Wildcats was cancelled because of its bad critic score, & the toys not selling well. This caused DC comics to strip Nelvana of the license. So what did the critics say that made the show fail? Choppy Animation, Lousy Voice Acting, & Boring Writing!!!😮 They also claimed the Intro Theme was annoying as Heck. While Comic purists hated it, due to it striving too far from the comics. @@jamesmoss3424 I just finished watching the whole show. It became apparent by the end, what the critics were talking about! I found the animation to have altered to an extent, & be very choppy. The Writing wasn't boring, but the acting was so over the top = it became laughably bad! It contradicted earlier episodes, with plotholes (Mainly with the Daemonites themselves, but this was somewhat minor). The show gets darker as it progresses, only to backtrack rather quickly!! Why is something a fail if it last one season? I believe shows are still good, even if there was only one season. Maybe the title should just be one season cartoons of 1995.
Bro lol. The goal of shows is to have multiple seasons. If it gets cut after one season then it didn’t meets its goal. So it’s considered a failure. And yes shows that fail aren’t necessarily bad. But they’re failures nonetheless.
WildC.A.T.S had a rival show called Ultra Force (basically another X-Men ripoff). Both only lasted one season, but what happened afterwards was that both Marvel and DC bought out their publishers (Wild Storm and Malibu) and absorbed the series. Thankfully, they both still exist (WildC.A.Ts belong to DC and show up every now and then, but Ultra Force is pretty much dead...thanks Marvel).
yeah and Malibu getting eaten by Marvel during production of the show is part of why the show ended. Once Marvel's own bankruptcy hit and they came out of it as a division of ToyBiz, Avi Arad said Ultraforce is a Marvel property. I won't have Marvel properties at a rival toy company. So without an Ultraverse toy line, there was no need for a show. Being on in syndication where fewer people would see it meant nobody would notice it was gone.
I remember 1 day i was home sick and watched the pilot to a new cartoon show, it was like Rainbow Brite but the girl was homeless or a troublemaker or something and she got transported to a new dimension and eventually decided to be the good girl. Take out Jim's art, and you're left with an X-Men ripoff, and there were a LOT in the 90s. The Critic is a masterpiece to this day.

I loved The Crtic as a kid. In fact when I worked in San Diego, I purchased it the entire series on DVD during the 2000s. Such an underrated show. I'm not trying to kiss up, but I'm really enjoying this UA-cam series.
Shnookums literally looks like Ren and Stimpy if you have bad vision, or a little kid who doesn't know better, or I guess that's what producers hoped for.
Wild C.A.T.s was fine, but if you were introduced to the comic first, it was definitely jarring. I liked the show well enough, and the theme song lives rent-free in my head.
The Critic was a failure is something I never considered. Legit thought it lasted longer than 2 seasons, especially since it crossover with The Simpsons. But after checking myself, no, you're right it was a failure.
I remember Wild CATs, but I was very into the Marvel VS Image drama at the time. I very rarely watched it, though, because it ran in the same time slot as X-men 😝
The Critic was definitely better on ABC Jon Lovitz was brilliant and they even had Siskel and Ebert guest star When it moved to FOX it was too focused on the romance and his new assistant but still had some good stuff 😊
Wildcats struck me as kind of gargoyles meets X-Men but even though those other two were OK with my mom for some reason, Wildcats offended her Christian sensibilities and we weren’t allowed to watch it. I think maybe the dystopian setting was too dark?
The Critic is amazing. And while Jay has an arrogant attitude he is constantly knocked down a peg or three. Similar to why people liked Michael Scott on the office. It works in my book.
Some of cartoons get real now smh. So ofcthem soud made up especially the something pizza cats lol. Half of the shows u speak of they all sound made up lol..i mean i am thinking what r these people thinking lol.
Aladdin not being on Disney plus is the weirdest thing. It is one of the few times that Disney did a complete full end to end story of a character. Usually you have the prince and the princess meeting and happily ever after. But with Aladdin you had the meeting not getting married but also with the television show working on that relationship then building it up to the final two and third movies that led to their full complete story.
You can't say The Critic as a failure if it survived being cancelled by one network and revived on another. It didn't get a third season more because Fox was not quite ready for a whole night of adult animation. Whereas, WildC.A.T.s died mostly because CBS was trying to trim their Saturday mornings until it was nothing. (All CBS died cartoons were dead by Fall of 1997.)
@@TheReviewStudios At conventions I've the pleasure of talking to people involved with The Critic. All of them agree that had a. home media releases of full seasons been a thing at the time. b. Fox took Sunday's in a weird direction of mixing two animated comedies (Simpsons and King of the Hill) with The X-Files, The Critic PROBABLY would have gotten another season. C. If they knew how well the show would do in its third life as comedy central reruns, they might have had a shot at season three. Though The Simpsons, KOTH, X-Files Sundays sorta made sense. The Simpsons and X-Files were the network's two biggest hits. But it left them with the problem of 'what do we do with the other six days of the week.' Which is why something like 65% of the regular series Fox launched between 1995-2002 were one season wonders and of those some of them didn't even air their full initial 13 order.
