I am a wood worker and have been for 50 plus years (i am 79 years old) if I was younger I would buy a small saw mill for personal use. I have cedar, walnut, dogwood, chinaberry and I don;'t know what else that I need sawed up right now. it is rare I cut anything longer than 8 ft. I do a lot of glueing and turning. I have wood given to me often. At this time I can't find a saw mill close to me. This has always been a problem, Most have a min charge of 200$ plus. People give me wood knowing I will turn them something I do everything but can't do the sawmill work. I enjoy watching the two of you. GOD BLESS . ,
I’ve been watching y’all for a while really enjoy watching. Me and my father ordered a LT35 last may hopefully we will get it sometime this year I’m 63 and my father is 88 today I really want him to run it while he can he has been fighting cancer for 3 years now. Keep videos coming thanks
Just picked up my LT 40 (HYDRAULIC) And yes I'm Older Tyler lol!!!! A couple of weeks ago and super excited to start learning it. Love yall's videos I ordered my mill in May of 2022 and just got it and have learned a lot from your videos keep up the good work take care!!!
I think you hit it on the head as far as these three items you must have answers for all three first!! Then if the answer to number one is that you are going to be needing a large width mill, you need to add a question one A which is "how do you intend to move and load your logs, flitches, and slabs??? I love it when you show Brittany sawing or driving the tractor, confirming that she is a real partner in your operation!!
I have been sawmilling full time for about a year now. I bought a brand new lt40 super wide head with command control and all the options except the diesel engine. I cut mostly southern yellow pine. Not knowing alot about sawmilling when I started I underestimated the importance of a board edger. I immediately realized I needed an edger so I bought a like new eg100 . It's a good machine for the price but it is no where near big enough for what I am doing I hope to up grade to a much bigger edger in the future.
Number 4 Wear your Wallace farm and sawmill hat ,,,it will make you look like you know what your doing. Just got mine , good quality , love it Thanks.😂 😂
Thanks for the info on saw size. In the pass you covered board feet. Next slow time could you show how you come up with sawing the log to get the size of boards needed, how much to make on 1st cut, when to turn he log, maybe short cuts (make cuts & flip to get the size needed from the log. Keep'em coming.
People never think about just how they get the log on the mill.. or how to move boards sawed. Another would be just where are you going to leave the mill at. Of course, the wood has sawdust and waste from those logs. Plus some folks just don't realize your location is important. Any ordinance on having equipment running has to be allowed to do this. You said that ten points was easy enough to mention and yet I could go on all day of the things that might of been said.
Yes you got good points if you place to cut for yourself a 5 acres you will get what you need I got 12 and I can't take care of all the wood that needs to be prosses for the waste product if you live in a area that got camping you can sell your slat in bundle fire but don't forget that is extra labor and you can't ask the price of prime fire wood have a great day
Some very good information. I've got several rollers that I intend to use for a table in the future and hopefully in the near future I can get some built after I build my dry out shed. Enjoyed the video
I like seeing you guys wearing hearing protection. I have many things that are of interest to me and a lot have a lot of noise, I see operators not wearing hearing protection and wonder how long before they have to have hearing aids.
Most need to fo as me so they know all the business. Small scale red cedar logger got a chainsaw mill to cut up the good logs that was to small for a mill to buy😢. Made alot of 6x6 100 follor porch post out of waist to mills. Then got a smaller mill and traded up as i could. I can easily load that trailer several times a day cutting pine come do one of them a day with red cedar. More like 1 every other day
i had asked you to put a shoot for the sawdust and you put a hose on their, instead of having go on the ground why not put a burlap bag on the hose and catch the sawdust and then you could have bags of sawdust ,instead of being on the ground, what do you think!!!!!
I surely do like Brittany's lime green sawmill cap. It looks quite fetching on her haid. Love the sawblade on that good looking leather patch. New order of all black? H€LL NO! I hate black (caps & t-shirts) . Too dang hot in the summer ☀️ 😮💨 😫. I'll have to hold out for one of them lime greens. Brittany can sell me hers with her silver Sharpie autograph on the bill. That'd be fun. Love your content, thanks for sharing.
Well Now ! ! ! I just came from Etsy after buying your Last Lime Green Wallace Farm & Sawmill Cap ! Now ya'll know....., that I don't just talk the talk. Here's hoping that you actually have the cap in your possession and that Brittany would please autograph it (third request's, the charm). And yes Tyler..... would you please autograph it too! You thought I'd forget you, didn't you? LOL! Here's hoping your weather is as pretty there as it is here in N.E. Oklahoma (71°F today). Spring is just 'round the corner! Ya'll write pretty now....... Thanks!
Wood mizer pays people to use them I’m just talking from my opinion of sawmills after over 40 years of running sawmills and they have a good saw in the barn I would not fool with wood mizer if I had that big saw so they are just trying to sale sawmills for the wood mizer I had a lt70and lt 40 and they didn’t do the job they had all kind of problems I made the one I have now and it works just fine for me
You had better get good at welding and learn how a sawmill is works be fore you buy any of these mills they are all the same from harbor f wood Len be fore you buy one go a work a day or two with some one who has a mill I’m sure that’s their is one some where close to you but if you are watching u t to. check them out remember that they are working to sale you on the mill they are getting paid to show on u t I’m tired of u t s getting to be one big commercial for one of them big box mill co I worked for a big sawmill co that at one time had more big mills in the south east they were known as LP I would work any where from Tx, to Ga, for a long time and I got into sawing cypress sinker’s from my land I ran a few wood mizer mills and I worked on them more than I sawed you can buy everything you need to build a band mill and build one for a three time less money and know what you have God Bless y’all and have a great weekend I’m going to be sawing some sinker yellow pine not the hi brid lobby lobby

