Adam Savage's One Day Builds: Iron Man Armor Boots!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 бер 2021
- Adam's next big costume project is a return to his build-up of his Iron Man Mark 1 armor! Previously, Adam reworked the costume's chest chassis and shoulder parts, and today he's tackling the legs and boots of the suit. Even though the castings are a good foundation to work off of, it's going to take a lot of modification and scratch building to get the armor ready for wear. Next up will be painting the whole thing!

Miss an episode from the Iron Man Mark I series? Our full playlist is here: ua-cam.com/play/PLJtitKU0CAegriOw97VIK2Ci-zs6HKP4B.html
I'm currently building a Daft Punk Guy Manuel helmet. It would be intro to see Adam's take on such a project.
Great job Adam please have a look at my mk4 build on Instagram ironman_midlands I’d love some feedback
Can you tell us what happened with the Raptor Episodes?
ua-cam.com/video/t-_VPRCtiUg/v-deo.html METRONOMES
Adam not sure if you already had an idea to raise the armor up but thought football armor would do the job and still be easily hidden
Adam Savage could do it, IN A CAVE, WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!!!
Alex labs built a arc reactor in a cave with a box of scraps
Well I'm not Adam Savage!
This comment is gonna blow up lol
Conclusion, Adam IS Iron Man!
He IS Savage.😉
I've been watching this video pretty closely, and I'm confident he is, indeed, making a Jericho Missile.
Obadiah: Adam Savage was able to build this in a cave! With a box of scraps!
Me: well Sir, I’m not Adam Savage.
This is the best comment I’ve seen on UA-cam.
That’s gross, no one needs to see Adam naked
@@GardenGuy1943 he has a family. soneone did.
we need a channel thats nothing but Adam's "one day" builds uncut, just raw footage.
I just love the idea of Adam walking around in his shop, alone, wandering around in Iron Man boots, holding up the thigh pieces, just lost in thought. What a great image.
*even more bandsaw noises*
"Not for pooping! For bullets!"
That has got to the best line I've heard all week.
As Mayor Joe Quimby said "It can be two things"
Does anyone else like to have Adam's videos playing in that background problem solving out loud while you quitely work on your own projects?
Yep.
Oh yes, doing it atm
Just found myth busters I don’t know how I’ve never watched that show but. Anyways I’m glad I did! Also it’s nice to see Adam still creating content. Now I have way to many videos to watch😂
Oh boy! YOU HAVE SO MUCH WATCHING AHEAD OF YOU!
Thats a heckalot'o'content waiting for ya!
Im actually jealous. i wish i could have that joy again
i love the sound it makes when you walk with it, extremely satisfying mechanical noise
The way Adam gets all giddy and happy when something works out is just so pure and wonderful!
I thought he said that was the pvc glue.
Adam's bandsaw: *noise*
Gunther, editting: *Bandsaw screeching noise*
David Attenborough: "And now we can hear the mating call of the North American bandsaw... majestic, really."
Thank you so much to the Tested team for keeping the content flowing throughout the pandemic, and especially Gunther for those wonderful gems in the edit!
Hey Adam. When covid is done you should meet up with the Hacksmiths and do a cool project with them.
I second this. Something I've too mentioned before as well.
The things they'd make. A real proper reproduction that actually functions aswell.
Yes.
I 100% support this. The Hacksmith and crew are absolutely Adam's flavor of insane.
I want to say he did some thing with them for iron man.
@@blackdra2000 no. That was a different company who made the jet suit. The hacksmith never finished theirs.
Adam: I had a mask on because I had some visitors
Me: Oh, I thought you were trying to not breathe resin dust... silly me.
We should have known :(
My thoughts exactly. Adam, you are my hero in many ways, for your wonderful enthusiasm and passion you put into your life and all you do, but, Jiminy Crickets, not for particulate inhalation risks!
People coming into our workshop and gagging on the resin fumes- me with no mask... 'what?'
@@morgansinclair6318 same. I also cringe just about every time he uses the bandsaw and has the blade guide 6 inches or more above the highest point of whatever he's cutting. It's pretty crazy how cognizant he is of some really important shop safety protocols and really blase about others.
I'm never more envious of Adam than for his plywood.
Adam looks like that episode of Wallace and Gromit where Wallace puts on those robotic pants.
Selling your costume to Adam Savage:
Pros: seeing Adam handle and praise your work, lift it up to an even higher degree, and then wear / display it :D
Cons: seeing Adam call your hard work inaccurate and then hack away at it :P
If I've learned anything from people who make costumes, they were 100% aware those pieces were missing/changed.
literally rip one entire boot apart
These are resin casts, though, so at least it's less of their work getting cut apart. Aside from the paint work they put into it, this is essentially a very high end kitbash.