Oh man you made my day =3 Wild C.A.T.S - I used to watch this show I liked it tho not a lot. It was fun and had heroes, Most the members are Justice Leagers now, it is funny. The Shnookums & Meat Funny Cartoon Show - I remember the super hero part a tiny bit, I will say I maybe saw a few eps, I just do not remember this show at all, tho I know I saw an ep or three. Littlest Pet Shop - I never saw this, I know of it just never caught my eye The Critic - This, I love this show, it so could come back and he could be a online critic and maybe change some other things, it would be a great show to see return. Simspons are tired and old and not funny anymore. This show I wish they bring back and the movies he review where bad, they could make up a few movies now and then add a real movie or two it be a great show really they missing out not brining him back. Bump In The Night - I be honest, this is the first time I heard of this show LOL Well my rant over I will like this video mostly for the Critic and second place Wild Cats, hopefully you do not mind my rants LOL

Few glorified toy commercials did well in the 90s. Thanks forthe flashback
Wild C.A.T.s was fine, but if you were introduced to the comic first, it was definitely jarring. I liked the show well enough, and the theme song lives rent-free in my head.
As the first black female head of the KayKK, id just like to say: America Stinkz
u.s. secretary of balloon doggies
I remember The Littlest Pet Shop being on UPN in the afternoons, usually before Sailor Moon. (At least in the SF Bay Area)
I genuinely thought the "bump in the night" characters were figments of my imagination...
The Critic was a failure is something I never considered. Legit thought it lasted longer than 2 seasons, especially since it crossover with The Simpsons. But after checking myself, no, you're right it was a failure.
I Love Duckman and The Critic, I want to bring Them both to Nick at Nite!😂🤣❤️📺🎶👍🏻
Bump in the night was my favorite along with Super Fudge on ABC
I only Remember watching The Critic and I remember Wild C.A.T.S more for the toy line than the show
Wildcats struck me as kind of gargoyles meets X-Men but even though those other two were OK with my mom for some reason, Wildcats offended her Christian sensibilities and we weren’t allowed to watch it. I think maybe the dystopian setting was too dark?
The Critic is amazing. And while Jay has an arrogant attitude he is constantly knocked down a peg or three. Similar to why people liked Michael Scott on the office. It works in my book.
The Critic was such a great show. "If I could be any vegetable, I'd be a carrot."
The critic did not the credit it deserved.
I watched all except Littlest Pet Shop. It's too bad The Critic didn't have a much longer life.
The Critic was awesome!
Some of cartoons get real now smh. So ofcthem soud made up especially the something pizza cats lol. Half of the shows u speak of they all sound made up lol..i mean i am thinking what r these people thinking lol.
The Critic was awesome. When I saw Jay Sherman on Simpsons I though it was Allan Sherman as a kid
Littlest Pet Shop is extremely underrated. I have all the American VHS releases and a promotional tape.
Gosh, Schnookums and Meat was obnoxious. Was it supposed to be a discount Ren and Stimpy?
remember jays wacky dad el cabong the u.s. secretary of balloon doggies on the critic.
I saw four out of five of these! It scares me how much TV I must have watched as a kid, I didn't realise how obscure some of these shows were 😂
I have seen the newer Littlest Pet Shop and it was great. The one with Blythe Baxter who can talk to animals. Also the Critic to me was a success.
Yeah that one falls more into the "Short Lived" category
That WildC.A.T.S. theme song unlocked *memoriessssssss*
Nice
So the critic was supposed to move again- this time to UPN but fox sat on the rights for too long
Bump in the Night was amazing, the Christmas special is still one of my fav Christmas shows.
I can agree with that
Oh man you made my day =3
Wild C.A.T.S - I used to watch this show I liked it tho not a lot.
Littlest Pet Shop - I never saw this, I know of it just never caught my eye
The Critic - This, I love this show, it so could come back and he could be a online critic and maybe change some other things, it would be a great show to see return. Simspons are tired and old and not funny anymore. This show I wish they bring back and the movies he review where bad, they could make up a few movies now and then add a real movie or two it be a great show really they missing out not brining him back.
Bump In The Night - I be honest, this is the first time I heard of this show LOL
Well my rant over I will like this video mostly for the Critic and second place Wild Cats, hopefully you do not mind my rants LOL
I own 3 littlest pet shop vhs , love you can find it on UA-cam
Man I miss The Critic!!!! So good🤣🤣🤣
WildC.A.T.S. was X-Men light.
I never knew Wild C.A.T.S. had an animated cartoon. Great point is listing out the shows it was not to be confused with. Such awesome nostalgia.
Thanks for sharing
90's Littlest Pet Shop was great. 😀👍
Had the Wildcats comics but didn't know it was a show.
Who else has that feeling somewhere between their chest and tummy while watching these? I can NOT believe I am fixing to be 42!!!! It feels like JUST yesterday! I really feel so very bad for modern children!
We love to hear this! Thank you so much for your views and comments!
