Love your channel mate and watch every one, i wonder if you can help with a problem I've got concerning a number plate transfer, dvl want a code, how do i find it? many thanks
After 2015 they’ve improved reliability massively! I’ve owned 2016 Countryman for 4 years only had one small issue. No engine issues or transmission issues. Just make sure it is properly maintained if you can afford it! The benefit of Minis are having small tanks, so you never have to spend so much to fillup.
I'm a driving instructor, on my 2nd F56 Mini cooper, They are Bulletproof little cars but do have foibles, I have bimmer link and a Vgate for registering batteries and clearing codes ( rarely happens). My personal car is an Alfa Brera S and whilst it has more theatre and feel than the Mini , on B roads the Mini is an absolute hoot. I'll be buying another when the time comes. Pupils love driving the little thing as do I !
Got a 2016 Cooper S, just love how it always puts a smile on my face, I’ve had days of feeling terrible, rough day at work, and having the dual centre exhaust tips making popcorn noises make me laugh, the pulling me to the back of my chair under acceleration, bearing in mind I’m 23 and before the mini, my most powerful car was a 1.6 tdi seat arona, I can forgive the spine bash going over speed bumps
That’s quite a nice and presentable Mini now, it should sell quickly. Seasons greetings and happy New Year to you and your family Matt, I’m looking forward to more great content next year❤.
I just sold my 2012 Mini Cooper S for just less than $2000 CDN$ what i actually paid for it 4.5 years earlier. It Never let me down once mechanically. It sat outside in -40 weather in Canada and always started first time. I serviced it every 6000 km and replaced the tires and brakes and that was it. Only sold it because i need to tow a motorcycle and as i get older my knees would hurt getting in and out of it. Gas mileage was incredible though. Have a great Holiday Matt !! thanks for all the great videos, and hope the new year brings the dealership continued success for 2024!!!!
I have a 2012 mini Cooper S convertible. This is the N18 engine which was brought out to fix the rather large number of faults of the N14 (2006-2011). I made sure I got an N18. I quickly found a mini specialist to get the car back into good shape. Still rather complex with lots to fail but most of it is quite affordable. The major service was my biggest bill due to some long life spark plugs . Coil packs and vanos solenoids are regarded as service items in the same way the oil and spark plugs are! Needed 2 coil packs and a new thermostat. The intake vanos solenoid still needs doing as it throws a reduced power engine light every 2 weeks or so which goes out if you switch off an on again and won't come back on for a while. A much better timing chain tensioner should be installed but they've suggested that's changed anyway as a precaution. Some of these parts are surprisingly easy to fix, my specialist recommended I did it myself to save time and money but I won't because I am not good with mechanical stuff. Much better at using electrical diagnostic tools which probably fooled them into thinking I was an expert. I'll take it in sometime soon. Then the suspension components needed doing. On the upside because it's not from the North east the specialist said I had the best subframe he's seen! And also the best driving example

The B48 engine in the 3rd series F56 Mini, is great. I have a 2.0 Cooper S, with 178K on the clock, and the only thing, apart from regular servicing, that ive put in it is half a litre of engine oil. Best car ive ever owned!
Astonishingly good cars. I think they're the hidden gem of the used car market. Hi Matt. The key fob batteries fail quite bit on this mark of Mini. I had several batteries go. I think the fob is sensitive to a voltage drop. I started using Renata batteries and ever since I have had no issue. I hope this helps
Hi matt, i was going to say about the tyres they were very low, good luck with the wee car, from marty in Belfast northern Ireland God bless and merry Christmas.
3rd gen so far does well in reliability surveys. Big improvement on 2nd generation. Big price premium over 2nd generation reflects that especially as a convertible. So we could only afford 2nd gen. They did improve the famously unreliable prince N14 engine in 2011 with the N18 but having owned a 2012 for 6 months you have to accept that solenoids and coil packs are service items in the same way oil is. Mine so far does not burn oil. Still nearly at max on dipstick These items from a specialist are not costly, the spark plugs being the most expensive part. And yes they're heavy to drive and compromised but they also can get under your skin as they're involving and eager. The polar opposite of our other car a golf mark 7 which is easy, comfortable refined but somewhat numb to drive.
