I'm actually thinking of getting one. I saw a blue 4door one today like they showed in the video and I fell in love with the little thing haha. I'm a v8 guy but damn I can admit their really cool
my dad just traded in the 2 gen mini s with over 96000 miles (no issues what so ever) and just got his new mini s today with the volcanic orange with black 17 wheels!( with manual of course) It's fast and lots of fun to drive! I'm starting to think that this new mini is more fun than my bmw e46:( i want one
Have test driven the 1st , 2nd and 3rd Generation. I have to say that the 2nd Gen is the nicest. It has the handling, and raw feel, and it's not too big for the name mini. The size Increase of this current Gen does not really give you the cargo or passenger space intended.
I simply adore these cars, the only car I ever owned that I named, and when Family or Friends talked about the car she was always referred to by name, Alice,....
ezcool55 My '07 Mini Cooper (6sp, Non S) has over 70,000 miles now, it's still very solid, and honestly, not a single problem yet!! I'll admit, I was a bit worried based on the less than stellar reliability ratings. But it would seem that most of the issues are encountered with the automatics and especially the turbo charged Cooper S's..
Boss Buse I think it's a classic case of why it's not right to generalize sometimes.. There were apparently a few issues with R56 cooper S's. So automatically people think ALL Mini coopers are bad..
The secret compartments are gone for 2016 and forward. Only 2014 and 2015 Minis have the secret compartments. But, check out the cooler in the glovebox. There is a dial at the end of the glovebox for the A/C vent to open and close. It works and it keeps my drinks cold in the Summer. The trunk is a lot bigger in the five door Mini as well, but the three door Mini has a bigger trunk already compared to previous generations. Also, the storage package makes it even better to have various configuration of the trunk area for different storage purposes. It is a great fun car. I have test-driven both the base model and S model, both are very peppy and great on cornering fun.
Looking to buy a Mini, but all the models I see has the crappy small orange display screen instead of the one in this video. You have to pay like 1700 extra for the wire package to get that display screen, yet when you look on the dealers sites, they have all models just having the base orange display.
In the UK you get the small orange one as standard but for £300 you can upgrade to Visual Boost Radio, which is just a standard version of BMW's iDrive without sat Nav and has a 6.5" display. You can also have the same screen size with Sat Nav for around £500-£600 or the 8.8" widescreen with BMW's Pro Sat Nav in the Media Package for around £1500. We have the standard 6.5" Visual Boost Radio and it makes it so much better to use over the small orange screen.
This must be one of the best car reviews I've ever seen on the web. Great presentation and edit. In terms of the Mini it still suffers from an interior complex in my view.
I, too, enjoy small cars. There are lots of them in Europe, but for some reason Americans seem to like 'em big. Maybe it's to cover other inadequacies.
.Uh, while not quite as cool, you can get a very nicely equipped 15 Golf (MT car of the year) for under $30k. Opinions? I'd love to see a serious comparison!
I want this to be my first car.. I want the VW Beetle but Volkswagen is discontinuing the Beetle in July 2019... and i start driving in 1 month.. soooo I don’t know if I should get a Mini, or a Beetle.. both r so freaking cute but I can’t have both😕
Nothing sets off the looks of these little devils like British Racing Green.....with black top and mirrors....and white stripes on the hood. I've been keeping the roads hot in one just like it for 3 months now. Never thought I'd see myself buying an English made car, but I just had to have the Mini S. So much fun to drive, and saves you a bundle at the pump.
I am a hardcore Mopar guy I have a 87 ram charger a 2007 ram 1500 a 2001 dodge Dakota and a 2013 avenger r/t my nick name is Mopar and I have a dog named hemi... But there is one and only one other car brand I really like and that's MINI.... There weird but in a good way.. I am going to buy a 2003 mini coopers with a 178k miles on it tomorrow.. Its in need of a new clutch and fuel filter But for the 1200.00 I am paying for it that's easily done.. And I will proudly display it in my garage full of Mopars
Buy an 80s-90s Mercedes-Benz for under $10,000.... The engine never stops running. It's fast, large, durable, stable, sits 5 people, easily repairable (you'll never hear a garage saying they don't have Mercedes parts) can be upgraded with that new Android car infotainment thingy....
I personally think the mini is getting too big. I parked next to a 2015 Mini the other day in my 04 Mini S. Side by side the new mini was much longer and taller. I'm sure they are just are fun and great to drive but i'm not liking how big they're getting
+HollowTrees Parked my 2015 Cooper-S next to a new Tahoe at K-Roger yesterday...realized the extra 4 inches has NOT transformed my MINI into a leviathan.
@Saroj M Make sure you opt for the extended 100,000 thousand warrenty ! Get it ! Just to be safe ! Trust me it’s so worth the money later down the road ! Better to be safe than sorry ! Congratulations your gonna love your Mini ❤️
That is data from less than 2 years of ownership. Let's see what happens in a few years.... Average reliability from premium priced car is unacceptable as far as I'm concerned. Why on earth would I pay _more_ for a Mini than a far more flexible car such as a Civic? Because it's cute? Just so you know - my very first car was a Mini. Been waiting - impatiently - for a chance to own one again but I just can't bring myself to do it.
The 2012 Civic was removed for *one year* and is on every list of reliable cars that you can find. That said, the new one is absolutely *HIDEOUS*. O_o Ok so I'm English and believe me, driving an _Austin Powers_ Union Jack roofed Mini around would be fabulous. Also, you're right, shockingly, the Mini is just below the Civic in reliability. They've really come along way. I tell you what, I'm going to test drive a new one some time around Christmas and see what's what. Thanks for the challenging confab.
