoy your vids. I came across this one just looking at front end loaders and I saw your channel name.
Bruce
Great to see you bumping into more of my videos.
Nice build.
all good to go kool plan good job
I think I'm stealing your design. good job!
Awesome, I hope you do.
Simple and effective. Nice!!!
Thanks, I'm glad you liked it.

👍😎
Thanks. Those Bolens are tough tractors.
sixtyfiveford i couldn't tell what your tractor is but looks like a work horse. Lol i just watched again. First thing you said is type of tractor. Nice set up.
Great job!!
love the MTD gardens tractors i have a1989 white 992 it;s the same thing as your 995 thying to build a loader like yours.
Yeah the 990 series are definitely nice tractors. The loader is an original MTD loader and I don't think they sold very many new. I had to put a ton of weight on the back to make it manageable to drive/steer with a loaded bucket. But the steering is still very worn from years of stress on it.

Pretty sharp, always thinking. See Ya :)
Yeah, that would add some strength.
Freakin' awesome! Not that's something I can make for my tractor. Much thanks!
Bourne Accident Thanks. The come in handy.
Awesome!
Thank You. I'm glad you like them.
nice tractor there.
Put a steel rod or 3/8 pipe in side the cross pipe.
Yeah, I threw a piece of 1/2" rebar inside for good measure.
Man I wish I had that tractor. I can’t find anything like that for sale.
It's been a fun thing to have around. Not a ton of power but still gets stuff done.
That is Awesome
lol, totally going to be a troll here.. I think its cute when folks that have a lawnmower call it a tractor.
but yeah, I like the design.. so there.
I just bolted two truck springs to the underside of my bucket, using grade 8 bolts.
I lift 1,500 lb. logs all the time with them.
CAUTION----be careful not to lift/curl too much or the log will roll backwards and onto the operator, a possibly fatal mistake.
Genius.
TheSaturnV Thanks, I'm glad you like it.
This is basically the same as a White GT 1855, correct?
Yes. Mtd made so many different brands. You can tell the heaviest duty ones. By their model number (first 3 beginning numbers). This will be what they call a 990 series. Good job, have you tested the weight? How much can the 990 lift without tipping forward? What kind of ballast do you have in the back?

Does that tractor have power steering.
***** It doesn't so you just need good counter weights on the back.
nice
Neat
Not for a small tractor.
You wouldn't make a good engineer, it's not complicated enough. 😀
I would trade you!!
Thanks.
