@@nicksamsunggalaxys2404 Yes but with only 3-4 adjustments available and the springs can be glued in. Which then bends when you try to remove them. Especially on the cheaper mags.
Why don't FX see your video and do something about it...come on FX..this man could be an advisor for you..he's improving your rifle, which should be your job as the manufacturer.. Great video my friend as always ❤
My pleasure..your videos are amazing and some of the manufacturer's like FX could apply some of the modification you do..eg..Thier mags for instance etc... Anyway my friend keep it up..
Such a neat solution to an obvious problem. I wonder how many requests for the jigs you will get 🙂 Nice also to see Theoben were on the right track all those years ago - they mostly had 4 holes to adjust the tension - got to love a Scrapid, however the DRS has come along nicely and the looks match the performance. outstanding work.
My old Impact MK2 and the M3 I had already had holes for different spring tension settings from the factory. I swapped the M3 for a Ghost and that has the same problem although not quite as bad. Bought some CARM magazines for it and don’t have the problem anymore. Still prefer my Air-Arms though, mechanical indexing eliminates that problem altogether.
I have noticed that my groups would tighten when magazine is at last few diabolos, that is, when spring tension is the lowest and therefore lowest skirt damage, this is great advice and I have modified my magazine, thanks!
Quick patent the mod and sell it back to FX then retire in the Bahamas 😂 . Great and well executed mod . You have made a very clear and easy to follow video. Let's hope you get some recognition from FX at least. Many thanks.
great job mate 👍 for me it’s single shot loader all the way one definitely more accurate results in my experience and two stops me blowing through a gazillion pellets in a session (could be a bit of an exaggerated number 🤣🤣🤣🤣) but just slows me down a bit which for me improved my shooting and bank balance 🤪
How did FX missed this!? I noticed the same issue when I got a 2nd mag for my Dreamline, the spring was stiffer and I got wierd groups. Got the 3D printed ones from CARM Magazine and my groups got tighter. Great video as always! I might drill my original´s now and see what happends 🤠👍
Hi, Did you change to the higher Pic rail purely to allow the use of the larger magazines or did you require the extra height for the eye alignment with the chassis fitted.
Hi bud the one think i found that makes a big difference in accuracy is the stock screw torque. There set at the factory around 4nm but my best groups are at 6nm of torque but every one will be different but defo worth experimenting with.
I have had very mixed results with 3D printed magazines as well. The ones from CARM have been the best for me, but some times you just think its best to fork out for the original OEM ones. Nice solution to the magazine tension. If the skirt is damaged enough then air pressure can get past the pellet and also hinder the skirt expansion.
Maybe some of these problems are that fx is designed mainly for higher powered market than the UK and .22 and above which wouldn't hurt the ammo especially slugs with that tention and the little 177 sub 12 is a fraction of there consumer market and possibly resulting in a that will do type outlook
Way funny, when the closeup shot of the modified one's pellet suddenly changed into the picture of the og standard mag's pellet - my instant reaction was an "Eww!"..🤣
This is exactly why i dislike spring tensioned magazines. The simple ones that use an O-ring to hold the pellets (like the HW100) or single shot loading is what i preferred.
The skirt damage in itself isnt overly significant to down range performance.. HOWEVER.. what is of more significance is that the pellets with flattend skirts when loaded via a sprung magazine will often be loaded into the barrel eccentrically. 8t can increase the yaw on the pellets before they've even been fired. You can test this easily too. Feed a mags worth of pellets through the mag as per jakes vid, to simulate the skirt damage, but then single shot load them carefully into the barrel.
even so if the pellet gets damaged ever so slightly in the mag, when the pellet gets pushed inside the barrel the oval shape gets corrected a tad, and when that burst of air gets behind it it opens up even more to fill the whole barel evenly (or it should) thus negating the fact that the skirt is damaged. and yes not all pellets will to 100% that but I have a maverick and it also has some good tension on the pellets, yet its more accurate then you hand loading pellets 50 yards.
I don’t really like the mini magazine for the drs the new plastic they use is flimsy it’s cheap. They claim there’s a ball bearing in it and there is not. The new mechanism might mitigate side to side movement, but there’s no ball bearing. I just don’t understand why FX doesn’t go to an aluminum magazine. It blows my mind, the biggest air rifle company in the world and they’re shipping their guns with plastic magazines.
Hilarious! Does this industry not do any actual QC? Pro tip for the product designers…. Keep the shape of pellet “brace” as a complete circle and you can keep the same tensioning system. They just have a massive design flaw on a crucial part of that product.
@@sub12airgunners yep I think you've hit the nail on the head ,ive had 2 fx rifles (both new )and they were expensive rubbish, fx do seem to make there guns to run at what we call fac power levels and the problems start when turn them down sub 12fp , great video by the way , you should go into production of your own design of air guns ,👍
Man I love your videos and all the work you do but let me tell you, it seems to me you're wasting your talent on hardware that is more of a project than it is a tool! Greetings from Italy
This should be a standard practice on all magazines for air rifles. I hope a lot of manufacturers see this video and take note. Great stuff mate.
Alot of makes aready have the pre exsisting holes mainly to increase tention when they get worn

i would agree i will always go ssl if i am doing groups it does slow you down and you have much less chance of damage to the pellet 😀
They all need a mag like the HW100 driven by the action not a silly spring
Agreed!
Thanks once again Jeff for sharing your knowledge and help always very much appreciated Cheers 👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍

it was just for the mag i didn't like the mini mag

yes mate we spotted this with the old stock you could move the poi around, nice one will have a bit more of a play with this stock 😀

yes it is a tricky one as most manufactures use the spring mag now
are you selling the little tool for drilling the holes in the mini mag?
hi yes we will be putting them on ebay soon hopefully

which I commented before watching the end lol.
maybe you could try to replace the grease in the bearing with really thick grease to slow down the movement of the pallet carier
yes that may work 👍
Would you please think about a springless magazine….that would be great!😊😊
Great idea!
Have you thought of making some delrin pellet trays for single loading to put on ebay.
we have but have not got round to doing it yet 😀
How does this rifle compare to the Weihrauch HW110? They are in the same price bracket and the Drs is tempting. Any advice would be appreciated

Jeff to the rescue yet again. Bad design by FX. The spring is at least 3 times bigger than my 38 shot impact mags.
