So instead of a health bar, you could have a block bar When an enemy 'hits' you, your block bar depletes When you parry an enemy, the block bar rises again A perfect parry would stagger and break an enemy's guard momentarily, giving you a chance to strike and deplete their block bar When your block bar completely runs out, you're a one hit kill, so you have to parry the enemy's attack to gain some of your block bar back So, you block automatically until the block bar runs out You press whatever button to parry enemy attack and gain a bit of block bar So there you go, one hit kill system with balancing :)

I really want to see a game like that, but I don't know if it's even possible with the current controls on console maybe it could work on PC not sure. I mean they could just go the more basic route and copy For Honor, but I think a lightsaber combat system should be more in depth than that. If they actually implement this into the new game (which they won’t) you will also need to die after one hit with a lightsaber when going up against bosses to make it more realistic. That way gameplay could still be fun if it was focused on finding an opening on your opponent instead of just trying to do damage quickly.
The thing about dismemberment is that it’s only fun in small doses. In the force unleashed 2 literally EVERY stormtrooper was losing their head after every swing and it was getting a little Boring. In my opinion dismemberment should only occur every 5-10 kills or so. Too much of it takes away from it a lot
While I do agree dismemberment is very needed, I don’t think it’s gonna happen. If I remember correctly they didn’t add dismemberment for human characters because it would raise the ESBR rating
If you remember in the force unleashed, Stormtroopers were one hit kills but stronger or more armored variants such as the EVO trooper or the Phase II Dark Trooper took more hits, where as the bosses had a larger health bar. That is how I would want the game to be, troops are one hit, variants take more, and vehicles take even more, while bosses are the hardest.
I would absolutely love to play a Star Wars game that goes as much for realism as possible. Maybe you get to experience multiple stories. In one you are an Advanced Recon Commando who due to better gear can take like ever so slightly more punishment compared to regular clones. And/or a Clone Commando seeing as how their armor is really durable AND have a deflector shield. You could play as a Jedi where the lightsaber truly functions like it's supposed to. But some enemies you face off against wear lightsaber resistant armor which does exist in Canon.
It would be cool if they added a DLC mode where you can kill everything with one hit but you die in one hit like most games do I don't know if new game plus there's anything like that I haven't got that far yet. It would still be a really cool idea and it would have some more replay value to it

If a mod could make it so only lightsabers are a one hit kill, Your health regain is slow, enemy lightsaber are also one hit one kill on you. Enemy saber users are able to block and dodge much more. And troopers with the stun baton also are able to block much better. That could help balance one hit one kill. It would also make fighting saber users much more dangerous as you can be one hit.
I wish that there was a mod where you could have the spinning inquisitor lightsaber, as well as a option to put a cape on the inquisitor outfit for cal. Obviously a dismemberment mod, more cool or powerful force abilities, and an option to change what BD-1 looks like, not like only the paint jobs, but the head, body, what the BD-1 powers look like. Also the fact that you can have a change hair and skin mod, is cool. More realistic looking lightsabers. And yeah, that’s pretty much my mod pack that I would want...
There's only so much realism a game can take before it's not quite as fun anymore; I mean, both Cal and his enemies get to "respawn" if things go south. Heck, if he falls to his death, it doesn't even take his progress away, just chips away at his health. If a fellow lightsaber wielder lands what looks like a blow to his neck, not only will it not necessarily kill him, but a healing stim will fix that nasty little near decapitation right up, as though nothing had happened. Like the lightsabers, "fixing" this by making you lose the game entirely every time you die would absolutely be more realistic. But not as fun. Too much like actual wars, in fact, which aren't exactly known for their fun factor...
If they had the same idea like ghost of tsushima they could’ve made the combat similar and the swinging speed could increase every time you upgrade your skills so it could’ve been a great opurtunity for insane different fluid combos
I honestly prefer the lightsabers in the normal game because whilst they are less accurate, they give the game more of a challenge which is a must have in a game for me
I think you're forgetting The Force Unleashed II. As painfully short as it was, it had great lightsaber combat with dismemberment on Stormtroopers and one hit kills on most basic infantry. Even the enemies that didn't die in one hit were still satisfying to fight because they reacted to every strike. I also think that if the devs ever make it so that lightsaber strikes are one hit kills that they'll make it go both ways and the game would become insanely hard
Yes, Jedi Fallen Order should be a one hit kill with a lightsaber for realism. For balance enemies should be given an edge like: being faster, have better aim, better detection, smarter AI and or better armor. Armor that has a higher damage threshold or that negates direct lightsaber damage forcing the player to find and exploit areas not covered up by the armor or use a different weapon then finish them off with the lightsaber. I would love to see dismemberment in this game, much more emersive.
I'd make the mod more balanced by making mechanical enemies like droids need more effort to kill, Force attacks would be less lethal but would still do medium to high damage, and I'd add a bleeding status effect to things that take damage but don't die instantly, like being hit with a lightsaber in the arm, abdomen, or legs.

Honestly the best jedi combat is the free style hitting system, exactly like jedi knight series where you can hit freely and it affects the swing and if the swing hits the saber against an enemy they die. Also the sandbox mode in fallen order feels restricted in comparison to what jedi academy had where u have settings to edit map and set npcs freely
(Just if you didn't know) Theirs a mode in battle arena that has you be invisible to the enemy's and for the last enemy standing to win so you don't have to fight them at all.
I'd feel like there'd be some balance to have larger enemies only be partially disabled and dismemberment to be fully implemented so it's isn't always a one hit kill, but for most characters it would be. Likewise, it'd take a few blaster shots to kill, and others kill in one hit. I'd love to see this kind of difficulty where you can kill in one hit, but only have 1 HP. I really wonder how different the games combat would become.
The lightsabers in Fallen Order do feel very underpowered - obviously not very "lightsaber-like" behavior, and much more like whipping around a wooden baton or staff. That being said... of course it's that way to make a fun, engaging video game, so the transgression is completely excused.
By the way, you can FLY in this game if you spam RB and A on Xbox. It’s a force freeze glitch where you get an extra jump after force freezing in the air.
To balance the game the bosses would have to be excellent at blocking and parrying so that its really just a battle of who can focus long enough till the other makes a mistake

However melee enemies and bosses would be better at blocking and enemies with firearms will kill you instantly if you were shot in the head and heart but any where else would take away health or if you were shot in the leg you would be slowed down.
For dismembering they don't even need to add blood, just add the cauterized part that you'd see in the films. They should just make it a setting that you can dismember everything