+AshtonPhoto We own a civic and a mini. My husband would happily drive his civic into the ocean. He hates it with every fiber of his being. It handles like shit and there are a lot of tiny things that add up to making the car irritating to use and drive.
A merc for 30k sounds way better than a tiny kids car doesn't it. I dont know about the lag on that car because I have not driven it yet but I would still pick up the cla 250 or max out the fiesta st 2015 hatch for 25k and get a 600cc Supersport bike as well :D
Diwash1 I get where you're coming from mate but the cla is not really on par with the rest og merc's offering. The interior is made from plastic (faux carbon fiber) and it's an awful driving experience compared to the STs and the GTI :D
I really wanted to like it....but even with all the "improvements" and technology I can't. It's bloated body lines and overall look just doesn't do it for me. I think its lost a lot of what MINI's where loved for...Think I'll keep my 05 JCW
vic vega idk a lot about cars... but i jus started my driving lessons and this is the car i get to drive, and i must say its amazing... its great and fun for People that can handle it but also for People like me that are Just learning the start and stop sistem sure helps a lot ;)
Sadly, I guess I'm the only one that cared about the Rear Sun roof not being able to vent... MAN I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE KOOLEST THING.... But only the front sun roof vents now (Sad Face).
I notice they didn't address reliability, nor did they mention the exorbitant price tag for repairs ($2,600-$2,900 for a clutch replacement? Ouch!) Though I will say as a driver who is 6'4" tall, the Mini offers best in class for leg room. This is the ONLY car I can stretch my legs out in. It does have personality, but with the sketchy reliability and high cost for repairs, no matter how cute, how much leg room it has, or it's so called "go kart type handling" my better judgement says stay away from this one.
***** OK Pal go ahead and sink 30 grand into a piece of shit car. While your car is in the shop and you are sadly forking out bucko bucks to fix the thing I'll be driving by smiling and waving. ;P
Sinjin Van Cleef No... Semi has two meanings: An automatic car that allows you to change the gears yourself... (E.G. every automatic car) Or a manual car that does the clutch and gear alignment on it's own. (E.G. I believe touring cars have this system.) It can be in the form of either paddle shifters behind the wheel, or a GT stick, which you press backwards to go up a gear or forwards to go down.
There are better cars out there for less money. But some ppl are in love with the mini design and they're willing to pay to get what they want. If I was looking for a new car, I'd buy a mini in a heartbeat. I love the way it looks, and the money would not matter to me. It would make much more sense for me to get a Miata, but I don't happen to like the way it looks.
There is something about this car, I just dig. I love it to be honest.
u read my heart
+efrain valladares mines too
I’m really in love with this car. I hope I get to buy a Mini Cooper one day. 🥰
I'm actually thinking of getting one. I saw a blue 4door one today like they showed in the video and I fell in love with the little thing haha. I'm a v8 guy but damn I can admit their really cool
They are just so cute! I really want one.
Can't wait for my 2016 Cooper S. Will get it in 2 months!
Lucky you!
Xaluku Congratulations! May your new car give you a million smiles, and a million miles!
How has it been?
5yrs in...do you still have? If so, what now pros & con may you share..?
my dad just traded in the 2 gen mini s with over 96000 miles (no issues what so ever) and just got his new mini s today with the volcanic orange with black 17 wheels!( with manual of course) It's fast and lots of fun to drive! I'm starting to think that this new mini is more fun than my bmw e46:( i want one
i used this car for my drivers test and i ended up doing perfect on parking because its so small lol
For 38.000 i would buy a Mini !!! Because is a life time car and it has that "something" that makes it special and valuable
And the base model starts around $23k. Plenty of room for options or not
I am totally going to buy that car when I get older and drive in Paris. 🇫🇷🇫🇷
Nice to hear all the positive comments,I build the MINI at the Heart of MINI plant Oxford.
Have test driven the 1st , 2nd and 3rd Generation. I have to say that the 2nd Gen is the nicest. It has the handling, and raw feel, and it's not too big for the name mini. The size Increase of this current Gen does not really give you the cargo or passenger space intended.
I drive an Audi A3 and I absolutely love this Mini! Possibly my next car!!
For the last month my driving lesson car was the Renault Clio, now they've switched to the Mini, and I'm hooked. That engine is just amazing.
This review is much more respectful to the audience than your review on the Mustang. Worlds better, please do not insult your audience.
i want a mini cooper
Me too
I simply adore these cars, the only car I ever owned that I named, and when Family or Friends talked about the car she was always referred to by name, Alice,....
Idk wut I see in this car but all of a sudden I started to like it and really want one idk why something just looks like ughhhh got to have it
The cargo space when u need it really is amazing. I have an 03 Cooper s and I fit a 55” flat screen still in the box in the back 👍
I'm so in love with this car
+buildmorefarms100 is it worth it?
Im going for my third in 10 yrs. best car I've ever driven.
This is one of my dream cars i have many
It’s my dream car too!
I like Minis... They're well-made and quirky !
You won't feel that way once you've used it past 50,000 miles..
ezcool55 My '07 Mini Cooper (6sp, Non S) has over 70,000 miles now, it's still very solid, and honestly, not a single problem yet!! '07 Mini Cooper at 93k miles. Used for commuting around the city. Runs great not a single problem and getting nearly 27 mpg. Awesome car
Boss Buse I think it's a classic case of why it's not right to generalize sometimes.. There were apparently a few issues with R56 cooper S's. So automatically people think ALL Mini coopers are bad..
I LOVE my Mini Cooper S that I just got ! ! !
2012 with 27k miles for 17k, more fun than ONE PERSON should EVER be allowed ! ! !

