  • The Power Scale setting in LightBurn lets you adjust the power output of any shape(s) in your project, without the need for multiple layers. Common applications are highly customized material tests and optimizing jobs with widely varying power values.
Here is a high-level overview of how Power Scale works.

Holy crap! The best information that I didn't even know I needed!!! I have had this problem in a few projects . Thank you!

Can't wait to try this. I often struggle with small text and objects needing less power than the other objects. Until now, I've had to created additional layers.

Definitely can be very helpful. I could've used this on a recent project.

Is there a way to scale power based on speed?
It seems like this should be just the default but from what I've read, there's a threshold where the power jumps from max to min once it gets below that set speed (not clear on what that setting is, however, as I've tried to change things and I can't)... So instead of it being either min or max, it could be a scale so that as the laser slows down toward a corner, for instance, it will also reduce the power proportionately, not just after it hits the set speed for switching to min?
I hope this question makes sense. Thanks.

As an idea with the test grid, can you add a border so as to cut it out please. Thank you

is this as much of an issue with a CO2 laser? i noticed the demo was with a LED or diode laser.

Not sure what you mean by “as much of an issue”. This is primarily showing that you can adjust the power output of individual shapes while still engraving them all at the same time. It works on all supported hardware.

I still don't fully understand the meaning behind it. A second layer was driven with less power. I don't need the option for that? I can adjust the performance directly in the new layer.

Yes, you can run a second layer but it will complete the first layer and them come back for the second layer. With this, it will complete everything in one pass. It can be really important for job optimization. This is a small example but on a larger scale the time savings can be substantial.
