Timothy B. Schmit on lead vocals. He joined the Eagles in 1977 after the Hotel California tour.
From Poco
He has a new album out this week
@@michelleortega1514 really? That’s great news. Such and smooth and sultry voice❤️🇨🇦
@@michelleortega1514 I just listened to Heartbeat. Thank you for letting us know ❤️🇨🇦
He replaced the bassist, Randy Meisner (also from Poco), one of the founding members of the Eagles/ Linda Ronstadt's backup band, who was the lead vocalist on "Take It To The Limit". He left during the Hotel California tour, when, to to health issues & angst over being separated from his family, he felt unable to perform the very challenging vocals of Take It.., & ended getting into an intense confrontation w/ the late Glenn Frey, who demanded that he perform the piece anyway.
I think I may have seen one of (if not, the last) his last performances when I attended their concert at Chicago Stadium in Oct.of '77. By that point, they had taken on Don Felder & Joe Walsh, but had lost another founding member, Bernie Leadon, the banjo-picker, who had given the group their early country sound. Henley's the only original member left w/ the group, although Bernie & Randy haven't "slipped the surly bonds" yet.
You know you're one hell of a band when your drummer, guitarist, or in this case, bass player can take lead vocals and have a hit. Timothy's voice is smoooooth on this track. I agree with you. Not being able to react to their music is a travesty. This is a true gem you've found. Thanks, Jay!
You summed it up nicely!
Hey fellow human Seven Bridges!!!!!!!!!!!!!!✌️
Seven bridges!!!!!!!!!!❤️✌️😉
Every member of the Eagles is as good a lead singer as other mega groups leading singer.
My favorite Eagles song. Something about it, so sensual, sad, but also hopeful.
I just love this song. I love all the Eagle songs but I particularly love this one.
Me too!!!❤️ Makes me think of football in the fall at highschool ...gentle breeze...✌️
Same❤️
Same here, and then One Of These Nights. Always loved Don's excellent drumming.
Timothy B Schmidt also sings "Love Will Keep Us Alive" with the Eagles
@@sylvialawrence4431 Absolutely…I Can’t Tell You Why, then One Of These Nights! Their top 2 songs for sure.
I just love Timothy B.Schmit's voice........... smooth like butter ✌️
And sweeter than honey❣️
Smooth like butta
And he's gorgeous...❤❤❤❤❤
One of the most Beautiful Love songs Ever written!
I’m 61 years old and it gives me great joy to see your reactions to the Eagles❣️ We all knew they were great, back then❣️
65 years young, we were blessed to grow up in those times.
Timothy usually plays guitar....but when he sings, he's magical!!! Everyone in The Eagles could sing!!!🎶🎼🎵🎧🎹🎙🥁🎸🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘
Bass guitar......the guitarists were Don Felder playing lead here, Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh
He's a Bassist
Yes that’s a Bass!!!
Plays bass
you mean bass guitar lols since day 1 his role was bass guitar
My late wife and I had just returned home after having spent four years in Hong Kong while I completed my postgrad fellowship, and this Eagles song was playing in the delivery room while our second child was being born. You maybe can imagine how much this song resonates to me, and to my only daughter too.
It must mean so much. Very special
Love is amazing. Just as life is also. Music puts you there no matter where you are.
Love 'em, hate 'em, heard too much of them, or can't get enough of them...there is no denying the talent in this band. One of the most prolific quintets to ever grace a concert hall, sound studio, or car radio.
Tim Schmite was the most underrated singer in the group. His voice was calm, smooth and just absolutely beautiful. Just my opinion. 🙋♀️❤💯🎼😘
One of the best groups ever
It just gives me the chills and takes me back years ... Timothy B Schmit sang lead on this one.
The amazing thing about this song is that the Eagles had just fired their bass player and then hired a new guy, and when he was learning all their songs, they asked him, "What have you got for us?" And he said, I'm the new guy, I'm just the bass player and you guys are the.. Eagles! And they said, Don't worry, we all contribute. So he said, Well, I wrote this song about a man who can't give up on a breakup called I Can't Tell You Why. And they said, dude, that's why we hired you.
The members in this video:
" Glenn Frey " ~ ( co-founder ) keyboard , vocals and gave the count,
" Timothy B. Schmidt " ~ bass and lead vocals;
" Don Henley " ~ ( co-found ) drums and vocals;
" Don Felder " ~ guitar;
" Joe Walsh " ~ keyboard ( to the right side of Glenn, with a moustache ).
Excellent band.
This track has Timothy B. Schmidt as the lead. The Eagles have 6 different leads, depending on the album and track. It’s usually Don Henley or Glenn Frey, but there are also some gems from Joe Walsh, Randy Meisner, Bernie Leadon and Schmidt.
Life's been good to me so far✌️❤️☺️

Finally someone else said that!!!! I keep waiting I mean in my top ten!😃☮️😎
No Don Felder? I'm pretty sure he played guitar solo's on a lot of the songs on the album, not to mention most of their rock albums, but definitely this one. No mention?
This song is heavenly. The Eagles at their very best.
You will never hear a bad Eagle's song.
This is such a beautiful emotional song.