Nice Review... Manuel is the way to go...!
I just LOVE mini!!!
I'm11 and i really want a mini cooper. Can't wait till i'm 16

reliability.... hope it's better
Everyone on r/mini seems to say the 3rd gen Minis are way more reliable than the 2nd gen. BMW engines rather than Peugeot.
I'm currently learning to drive in one of these, I'm going to be so sad to see it go and i'll have to buy myself a bag of shit first car :'(.
James Wood it’s not gone yet 😀
"S" i call it super.. "S" for smal size.. always make my days, the more you drives the more you fall in love with her'S' hahahaa awesome weyy!
Future me will consider a mini cooper, But my VW Golf is serving me well!
mine's getting turned in through the diesel buy back, I'm leaning towards the cooper now
TSI here, got mine after the whole scandal, I say I'm a car guy, but people think I'm weird for liking small cars :P
I, too, enjoy small cars. There are lots of them in Europe, but for some reason Americans seem to like 'em big. Maybe it's to cover other inadequacies.
I love my mini cooper! Its a four door w/hatchback but does it have front wheel drive?
The best car I have. ever had,I smile every time I drive it
Hi I am Shawn , thank you for show us this video . Question: can the Mini Cooper s do the parallel parking itself ?
is the 4 door bigger than the 2 door, and is there any difference for the driver when it comes to driving, comfort, and mileage?
wow they wanna be my dream car now !!
Great review
I want this car so bad 😩😿
New Mini Cooper is quick! Close to previous cooper s in 0-60
$39,000 ain't cheap that's why it's reliability moves it out of the sought after list.
What’s the difference between the Mini Cooper JCW and the Mini Cooper S with JCW on steering wheel?
My dream car!!!

the window switches always get em
Wow they sure crammed a lot of tech in this little car but $38,000 ? i don't know
I’m originally from St. Louis, Missouri! 4:48
Sorry about this odd question - what brand of sunglasses are you wearing?
I am a hardcore Mopar guy I have a 87 ram charger a 2007 ram 1500 a 2001 dodge Dakota and a 2013 avenger r/t my nick name is Mopar and I have a dog named hemi...

Would this be a good choice for someone buying their first car? Or would a STI be a better idea?
NickPookie93 I own a 2015 cooper S, believe me, it's perfect for a first car and more....
sti for a better performance
small cars are great for first cars. They are easy to park and minis handle extremely well.
You also can see around you very well.

Happy that i owned this limited volcanic orange piece.. proud owner here

+scottieray don't take it personally, it is just my opinion

Has the reliability improved on the 2015 models. I see it isn't rated very good on reliability by a lot of ratings.
How would they know? The 2015 has only been out a few months.
my dream car. it will buy it once i bcome CPA.
did you ?
Love my Mini ❤️
@Saroj M Make sure you opt for the extended 100,000 thousand warrenty ! Get it ! Just to be safe ! Trust me it’s so worth the money later down the road ! Better to be safe than sorry ! Congratulations your gonna love your Mini ❤️
will get it on next month 🙋🙋
what are the common problems for the 2016 mini cooper s ?
Disappointing that reliability was not addressed; only a tease at the start.
Look the look of the 2015 models but do dislike the 4WD version.
Dear BMW:
If you put in a Honda engine I'll buy one.
Nobody I know with a Mini has found it to be reliable.
I know many more than two Mini owners and all have had problems.
Maybe _you_ need to meet more people. :D
That is data from less than 2 years of ownership. Let's see what happens in a few years....
Average reliability from premium priced car is unacceptable as far as I'm concerned.

