I don't know what takes more guts, racing bikes or pushing $450 pants lol! You guys always do a great job and that is a nice place to ride.
Brandon, you can actually wear ur fav pair of levis and still be protected. Pando Moto sells the UH1 skins, a pair of 40% blend dyneema leggings that come with knee armour and optional hip armour. They can be worn under any jeans, they are super thin and are actually CE category A rated. An alternative to these would be the bowtex leggings; these are a little thicker, and made of kevlar. The good thing about these, is that you can wear the jeans that fit you best from any clothing brand.
I'll stick with my BOHN body armor pants. 150 dollars and you wear them under your regular jeans. They come in winter, and summer weight. Excellent armor for the knees, thighs, and hips. I've had mine for a couple of years with no problems at all.

For single-layer, these seem nice ... the issue I have with all these ‘plastic’ jeans is that they are TOO thin ... and the far lower melting point of these ‘plastic’ jeans than Kevlar ... Also, abrasion resistance is just one aspect; if I were going to spend anything like $450, I’d go for Draggin Holeshots (and have done so) with *total Kevlar coverage* (doubles as *some* padding; keeps me warmer riding in winter; not hot in summer (and any impact protection= warmer); fit well/not baggy, ime; comes with basic knee and hip armour); though at the end of the day, any Jean is a big compromise on safety ...
1. I find that knee armor only covers the inside of my knees as my legs are splayed out on either side of the gas tank. You?
2. Any worry about the material melting when exposed to a flame?
Too expensive. Personally I like a looser fit so the family jewels also enjoy the ride.
Physics - they aren’t cool to the touch unless they’re generating cold. Otherwise the best you can get is something highly conductive which thermodynamically leaches warmth from the skin.
This is why two blocks one of wood and one metal both at room temperature will “feel” different with the metal feeling cooler. Surface temp may be exactly the same.
This might be besides the point, but wouldn't that be Chemistry you are talking about and not Physics? Endothermic Reactions and what not ...

I am always wondering how skinny ur legs must be to fit those kind of jeans and feel comfortable. Do you skip leg days and stopped walking in everyday life? Most of them won't even fit over my calves...