Love it. 🇨🇦
When you have Don Henley, Glen Frey, and Joe Walsh singing background vocals and Don Felder playing behind you the voice better be great and Timothy B Schmidt delivered.
Seriously such a stacked lineup. Im so glad the younger generations are discovering things like this.
Another Eagles Masterpiece! Timothy was another great add to the group.
Really can’t go wrong with any Eagles song. My favorite is One of These Nights. It also has my favorite Felder guitar solo. The wonderful Bass line in the song was when by Felder too.
Same!! My favorite song. Soooo good.
YES. my fave too.
FR One of These Nights, New Kid In Town and Lyin Eyes are my top 3 favs
@@arturomarin3601 OOH love new kid in town. that one is underappreciated.
Yep One Of These Nights is also my favorite.
I love so many of the Eagles hits but this is by far my favorite. Timothy B. Schmidt gets your attention with his vocals. This is a beautiful song.
I can't believe that was over 40 years ago, it still makes me get chills every time I hear it. It has a beautiful sadness. Its my favorite Eagles song. Thank you
New Kid In Town is a must!!!! Everything about it is so well thought out and sung perfectly
My favorite of the Eagles
The Eagles started out as Linda Ronstadt’s backup band in the early 70s. She made them famous. You should do lots more Linda Ronstadt reactions, she is amazing. One of the best female vocalist of the 70s along with Karen Carpenter!
She is my favorite :)
Karen's better....lol
@@Grace1957- u think Linda is better than Karen??
@@michaelasay8587 didn’t say she wasn’t. I said that Linda is great too
@@michaelasay8587 Karen was awesome but Linda is #1 for me.
Welcome to the music that I grew up with. This is pure magic, no synthesizers just very talented men expressing themselves through their music. Enjoy.
I love to see young people enjoying the songs a bunch of us old folks grew up to!
Maybe through you, these songs and those who made them won’t be forgotten!
The Eagles are the no. 1 band in the world. Each member is special and brings unmatched value to their music.
Timothy B Schmit also sings lead on "Love Will Keep Us Alive". Highly recommended!
Singer is bassist Timothy B Schmidt. He replaced Randy Meissner on bass in the late 70s. Beautiful gentle tenor voice. They can all sing. Such a talented group
timothy Schmit plays the bass guitar....I love his voice.
In my family, when we go on road trips, everyone wants control of the radio, so to keep the piece, we put in an Eagles cd and cruise along, singing the songs.
The Eagles are always played on a car journey. It's a must!
So love this song ... Timeless .
My favorite Eagles song... Ugh my heart 😍
One of my favorite songs of all time. Timothy B. Schmit's amazing voice with that harmonizing...just wow.
I was lucky to see the Eagles live twice before Glenn Frey's untimely death. Timothy Schmidt still sings sublimely.
Rip Glenn fry I loved heartache tonight I love the eagles because they don’t just have one lead singer they got don henley, Joe Walsh Glenn fry etc..
Timothy Schmidt is an outstanding base guitar player & singer with the Eagles. A true team player and stabilizing member.
This is ultimately my favorite Eagles song. I love Hotel California and the others, but always loved Timothy B Schmidt’s voice.
Nice to see Millennials apreciating great music.
Timothy B. Schmidt has the voice of an angel! He is also so handsome!
My absolute #1 favorite guitar solo of all time. So much feeling. So much emotion. No flash. No playing 1,000 notes in .3milliseconds. Just pure heavenly perfection. *sigh*
I remember being about 10 years old when this song came out and just playing it over and over again. Honestly I love it as much now as I did 40 years ago💗
In my opinion, the most talented group of singers and musicians every put together!
It’s a beautiful song with beautiful lyrics, vocals, and melody that never gets old❤️
Eagles have been my favorites since 1972. I have seen them 11 times in concert. They are amazing!
At the end, when Don Felder smiled at Timothy Schmit, it was an affirmation that they had just recorded a hit.
I love this band since the 70’s❤
This Eagles song is one of my favorites. Smooth as silk. ❤ Makes you want to fall in love all over again. I can't tell you why.
One of my favorites. Such a seductive song and melody.
I am crazy about this song..I keep playing this music..I never feed up..wow!
One of my favorite Eagles songs. Soooo smooth. This live on their Hell Freezes Over concert was 👌🏼👌🏼🔥🔥 Favorite song of theirs is One Of These Nights. Such a groovy song.
100%
Hell Freezes Over was an iconic album.
This is my first time hearing this song and its FIRE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥!!
This whole song is like silk on the ears
This is one of the most beautiful songs live. I have seen them in concert twice and if you close your eyes and just listen you'd swear that you were listening to the album. They are THAT good. They're just so exact and perfect! I love this band so much. Makes me sad that Glenn Frey died though. Such a great legend forever gone. Also, the guy singing is their bass player. His name is Timothy B. Schmitt. While he is not one of the originals to the band he has been with them for 40 years! Glen Frey has pretty much always been considered the "lead singer" of the band even though many of them had hits from singing too. The whole entire band is exceptionally talented.
