Wow, just a different time. Karen got to play! She is essentially the straight man here providing the back bone which is really all she ever wanted. Beautiful. Thank you for sharing this fascinating beautiful skit. It made me smile!
Thank you, NedNickerson, for posting this video. Just like those other people who asked for it, I greatly appreciate any and all footage if it features even a single second of Karen Carpenter's presence, our beloved angel.
Lots of comedy skits back then were corny. Karen is as cute as ever!!! She truly was a natural talent, in so many ways. Karen was definitely born to be in front of the camera. I wish she had the chance to truly do and experience everything she wanted to do. I love to see and hear Karen in everything she has done, I thought I’d seen em all. Thank you for sharing memories of Karen!! 💜💜
Me too! I was lucky to be around to watch and listen since day one. Miss her so much! Everyone that met her only had good things to say about her.A special soul.Voice of an angel and a great sense of humor. There has never been another Karen.
What a talent line-up-Karen, Jonathan Winters, Ozzie and Harriet Nelson and Andy. Andy's original variety show was much more laid-back than this. Then he took off for a couple years and came back with this hipper version. Remember the cookie bear!!! Love it!!
Make sure you check out Carpenter, Grease on youtube --LEGENDARY. She cuts loose not even singing in her own voice. She was supposed to be a superb mimic.
@@hppysmiley I FINALLY found the name of the actor who you thought was Fred Willard. His name is Ted Zeigler. He was a character actor and comedy writer. He played "Johnny Jellybean" on Canadian television in the mid 1960s and was "Uncle Bucky" on Chicago morning television. In 1970, he relocated to Los Angeles, worked with the ensemble troupe on the “Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour” and performed and wrote for the “The Andy Williams Show,” “The Carol Burnett Show” and “The Ken Berry Show.” Sadly, he passed in 1999. Boy, that sure stuck in my craw. Took me long enough to remember where I had seen him!
Robert Silvestri, Actually, that's not Fred Willard. He's a Canadian actor named Ted Zeigler. He was a regular on the Sonny and Cher show, occasionally on the Carol Burnett Show and performed and wrote for the Andy Williams Show.
@@hppysmiley If you notice Ozzie introduces himself as "Fred." His name "Fred" is deliberately throughout the credits for comic relief. He then credits his own barber, who is Willard: "Fred's haircut by Willard the Barber."
Maybe it's just me, but it almost seems like they're making fun of Karen by making her play the part of an inept drummer. But perhaps it was all in fun and I'm just taking it the wrong way. I like how she kept "playing" the hi-hat even though it wasn't there. Funny stuff.
Rod Labbe: Maine ain't the Deep South by a LONG shot! Alabama is the Deep South! (So are Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina, for that matter.)
Karen had a really nice flair for comedy.
Karen’s so cute 🥺😂🥰 she likes comedy you can tell. She’s a natural. I just love her 💖
I noticed that she probably started laughing by the way she covered her face. 💙
Exactly what I was going to say!Miss you so much karen!
❤ She was also a very good drummer....in fact before she was famous for her beautiful voice. rip K❤

Yes! I agree with you. It's just great to see her in comedy as well.
Me too! Want to see every second. It brings back so many memories! She still makes me smile ear to ear.

She would have been great at Comedy, Acting. She auditioned for the part of Mattie Ross in True Grit but lost to Kim Darby.
She was 20 yrs old here.
Thank you for posting. It just shows how truly special Karen is. So versatile
I'd do anything bring back Karen
Not really
@@pbamse Yes really.
@@MarcusStaAnaBurSelF Shut up, sissy.

Karen looks cute...!
Karen doesn't speak in this, but is really funny anyway! Thanks for posting!!
Karen is sooooooo funny LOL

This isn't the least bit funny. Total waste of Karen's talent.
Wonderful to see Karen, Thanks for posting.
I think that the actor who in this videoclip kicks in the bass drum was a regular cast member of "The Sonny & Cher Show" in the early 1970's.
Good to see Ozzie and Harriet Nelson!
Brings back lots of great memories. Thanks.
Haaaa! Karen always made me laugh and still does! Thank You Karen!Love You and Miss You so much!!!♥️

Karen Could Do Anything She Is Truly Missed
worth it just to see that semi-close-up of Karen C for 2 seconds--from 3:30 to 3:32! she looks beautiful. thanks for posting
So I'm originally from New England/NH (mentioned later in the video), and like Karen, this is the best
The guy in the gray suit is Fred Willard. Karen is adorable.
Robert Silvestri:
Did anyone know who Fred Willard was before 1979? (I don't recall even hearing of him before "Real People" premiered in 1979.)
tiner s could have fooled me. The credits even say “Fred's Hair Willard the Barber”

Ossie Snick/Owen Sinclair ***LOL*** great to see Ozzie and Harriett along with Karen
;-)
Ned, Yes, it is corny but it's damn cute corny! I love all the silliness! Thanks for posting this. : )
Yes, and this cornball stuff was popular in that time period. Lots of movies showed madcap scenes like this.
This was nice to see. Is this the same show where the Carpenters sang "Ticket to Ride/What Do You Get When You Fall in Love" with Andy?
Craziness
...
🤣🤣🤣😍
Is that jerry maren as a basket ball player..
What this skit needs is a bit more laugh track
LOL funny, thanx

She actually enjoyed doing comedy routines
duchovny2:
That doesn't surprise me.
Richard should have been on this lousy skit! Richard was probably with his snooty selfish
mommy. Karen deserved better!
Jonathan Winters had it wrong--Maine isn't the deep south.
Rod Labbe:
Maine ain't the Deep South by a LONG shot! Alabama is the Deep South! (So are Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina, for that matter.)
I noticed that. Maybe he wasn't as talented as we thought and that was the only accent he could do.
Are you sure this was a comedy skit?
