#292 Winch Trial
This is about time to show you the winch in action. Overall, it works great. I like the feature of unspooling remotely. The only detail is that it's really heavy.
Come along in my typical day out in the woods...

#291 Grapple VS Hay Bale
Переглядів 4596 місяців тому
We store a few big square hay bales in our dry box for Amélie's horse. Then Amélie prepares small hay bags to feed her horse in the other building where she has light and plenty of storage. So I have to move a big hay bale every 3-4 weeks from one shelter to the other. The grapple is more than ideal for the task!

Part 2 of the logging winch. Assembling the main transmission and testing the electric clutches.
#289 Logging Winch
Переглядів 1 тис.7 місяців тому
I need a logging winch to use with my tractor. I could buy one, but I won't be happy. I want it to be remotely controlled and capable of controlling the spooling AND the unspooling action. And yet, to be driven by the tractor PTO. And to suit my needs, 3-ton pulling capacity would be plenty enough for my small 35hp Case 430 tractor. So I decided I would make my own version of it!

#286 Digging a Ditch, Dump Trailer & More!
Переглядів 849Рік тому
I dug this ditch last year, but without a light slope, it's hard to maintain using the lawn mower or even the offset flail mower. So I remove dirt to have the desired slope. Moreover, I need a significant amount of dirt for the next project (wife's project!). Let's put the new dump trailer in action!
#285 New Dump Trailer

I need a dump trailer, but I don't have time to make one... So the project is to update the hydraulic valve to have a float position

#283 Summer Is Here!
Переглядів 386Рік тому
Here is a quick update of the most recent project. Heating the pool! I've installed a titanium heat exchanger (salt water needs titanium over stainless steel). It's a 360k BTU heat exchanger. It's well suited for our pool. We've gained almost 40°F in 24 hours. Yes, the water was just above the freezing point, to begin with.
#282 Snow Groomer Updates

#281 Roller, Boiler and Wood Stack Updates

#280 Excavator Updates

Here is an update of the modification I did on the excavator.
#279 The Snow Roller
Переглядів 2,6 тис.Рік тому
I make a snow roller to maintain the trails. It has nothing to do with a lawn roller, being 42 inches in diameter, it can efficiently roll through a thick layer of snow. I use salvaged 11R22.5 wheels to make that contraption.
#278 Plowing with an Excavator? Of course!
Переглядів 1,6 тис.Рік тому
Is an excavator any good in snow? I am hooking the snowplow I use with the tractor using the SSQA adapter. The snowplow is 7ft wide and the KX40 can handle it very well! I take advantage of the long arm to reach the top of the snow bank to knock it down. I also offset the turret to push the windrow further.

    Very useful Thanks for this video. I have a question...What is in the blue tube ? A kind of grease ?

    • @FromSteelToWood
      @FromSteelToWood День тому

      Not quite sure if you refer to the very small blue tube towards the end where I reassemble the carburetor's butterfly, it is LockTite. I don't want any screw to be swallowed by the engine... There was another bigger blue tube, it's a gasket sealant. Not quite sure I used it at that point. Thanks!

    Hi...are they back filling without water?

    • @FromSteelToWood
      @FromSteelToWood 3 місяці тому

      Yes they are! But there is great precaution about that. The water was added only a few hours after that. And they used net 1/2 in crushed stone, so no need to compact. If they had to compact, they would have to fill the water along. Thanks!