I would be 100% honoured he though my work was worth upgrading, in accurate or not!
Adam: PVC Glue... super fast!
*part falls off*
Adam: Maybe not that fast....
lol
To the person who edited this video, Thank you 🤣 I haven't laughed like this for while.
It was Gunther!
They are having some fun with this one. I like it.
"Bandsaw noises", "more bandsaw noises", "even more bandsaw noises"
@@AndrewBlack343 I always laugh at those. Thanks Gunther :)
@@AndrewBlack343 "Bandsaw screeching noises"
Mork and Mindy what a name drop, i showed that show to my 10 year old little sister and she loved it!
"Getting my feet wet with the screen accuracy." - while holding the Mark 1 foot.
I see what you're working with, Mr. Savage.
The editing keeps getting better. Fantastic work everyone!
Now this is a man who makes good use of his tools
There are lots of things in this build to marvel at but I'm stuck admiring how darned clean that mirror is. The mirror in our closet gets more dust then that thing has, and it doesn't live in an active machine shop!
The smirk Adam has as he works around his shop wearing the legs. Nerd joy is a sight to behold.
Gunther is the hero we need.
I adore the little smile he has while walking around the room as he realised that what he’s done is working perfectly
Adam, I've been a fan since Mythbusters, and watching your builds over the course of the pandemic, especially this one (Iron Man is totally my jam) has been amazing. Your excitement and ingenuity along the way has been nothing short of amazing. Thank you good sir. 😊
I love how the font size of tool sounds usually matches how screeching the sound is
It’s hilarious that Adam is just “puttering around the shop” while wearing the boots and making other parts. Also totally something I’d do too. Haha
Yea I thought it was funny that he was actively wearing the legs while making other parts of the costume. Super cool
The knee joints were the right choice. Before it was just "boots" and "shorts" both twisting and wobbling like a costume.
With the joint, the whole thing became a lumbering behemoth of a machine that was built in a cave.
It squeaks, clanks, rattles and bumps.
I like how "clompy" it sounds when you walk in it.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that does the drumbeat slaps on my body while I wait for glue to set or paint to dry.
No joke I started watching the torso video last night and I just finished the second video. This was fate!
I won't be able to stop seeing the smiley face on the codpiece...
Now Adam you know you really need to get RDJ to visit the cave and see all the hard work.
59:20 "Let's face it, this is not the worst thing you've caught me doing"
I would love a "3 Wolves" tee shirt, but it's three different shots of Adam staring off into space: those beautiful moments in this show when he get's an idea, and has to think it through for 15 seconds before he decides if it will actually work or not.
I'm making mark 1 for my child. I was inspired by your video. Thank you for the good things you share.🙏
I think bandsaw needs his own spin off show. Guest starring; disk sander and his cousin belt, with re-occurring roles by air-powered grinder and riveter.
Adam looked like a hockey goalie with those legs! 🤣🏒
Probably not possible with the casting he has, but having the those two belts on the sides of the legs move like on screen would be so cool.
I like your little reciprocating saw. It sounds exactly like the one my landlord uses when he is fixing something in the basement on Sunday morning :-)
He gotta let everyone know that HE works too, sometimes.
@@Games_and_Music True. Lol.
At least once in every episode I wonder how he still has all his fingers.
You can get stuff reattached pretty well if you have the money. I used to work with a guy who cut his arm off at the elbow with a circular saw and everything worked perfectly after the surgery.
I worked with another guy who cut his hand in half down the middle, lengthwise. He went to a bad hospital, and his hand was barely better than a hook.
Last time I was this early Iron Man was still in theaters.

"Not for pooping! For bullets!"
Adam Savage BUILT THIS in his CAVE!!! WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!!
Every time that airsaw comes on, the Benny Hill theme song starts in my head...
Haha, yeah, i just picture a clown, it sounds like a cartoon honk
Just showing a little leg that’s awesome.
ADAM SAVAGE BUILT THIS IN HIS CAVE!!! WITH A BUNCH OF SCRAPS!!
I was just thinking how Adam could host a challenge to identify the sounds around his shop without the camera showing everyone what it was. Maybe give away a free T-Shirt or hat or something.
Seeing you stomp around in the legs, making the belt was just brilliant! You’re so obviously as geeky as any of us, it’s lovely to see!
OMG that last shot is just wow!
Adam using the circular with the legs on.......absolutely priceless! I love it!
Aw yeah, I've been eagerly waiting for another part of this build
for some reason I was expecting you to also make the gears and belts on the thighs so they'd move as you walked, for screen accuracy!
