I have been suffering from low back pain when lying down for a long time. This gave me a great deal of comfort. Gonna keep practicing this. Thank you!!!!
I've found two modifications that help elongate the hip flexors and allow the low back to release even more fully in this excellent position she describes. 1: when you are propped up on your elbows, walk your elbows away from your hips a couple of small increments, then lower down as she describes.2. leaving the legs bent in the final resting position but tying a yoga strap, belt, blanket, the arms of a sweatshirt around your legs on the thigh bone just above the knee. in a position that keeps the legs hip distance apart but supports the weight of the legs, and resting like that for 5-10 min allows the 'frightened animal' of the hip muscles she describes to let go without forcing anything.

Roy I think she meant to push/stabilize your elbows down toward your feet