A tractor or something to handle logs with would be very important
Early but, got my cup of coffee and checking in on the folks down south. Good job on all of the content. God Bless.

I understand that. Im really liking the cooks edger that I have had now for several years!
Very good info to know Tyler. It's always good to let your machines pay for themselves and I think you and Brittany do a great job doing it. Steve
that roller table is a god send for miss Brit
We are loving having it!

Good info. Especially the marketing part. Thankyou
Our pleasure!

Great video and great to see you today !
Thanks! You too!
Great video and well thought out information .
Thank you!
Love your videos
Our first mill was an LT15. That was back before either you or Miss Brittany was thought of.
Nice video, I like it👍🙏🥰🥰🥰
I like seeing you guys wearing hearing protection. I have many things that are of interest to me and a lot have a lot of noise, I see operators not wearing hearing protection and wonder how long before they have to have hearing aids.
65 degrees. Come too Wisconsin
Hi Tyler buddy when are you going to repair the roof on your sawmill roof?it needs a new one mate cheers buddy
Nice video and good advice 👍
Thank you Brit for letting us see your pretty eyes.
thing 4, you need a way to move logs and load them on the mill... That can be cheap or more expensive than the mill.
Nice fork work unloading the logs off of the truck 👍
Thanks 👍
Another expense is some kind of tractor capable to moving logs and finished product.
Could you do an impressions video on the lt40 vs the cooks sawmill you used to have?
great
THANKS!
Always love seeing yawl

There is one more point to discuss. Sawdust is like crack, once you get a mill you fall in love with the process.
What do you do with the saw dust and chips are you able to sell it
Any updates on the circle blade saw mill, you bought last yr.
I like your video's.
Have you thought about getting a sponsor.
Is your mill self propelled or do you need to push it through the logs?
i had asked you to put a shoot for the sawdust and you put a hose on their, instead of having go on the ground why not put a burlap bag on the hose and catch the sawdust and then you could have bags of sawdust ,instead of being on the ground, what do you think!!!!!

Why don't the mill have a two sided blade so you can cut in both directions?
Son, you better be thankful you have a woman who will work as hard as Brittney does, not many women would. Keep Smilin
The most obvious place to get logs, in my mind, is to become friends with a cherry picker operator. He can bring you logs.
Simple set or accuset
Simple set on our mill.
A true artist can take absolute garbage and make a masterpiece with it. It does not matter what the substance is, the true beauty is contained within.
If you can afford it , go with hydraulics , you won’t regret it.
The one you left out was do not buy a wood mizers they don't last and they are not made very well
Hi? What brand of mill would you recommend?
I think Tyler and Britney would disagree with you there, they seem perfectly happy with their Wood Mizer.
Wood mizer pays people to use them I’m just talking from my opinion of sawmills after over 40 years of running sawmills and they have a good saw in the barn I would not fool with wood mizer if I had that big saw so they are just trying to sale sawmills for the wood mizer I had a lt70and lt 40 and they didn’t do the job they had all kind of problems I made the one I have now and it works just fine for me
@@geneporter4849 was it the cantilever head that a issue? Just wondering because I’m looking at the lt 28 manual

Damn! Brittany is acting a little bit like biden! Did y'all kill the rabbit?
#4 how are you going to handle the logs 🪵 😊