I was thinking I should pick you up, for doing the CarVertical ad while sitting with the engine idling and causing global warming. So, that ad is SO much better, thank you, Matt and a very merry Christmas to you and yours.
We bought a 2002 Mini Cooper in London a few days after 7/7 in 2005. Owner decided to relocate to Devon due to the bombings. Being from NI (flew over and drove it home) the threats never bother us. It was a really well specced car and we paid £8k for it. Fantastic car. Drove it for 3 years and added 25000 miles onto it….and sold it for £8150. Loved that wee car.
@@sandersson2813 He did. He had a young family and his business was online so they decided in a few days they would move to Devon. If I remember correctly they already had a holiday home there but this was to be a permanent move.
Love the style of your videos, the way you "chat" to us as if we are in there with you. Question about your website, why don't you use the imagery you use in these videos. You always show off the car with beautiful rolling hills behind the car. And on your website, for your photos of the sellable vehicles, it's a brick wall, some metal railings, and a double yellow line! Anyway, keep up the good content. J
The Vredestein tyres (you have one on the rear passenger side ) are made in Holland and as quite good. They have scored well in tests. Suitable for most run-of-the-mill cars, but probably not for high performance cars. Good value for money but not a brand that everybody knows . . . .
You have a great memory Matt, you can always remember the list of things that needed to be done, even things they haven't billed you for! Have a great Christmas :)
I keep coming back to the idea of a Mini. It's the car that got away. I 'almost' bought one in 2006. I went to the Mini dealership to see one being advertised and was ignored for ages by the salespeople who were all chatting up couples, and ignored me standing there alone waiting to be served and ready to buy. So, I went to Mangoletsi and came home with a bright red Alfa 147! That was the second time - the first time was 15 years earlier, in the 6th form. Everyone had a Mini (a proper Mini) and I somehow ended up with a MK2 Escort.
I’m with you when you said a 10 year old car is an X or Y reg 😂. Great video as always and that’s a great looking mini, even with bold tyres 😁. I think a couple of good tyres on that would be at the very least £300 😬
Another excellent review, Matt. Black car, blacked out windows, black wheels, black interior, black floormats - with a tiny union flag. Reflects the mood of the nation, I suppose. Nice to see you out in the A8 - lovely car.
Hi Matt, Merry Christmas to you and yours. You were probably "negged out" because it was cold and getting near the end of the year. We tend to put the cart before the horse at these times. An old mate of mine used to say that "The profit is in the buying." so if you buy them right there should be enough left for that nasty word "profit" in the end. Enjoy your break if you take one and come back refreshed in the New Year.
Of this gen we’ve had a cooper (like this) clubman, countryman now a cooper s convertible. So much better than the first gen ones. Never had any issues.
I have 2013 Mini OneD; I bought it when it was a year old, and it passed its MOT first time every time every year. Mainly because I’ve treated it with respect and never ragged it. I’ve only done 58k miles, and road tax doesn’t apply due to its emissions. I just gave it to my daughter as I don’t have the heart in selling a decent, reliable and cheap to run car. The Mk II Minis are only reliable as how one treats it.
Nicely done, Matt. As far as that EV Golf which we don't get here in America, I would have simply had one of my employees order the missing bits from that the seller which should have been included when he sold the hatchback to you. Then, simply had the employee say they never arrived. Have the employee do a credit-card charge-back on his card, get back all the money. Simply keep the bits that were shipped over from eBay. Give said employee a nice bonus at the end of the month. In fairness, doubt you'd ever do anything like that, Matt. And, I do deal openly, honestly, and fairly when it comes to business transactions. But when it's clear I'm dealing with someone blatantly cheating me, I have no qualms when it comes to *correcting* the situation.
I wish we had dealers like you here in the states. Taking the time to fix even small things easily overlooked like water leaks, interior hiccups, broken switches, and cosmetic blemishes whereas the chumps here will tell you a car with non-functioning brakes.... " It just drives like that; they all do. But here's a $4000 warranty that you could buy."
