Yup. Just went on annual leave. Got hounded by customers who wanted stuff done. Their emails got an annual vacation response with alternate contact so they phone and leave nasty messages. I locked the phone and the laptop in the safe for 2 weeks. On returning home I find that none of the stuff was "that" urgent. They just can't stand it when they can't get hold of you. It's a by product of this instant access world we live in.
@@dowalstudios Yep. I work with trades (as a sparky with lots of experience) and provide tech support for a type of PLC across multiple time zones. So I have guys calling at 04:00 to 21:00 or later demanding answers to questions that might be frustrating when you're on site in the middle of nowhere trying to fault find, but in the great scheme of things aren't worthy of stuffing someone around for. Apparently they snuck it into my contract (and it can't possibly be legal) that I have a minimum support turnaround. On some government contracts I'm apparently available 24/7. Which I didn't know until after I got back from leave. Mobile phones are an electronic collar. I hate them, and will regularly go days without the phone if I can get away with it.
I 100 percent agree with this video, but the problem is there are so so many people on the planet that will do it and this company knows that. I have a class A CDL and used to have to sleep In the truck overnight then after my DOT federal law 10 hour break was up I'd finish up and drive back. It DID start to bother me. The problem is there are literally thousands of other drivers that will do it. Don't even get me started on pay. It's the same issue. So many people will accept a Lower then what should be paid wage because they need a job. But I absolutely do agree with You.
_If you want me to have an app on a phone, issue me a phone with the app. This is a fortune 500 company, I refuse to use my limited resources for the equipment required to do my job. Nor am I legally required too._
Operative words there, "...your cellphone". "Yes, that's right, my cellphone, my cellphone bills, I will decide what goes on it and what doesn't and whose number I pick up. Thank you for your time, you're now delaying me answering your email."
There's just no way I'll ever download any work-related apps onto my personal phone. Also, most of those apps come with spyware or monitoring capabilities.
My rent don't get paid in appreciation
That's right
I’m not downloading anything from work onto my phone
I stand with you
Should have added, _"...if that makes sense."_

Very well said, that is the issue now all around the world.
That makes sence snd she is totally correct! That is a problem with some Companies! If you expect work from a employee, except to pay them!!?
Some do not want to pay more for the extra service
I do the job, and then I get paid. ua-cam.com/video/2v1k1W5DD7c/v-deo.html
Employees should not have to do anything related to work during the hours they are not working or getting paid!
💯
Gross violation of my privacy