Just found out that Schmitt was in Poco... 😀
There's only a few bands that sound just as good live as they do on their albums and the Eagles are one. They have sooo many grat songs. Try Life in the Fast Lane.
True. Nightwish is one that is better live.
Always brings tears to my eyes !!! 😢
The harmonies are outstanding. So
Glad I got to live my younger years with this group …. one of many !!!!🥰
One of my fave Eagles songs, just beautiful. So glad Timothy sang this one, his voice was perfection.
It's the harmony baby nobody sounds like the eagles their voices Blended beautifully five part harmony absolutely incredible timeless beautiful amazing music
One of my favorite songs.
Timothy b Schmidt. Talented musicians. Nobody can harmonize like the Eagles...
Nobody makes music like this anymore! So glad I grew up during this era of music!
One hell of a band, they all had talent and all sang. Love this song. Also love Witchy Woman, Lyin’ Eyes, The Best Of My Love, and Tequila Sunrise. Got to see them with my aunt while visiting in California for their Hell Freezes Over tour. Whew, that was a while ago. I was raised on The Eagles. Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, The Beatles, Linda Ronstadt and Dolly Parton. Always enjoy your reactions,
one of the sweetest guitar work I know...well balanced and just the right notes w/the right tension--well done Felder
It is so nice to see the younger generation appreciating classic rock
One of the best bands that ever were. Brings back great memories ❤️
Felder's guitar solo is still one of my favorites.
The Eagles!... Soundtrack for my life... Absolutely the best!
Timothy B. Schmit is singing lead on this one...one of my favorite songs ever!! Eagles are pure magic!!🎶🎵🎸
Timothy Schmit on lead vocals here. Amazing voice and one of my favorite Eagles songs!
Eagles are like an All Star team, everyone can pitch
I love it how Timothy B Schmidt (and predecessor Randy Meisner) bookended The Eagles from the bottom end with the Bass, and the top end with his vocal range and falsetto in their famous harmonies.
Poco must have been pissed that The Eagles twice poached their Bassist
The eagles could Crank it up and rock with the best... What really made them special was to control it and just let the music express itself. The understatement, the modulation from major to minor chords, it's just beautiful..
I love the Eagles, everyone of the group could sing and yes the harmonies are brilliant sweetheart. I agree that more Eagles songs should be heard especially by the people who produce modern music so they can hear why the music of the past was far better with real singers and musicians. Oops, I get so angry sometimes at how they are selling their listeners down the river. You and many others of the younger generation appreciate what talent is and that is marvellous, they shouldn't be forgotten. God bless you all love hugs and peace Mary-Ellen UK
timeless...🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of their best songs! 👍👍👍
Timothy B Schmit, Vocals and bass player, he took over for Randy Meisner, Who did some vocals and, bass player. Randy Meisner was in Poco, left the group to help form the Eagles. When Randy left the Eagles they needed a new bass player and again went to Poco to get Timothy B Schmit. “Take It To The Limit“ Live 1976 Randy Meisner vocal
Pure Talent!
Is this smooth or what?? Love this song!
Love this band❤️❤️❤️🎵🎵🎵🎵
This is my Favorite Song they Sing ... Gezz they never had a Bad Song and Tim is Truly Gifted with the Voice....
My favorite Eagles song ❤
LOVE , LOVE THIS SONG. SOOOO GOOD. Love this group. always have. That's TIMMY. Not a usual lead singer in the group, BUT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE GUYS CAN SING. He is the High voice in the group . All combined have some of the best ever HARMONYS , HANDS DOWN.
One of the best Eagles songs! ♥
They all sing- beautifully too !!! 👍💗
I love how you truly enjoy music
Definitely my favorite Eagles song
When Timothy B. Schmit sings I believe every word....He can sing anything to me
This is the music I grew up on. The Eagles were a great 70's band with so many hit songs. They were known for their great harmonies. "Take It Easy", "Witchy Woman", "Desperado", "Already Gone", "Best of My Love", "Lyin' Eyes", "Take It to the Limit", Hotel California, "New Kid in Town" etc. Before they went solo they were the back up band for Linda Ronstadt.
This is such a smooth groove! I don't know a lot of their earlier stuff, but this is great.
I was 17 or 18 when this came out...One of my ALL TIME favorites!!! Smooth, beautiful and Tommys vocal are so easy to sing along with...This song is a classic!!!
I love this band
I'm surprised "I Can't Tell You Why" didn't cross over into the R&B charts when it was released.
It did chart #3 on the Adult Contemporary and #8 on the Hot 100.
Yes! My favorite Eagles.
Timothy Schmidt is the singer's name.
This is in my Top 3 Eagles songs of all time. Sweet honest vocals from Tim Schmidt, simple arrangement, great backing vocals, and a tasty guitar. Heaven.
This is a beautiful song. Soulfully sung, gives you all the feels.
Classic! Immortal song
almost everyone in the Eagles can sing. That was Timothy Schmidt who replaced Randy Meisner who also had a high vocal range. they took turns with lead singers but their harmonies are what they are known for. The Eagles are at the top of my list.
Love the opening and ending to this song....
So smooth and beautiful.A real love song.❤
Beautiful love this song!
