On one hand these two things feel like they go together perfectly. On the other hand I saw neither gameplay or product so this may have well just been a 3 minute cartoon.

Didn't the event last week show teaser gameplay of this, the racing game and the rhythm one? Well, what the other version will be like not the watered down Switch version. I just only got a glimpse of screen shots but never watched what the event showed so I could be wrong.

Technically it is.
Fortnite is becoming less of a singular game/ battle Royale, and more-so a platform (like Roblox, for example.) That's pretty much what the end of the Big Bang event was showing off with those interconnecting galaxies.

Lego Worlds was basically this. But it looks like they refined it and made it more like Minecraft. Plus Minecraft has Lego sets. I’m sure more collabs planned. Annnnnnnd this is free

It is technically. Epic Games is trying to change its branding setup such that Fortnite Battle Royale, much like Save the World, becomes one of many game modes to play (they're releasing this alongside new mario-kart-esque and guitar-hero-esque modes) , effectively making Fortnite a platform similar to Roblox and Minecraft.
Fornite is basically trying to transfer itself from being a battle royale shooter......into becoming roblox, but better..... I say that cause with unreal engine to mod fornite, that can teach u skills to turn game design into a CARRER learning the tools of unreal engine, also because i won't get pay walled while playing a creative map unlike roblox

Eh, that would be too visually noisy IMO. Being able to quickly distinguish between backgrounds and important elements is a critical part of visual design.

You can use some emotes as minifigs, when selecting emotes you can see if it's usable in Lego Fortnite
No, icon emotes won't work on minifig skins