Idk what I should get, either a Mini cooper or a Comaro.what should I get guys?lol I'm only 11 and already planning my car lol
Great review! this is my next car. my camry has been good to me... but has to go :)
So how do you like it?
Ethan Walker how do you like your car so far?
For 38 thousand dollars I would much rather get a 235i or a load wrx sti... It's way overpriced if you ask me :/
I would just get a cla 250
Have u driven the cla because I have... It's a nightmare of turbo lag and harsh suspension :p
A merc for 30k sounds way better than a tiny kids car doesn't it. I dont know about the lag on that car because I have not driven it yet but I would still pick up the cla 250 or max out the fiesta st 2015 hatch for 25k and get a 600cc Supersport bike as well :D

M235i starts between $43 and 44 thousand.
I really wanted to like it....but even with all the "improvements" and technology I can't. It's bloated body lines and overall look just doesn't do it for me. I think its lost a lot of what MINI's where loved for...Think I'll keep my 05 JCW
My brothers normally aspirated cooper seemed dull.
My sisters cooper s was uninspiring.
My Abarth wants to partay!
I love it ❤❤❤❤
I want itttttt
My advice, buy the "S" No comparison
vic vega idk a lot about cars... but i jus started my driving lessons and this is the car i get to drive, and i must say its amazing... its great and fun for People that can handle it but also for People like me that are Just learning
the start and stop sistem sure helps a lot ;)
Kappa Kappa Happy Motoring!
Therye just so damn cute i want them all
how did you get the middle arm rest ? mine doesn’t have one lmao i want it
How much is this now? In America
I really dislike that they are becoming larger. They are losing their charm as a bigger car.
These cars are sick
I love all MINIS but the new 14-16 models are just to different because the speed is next to the tach and its too big and too refined
Everyone wants a Lambo, I want a mini cooper.
Lamborghini insurance no thanks I prefer this
Sadly, I guess I'm the only one that cared about the Rear Sun roof not being able to vent... MAN I THOUGHT THAT WAS THE KOOLEST THING.... But only the front sun roof vents now (Sad Face).
was never-ever a fan of these cars but that s model is sexy. i have a dog tho so dunno if its for me
Sold I want one lmfao I have two years left on my lease trying to figure out what car I want 😂
my daughter has her heart set on a mini cooper!
Check out the reliability and the oil consumption. This should not be your only car.
All this technology and driver assistance and fru-fru accoutrements rob the car of its original British nuts-and-bolts charm.
I love my mini
The video is 2014 and the car 2016... Are you kidding me?
all are mini coopers mechanic box?
Isn't it a 2 litre V4
Does anyone know how much they cost?
I heard these cars breakdown a lot . Is that still the case?
These newer generations are pretty reliable mechanical wise we get a few interior noise complaints
allenmadigan are the beetles reliable cars?
I work on for mini cooper I don't know a whole lot about Volkswagen
3:18 the wheels look like they're not moving.
how much is the mini cooper
I notice they didn't address reliability, nor did they mention the exorbitant price tag for repairs ($2,600-$2,900 for a clutch replacement? Ouch!) My feelings exactly.
07 Mini Cooper with no problems. At 93k miles. I'll say it's reliable
It's repair problems are as legendary as it's cuteness? lol
***** There are other components other than the engine ,sir.
***** OK Pal go ahead and sink 30 grand into a piece of shit car. While your car is in the shop and you are sadly forking out bucko bucks to fix the thing I'll be driving by smiling and waving. ;P
long term test
Well for a Mini it is not very Mini?
Damn. I wanntttt
How can a car be both Manuel and automatic?
+Sinjin Van Cleef
It's called... Options...!
Or, if you already knew that and take me for an idiot...
It's called... Semi-automatic...!
+Aryzen Inniriea I heard that semi automatics aren't exactly the best as you don't get the full experience of a Manuel or an automatic
Sinjin Van Cleef
No... Semi has two meanings:
An automatic car that allows you to change the gears yourself... (E.G. every automatic car)
Or a manual car that does the clutch and gear alignment on it's own. (E.G. I believe touring cars have this system.) It can be in the form of either paddle shifters behind the wheel, or a GT stick, which you press backwards to go up a gear or forwards to go down.
