Have to thank you for taking the time so provide such explanations in a clear video. This explains how the rifle works and I've changed my mind on one, so I’ll be buying one.
I’d fit a new rifled barrel as standard but I don’t like FX barrels/sleeves and don’t like that there is the same temperamental o’ring arrangement between such. Even with a thicker rifled barrel, I'd look at a couple of de-pingers, possibly under spring pressure, to both inside wall and barrel in order to help with barrel harmonics/movement.
The brass hammer spring guide could be slimmed and a delrin top hat sleeve fitted over to combat future rubbing and fouling.
Haven’t seen the block but could a new valve seat be produced, without the large opening, so that there is less wasted air pressure (filling the large current volume of the valve seat) when air passes between valve pin and transfer port? Seems unnecessarily large, presumably one for all rifles of any power.

Saying that though it's confirmed my thoughts on this gun, I'll be avoiding it like the plague 😊. A few years ( or even sooner) me think's there's gonna be a lot of poorly rifles that have been messed with trying to replace the one of many seals 😮

    Thanks, interesting video as always!
Seems to me the machining is a bit rough on these and there seems to be more "leftovers" and marks from it. Accuracy issues in my opinion come from their lack of tuning/adapting for sub12 shooting. You might find the liner is a "heavy" slug liner, 1:18, for your use a pellet 1:24 liner would be much more accurate. Might be worth a try. Add the carbon sleeve while you're at it, it helps a lot with barrel harmonics.
I've been chasing small and slow leaks on my Maverick lately. Fix one, next one pops up in a short while. Rifle is from 2020 and has had around 30k shots fired through it with no problem at all up until this began, other than the cocking rod bending slowly over time, which i replaced with a titanium one about half a year ago. Simple matter of maintenance in my opinion, i'm going to take the rifle completely apart to replace all the o-rings and that will most likely make it last another 3-4 years without any leaks. The complete o-ring kits are very cheap, so i'm not bothered by it at all.
The rings i've replaced so far were the plenum body one closest to the block and the one before that, the second regulator body one (replaced the reg with a Huma one while at it, very satisfied with that one) and the tiny valve pin one.
The rifle has been shooting at high power all its life so far, in .25 and .30 at 80 and 130 ft/lbs. My standard distance is 95 meters and its sub-moa with ease.
Mod parts as far as internal/performance are the Huma reg, carbon liner sleeve, better gauges, 300bar bottle, hammer spring and the hammer.

It’s just that it is an illegal product in China and cannot be processed. So gave up. . I also have an idea here, which is an open hammer structure air gun. Would it not be advantageous to create a sleeve for the transfer port to help with efficiency ( keep the expansion behind the pellet ) as that does look to be a large transfer port for a
    .177cal rifle.

Great video. Well put together and much better than most found on UA-cam. Have you managed to get it back together and test it yet. I've been debating purchasing one of these myself. How bad was the accuracy you were experiencing? I was debating a .22 version to replace my old but still going strong air arms s310. Just fancy a change really. Looking at the solid block that is the plenum blank . It looks like you could put an adjustable volume adjuster into that which would allow finer tuning perhaps? Anyway thanks for the post really good👍.

Aup mate. Wondered if you might have an idea. My fill probe went bang the other day and since then my rifles extreme spread has been around 45fps. Took it apart and found no issues, took it to the range and it would settle on 698 for a bit, drop to 666 then back up to around 705 and now it's staying there with a 5fps extreme spread. Any idea what could be causing that? I'm going to keep the chrono on it at all times for a bit to see if there are any changes.

I'm new to the airgun world what is the difference between the regular plenum, and the high power one if the regular plenum is just a block with no volume they say one is so many cc and the SHP plenum is more? Why didn't they just make the block thinner and then they wouldn't have had to cut the stock out for it?

    • @peteralexben
      @peteralexben 2 місяці тому

The plenum is the chamber where the rifle gets the air from .the regulator is the part that fills the plenum from the cilinder or botlle.to a set pressure .so the rifle shoots with the same pressure

The classic in a 700mm is a pro minus slug kit and trigger.

There seems to be a large variation in accuracy with these guns, what I will say is I got mine a week ago it’s in walnut it has an a-tec wave moderator and a hawke compact scope and I picked up a box of qys domed not knowing if they were suitable and at 30yrs I’m getting pretty much pellet on pellet…..and though I’m sure it’s because the gun is fun to shoot I seem to get through a load of pellets without realising it but that’s an illusion is just because the rifle is a great crack to shoot and for £1216 including new scope moderator and pellets this rifle is hard to beat…..saying that I’ve already been lured by another rifle the FX CROWN MK 2 and while I’m speaking of the fx crown can anyone tell me if it’s worth putting a 600mm barrel on the fx crown mk2 in sub12 ftlbs or should I stick to the standard barrel that comes with the rifle.