Happy Christmas Matt!! Hope you have someone special to spend Christmas with!! As honest as you are, you certainly deserve deserve it! Big hugs from Kenny Ohio USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love your videos and if/when I need to buy myself my next car I will certainly check your stock out on your website! Got a 21 year old mini. Picked it up a few months ago for £1100. It’s aim is to be a fun car to drive on my days off, within my budget. Some people want a Lamborghini or a Ferrari, but give me a mini any day. It’s fun, cheap, and nowt to worry about 😀

How did the Mini pass the MOT with the original tyres that were an advisory on the previous MOT? Regarding the VW EV Golf, how RUDE of the owner to hold them back to then sell them with an attitude, as you say "that is what some of the publican like". Keep going Matt, you are your work and attention to detail is refreshing.

Another brilliant video! Really appreciate these videos, as I'm looking to buy a car next year. Could you do a video on a honda civic (2017/18 plus reg)? I like my Japanese cars lol
Hopefully this returns a decent profit margin so Matt can continue his crusade to save genuinely lovely cars like that Z3. Certainly a lot of car for the money as well.
You have made this car perfect!! Well done! For the steering wheel, I heard that if you get a wet cloth and scrub the heck out of the steering wheel for about 5 minutes, it should make it look newer and have a more ‘matte’ finish. I know it works on BMW’s so it may work on a mini, who knows?? Great video as always!!
Just clean it with detergent or degreaser. The shine is grease and dirt from hands. If the leather hasn't actually worn, this generation steering wheel leather can look brand new again.

Thanks for your 3 Videos a week this year. Always look forward to watching them after work. Merry Christmas Matt!
Thanks. Merry Christmas
Hi Matt. The key fob batteries fail quite bit on this mark of Mini. I had several batteries go. I think the fob is sensitive to a voltage drop. I started using Renata batteries and ever since I have had no issue. I hope this helps
At least the battery is easy to fix. Try doing that on the 2nd generation. It's soldered onto the motherboard. Absolutely ridiculous piece of design
My Golf key fob could eat batteries. Renata batteries seemed to last the longest......
@@paultasker7788 yes I know my wife had one. The engines on those were awful and drank oil
if only all car traders were as honest and genuine....merry xmas..
Well done Matthew, im very proud of you...
Still a nice bit of profit mate thats the main thing!! Happy Christmas mate, look after yourself!!
Same to you
I was thinking I should pick you up, for doing the CarVertical ad while sitting with the engine idling and causing global warming.
That was a great buy
He relocated because of bombings? 😂😂
@@sandersson2813 He did. He had a young family and his business was online so they decided in a few days they would move to Devon. If I remember correctly they already had a holiday home there but this was to be a permanent move.
@@sandersson2813 I know a few people who relocated after 7/7… why is that weird? I’d have done the same I think
@@sandersson2813 Given the amount of terror attacks after 7/7 and rising crime in London, i don't see how thats something to laugh at
The ups and downs of running a business. You do it in style Matt
If I had the time I would take them all somewhere scenic for photos but it’s always a rush
The Vredestein tyres (you have one on the rear passenger side ) are made in Holland and as quite good. They have scored well in tests. Suitable for most run-of-the-mill cars, but probably not for high performance cars. Good value for money but not a brand that everybody knows . . . .
Best budget all weathers.
You have a great memory Matt, you can always remember the list of things that needed to be done, even things they haven't billed you for! Have a great Christmas :)
Looks like a good buy Matt! As its a Cooper, the profit could come, JUST LIKE THAT 😊
That would be magic.
yeahhhhhh Thats 22 mins of my friday evening sorted :) , cheers mate & Merry Christmas :)
Thanks. Merry Christmas
In my mind a ten year old car is a K reg or L reg !
I was absolutely crushed the other day to finally realise a 62 plate is no longer 'a couple of years old!'
Thanks for all the movies Matt, look forward to every one, best wishes for 24.
Can't believe the guy with the ev golf was selling parcel shelf and leads on ebay. What a cheap skate.
Nice mini.
I’ve had a few cases of that. Unbelievable
What a great bargain. I was very surprised by how low the itemised bill was, well done.