Omg, so I don't know why and maybe it's just me, but the sound of the drill and then the sound of the pneumatic rivet gun in repetition like that is soooo soothing. Almost can put me in a trance. Great build as usual!
Always loved Adam. Since I first saw him on mythbusters I admired him and the way his mind works. I'm on the spectrum so I love to learn new things and to make things from raw materials.
Offen I just end up making a mess but I enjoy it and the trial and error. I'm glad Adam is still doing what he loves.
I would love to just listen to his stories and the crazy things he's made.
After watching mythbusters (for the 100th time) it now makes me sad knowing that grant is no longer with us. Such a waste of a great mind and a great man.
It makes you think that life is short and can end in an instant.
Keep doing what you do best Adam. Hope everyone is staying safe in this crazy world we are living in at the moment. Be safe and take care.
I love the way it SOUNDS when you’re walking around. Amazing work!
hey adam, you probably dont remember me but like you said, “the internet never forgets” i was the kid that went on stage at the jamie farewell tour! if i could get in contact with you as my dad and i have beem trying to for a while, but i understand if you cant! thanks for your time!

If I could come close to 5 meters of Adam Savage, I'd be blessed.
@@pranalisarpotdar8203 im surprised i did, you can watch the video on my page its pretty funny
I love the one day builds!!! Only UA-cam show I will watch for over an hour!!! 🔥🔥🔥

‘ not for pooping, for bullets ‘ - Adam Savage 2021
Adam Savage is Iron Man.
first one of these videos i watched was the completed version that could actually fly. But it's good to have a practical cosplay version too :D
CANT wait for the painting now!!
The sound of that rivet gun is so satisfying
19:01 the brief hamboning session while the barge was setting 😂😂
Wow !!! That came out incredible !!! Not a cos play guy but huge fan of iron man !!!
That pneumatic rivet gun makes such a satisfying sound.
Adam Savage made it in his cave ... out of scraps!
This was a thoroughly entertaining video... a nice blend of details and high speeds, and explaining the reasons you did this or that. LOVED that you worked IN the legs, that was fun to watch.
Love this (re)build. But I did keep finding myself, saying out loud, as Adam built the belt, "Battle belt, with harness, and molle attachments...you can hang everything you need, and get weight distribution!"
I can't wait to see you fly out of the shop in your prototype Ironman suit lol 😁
Hi Adam,
It is always such a joy watching you build and seeing your excitement on every project.
What is some great advice you could give to people like myself struggling with finding time to do the hobbies we love?
This is turning out so incredibly good.. Can't wait for the next video
Not for pooping, for bullets.... is the best line
Hi Adam. The boots and legs turned out brilliant. I enjoy how much fun you are having. To be honest I would be like a kid at Christmas. Can't wait to see it finished. Brilliant job. Have a good day. Take Care
Yes! joining the thigh and shin pieces together just automatically gives you the right performance!
Adam your videos are helping my get through covid. Lifelong fan here. Cheers from Canada and thank you
I’ve been watching most of your Videos. You have inspired me to start my own channel. It’s been slow moving but I am enjoying the journey. Thank you very much.
That paint job does look incredible
I like how the boots are appropriately clanky
love these one day builds
So awesome! 🤘🏼
Love the bender for the aluminum bar. I’m stealing that one.
Cool seeing more work done on the MK1 looking forward to more ☺
Awesome!
The feature of the squeak in the knees is a free added bonus!
"Mama says they was magic shoes. They could take me anywhere."
"...not for pooping! For bullets!..." a tragedy also not for pooping bullets.
Awesome the series is back!
I love the *Bandsaw Noises*, maybe you should have a "guess the tool" competition to see who can guess the tool based on its sound :-)
What an awesome modification for the Mk1 suit! Watching this build is inspiring me to get back to work on some of the costume projects I have on the back burner. Just two things that came to mind while watching you put it all together: 1. It would be cool to see you add a gear mechanism to the belt and pulleys on the thighs, so that they move when you bend your knees. 2. I would advise adding a hinge onto the codpiece and butt-flap so they are able to move with you, makes it easier when bending down/crouching so they pieces do not dig in to your flesh.
So, for Adam's next Comic Con he's going as a Velociraptor wearing the Iron Man Mk1, wielding Hellboy's side arm. It's a strong look.
That would be such a great costume at Comic Con.
I can't wait for the painting and weathering video.
I love your Comic Con videos :-)
Dude that's awesome!
Awesome, looking good.
Next an entire episode on griebling and painting!
Adam you have amazing creative skills. Absolutely love your videos.
There's some movement that attaching the leg pieces together totally sells it being a big monolithic metal thing
I would love to see this up close
I love the noise the legs make on the floor when you walk in them
