absolute clarity in the way you break things down. my 80+ year old brain now understands making test grids, something I have struggled. Thankyou very much.
Thank you for all the help you are giving to all who seek it and as minute as it may seem, one of the things I like is the pointer you use while telling us all the info that you give, so many times I have the problem following along because I can't follow their tiny little white pointer, yours is big and able to be followed. Thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to do, and explain all of this. Definitely saved me time and process in my mind relating. Now to figure out some numbers!
Excellent work! Im stepping into a job at a makers space and I'm going to be using this to teach my stakeholders about testers and when/ why we use them!
I think i understand the Speed being set to 100% but the columns being set to 10, 20 and 30, but correct me if I'm wrong. Is the 100% saying that 100 speed is the baseline to measure from and therefore the 10 is 10% of 100 and the 20 is 20% of 100 and 30 is 30% of 100? So for example if you put 50 as the speed for the Row to be the baseline, but left the 10, 20 and 30, would the 10 then be 10% of 50 which is actually 5%, and 20 be 20% of 50 which is actually 10%, and so on?
Used Lightburn Focus test pattern with my new Gwieke 50W. Narrowed down the best thin line cut at Z=14 mm, 120 speed and 55% power. when I cut my part, the outline was burned wide and not close to all the way through. The only option shown when I click on "cuts/layers" to open the cutting settings editor is "Z offset" Tried everything on Z offset from -2 mm to 11. 11 crashes the laser into the work. Every other offset just gives the same fat ugly cut line. Any suggestions? There must be a Z setting someplace else? PS - in Lightburn Focus test the little settings labels were cut perfectly too!
Hi! There’s any chance that you can explain how to cut the hood either the laser using the lighburn software? I’m having struggles with that so will be a big help🙏🏻
When setting the Shape Properties, after setting the Speed for each row, couldn't you set the Power for each column, also? I don't know, just seems feasible.
I’m not sure if this is a version update, but today after updating I tried your video and discovered, once you select the rows, in shape properties you can select the ENTIRE column and make all of them the percentages in stead of one by one.
Hey Jason - you can just go to my website: asherdiy.com, and you'll find it in the "free files" page, which is linked in the menu at the top of the homepage.
is your hot air balloon images available on your web site? I was going to follow along with your tutorial - enjoyed making the key rings. Will be watching most of your videos going forwards!
Hello, Im using a desktop connected to a 4k tv and all the symbols are teeny tiny! I can barely click them. The size of the font and everything else is fine. Do you know if how to enlarge them?
I have the same configuration. From Windows go to Display Properties (right click on blank area of screen and pick Display Properties from the pop-up menu), select the display you want to change, scroll down to the "Scale and layout" section there is a "Change the size of text, apps, and other items". Pick a higher percentage say 150% to make everything 1.5 times bigger.
Good question- I’ve never tried it on leather to be honest so I’m not sure. In theory, I can’t think of any reason it wouldn’t work. Let me know if you learn otherwise, I’d be curious.
I am new to lightburn and I just got a xtool D1 pro10w. When trying to setup a material test I am only getting the grid but not speed and power intervals. Is there a way to turn this on?
If you mean that the power and speed labels aren’t showing up when you run the project, then the power and speed settings for the labels themselves is probably too low. Those can be edited in the test generator by clicking on one of the buttons on the bottom. I believe it’s called “text settings” or something like that. Hope that helps!
Hi, I am trying to download your free test files, and I received the welcome page in my email. However, there is no "link" to click on to receive the files at the bottom of the page. What am I missing? Thanks ...
Hi Janice - did you have a look in your spam folder? There definitely is a free test grid and it goes through most of the time, but occasionally there are technical issues that cause it to get stuck in a spam folder or something like that. I hope you find it there, all the best!
@@asherdiy Thanks for replying, they were not in either, but when you send them this time I did get them in email. Looking forward to using them, thanks.

Super interesting - that might be new, I've never seen that before! Thanks for pointing it out.
I got your test pattern thank you the laser is not running them it just goes in a square what am I doing wrong 😢

Hi Asher, when i run the test my boxes are just outlined not filled in . What am i doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated.
My guess is that the engrave "mode" set to "Line" instead of "Fill". You can find this setting in the cuts/layers menu in Lightburn.

Quick question, is your GRBL set at 20000? as well as Lightburn?
Thanks

Can you change the settings from mm to inches?
Yes. It’s under either the device settings or general settings. I can’t remember which one offhand. Just checking both should reveal the location.

You didn't send the files for the test grid, was that just subscription click bait?