It’s great to hear your comments and opinions on the Mini Cooper. It sounds like it’s a solid even at 120k miles. Merry Xmas to you!
Another excellent review, Matt. Black car, blacked out windows, black wheels, black interior, black floormats - with a tiny union flag. Reflects the mood of the nation, I suppose.
Nice to see you out in the A8 - lovely car.
Happy Christmas Matt. Thank you for another year of excellent reviews. Wishing you a very successful 2024 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Merry Christmas
I've driven this particular model and it's such a great car. Handles great, good amount of power, is really fun overall really
Merry Christmas and have a Happy New Year!
Merry Christmas Matt..🎅
Thanks for another great year of honest videos, looking forward to many more in 2024..😁
I wish we had dealers like you here in the states. Taking the time to fix even small things easily overlooked like water leaks, interior hiccups, broken switches, and cosmetic blemishes whereas the chumps here will tell you a car with non-functioning brakes.... " It just drives like that; they all do. But here's a $4000 warranty that you could buy."
F56 is a good reliable car if you go to the services and take care of it 🤗
Happy Christmas Matt!! Hope you have someone special to spend Christmas with!! As honest as you are, you certainly deserve deserve it! Big hugs from Kenny Ohio USA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great little video Matt, and hopefully a decent margin with no overspend 😃
Have a lovely Christmas Matt, atb to you and your family 👍
Fingers crossed! Merry Christmas
The old chestnut of removing spare tyre or the tyre repair goo and pump is the normal dirty trick I’ve noticed when looking at cars.
The tyre repair goo normally has an expiry date. Watch out for that, too
This is a true good man frist class vids always godbless you always and all the lovely people on here and a merry Christmas and happ new year to all
Merry Christmas
Thank you. Love these videos. Have a happy Christmas.
I love your videos and if/when I need to buy myself my next car I will certainly check your stock out on your website! I have one request in the meantime, when you total up your spend at the end of the videos, can you put a graphic on screen to make it nice and clear? Thanks and keep up the great content!
That’s a great car to sell on and at £5.5k will make a fab car to own. We have a 2015 Cooper S 2.0 auto. It’s brilliant. We would never be without a Mini in our household, especially as we live in Weardale with all those hills and beautiful scenery.
Nice save, and looks great now. Thanks for the videos this year Matt, all the best to you & yours for the Christmas season.
Superb cars we have the Countryman Cooper S with additional JCW extras. We find it comfortable and more than fast enough. Handles well too.
have a great Christmas and new year, l hope you have a great Christmas with your family as well, and all your staff,
Got a 21 year old mini. Picked it up a few months ago for £1100. It’s aim is to be a fun car to drive on my days off, within my budget. Some people want a Lamborghini or a Ferrari, but give me a mini any day. It’s fun, cheap, and nowt to worry about 😀
Feliz Navidad.
Best to you and yours.
Thanks for the channel and all your hard work.
Thank you. Merry Christmas
I do like that A8 you are running around in
Glad you got some good luck for a change with this one, nice to be wrong sometimes!
Decent video as always 🥰 Hope you have a nice rest during the festive time 🥰🎄
Great timing in time to enjoy some food and watch , love these videos . Hope you include more of taking it to mechanics and other clips like did previously on BMW z3
Matt would make a good politician….saving the planet single handedly….he’d get my vote….🎉❤…Merry Christmas..
So sad that the parcel shelf thing was your first encounter with the E-Golf... I own one and I love it! 😊
What Matt? Massively underspent😮 .Is this going to be a New Year's resolution 🎉
Merry Christmas and happy new year Matt, enjoy some time off..thanks for another year of vids🎄👍
Hi Matt great interesting video as ever have a good Christmas with all your friends .
Have a great Christmas Matt!
When you started off saying there should be some good profit here, i thought here we go, hes massively overspent, so well done on another fine job. Happy xmas Matt, heres to success in 2024.
Great video apart from the tyres mix up ! The parcel shelf/charge leads episode doesn’t surprise me at all. Some people have cheek for owt ! They’re only defrauding a business so that’s alright in their eyes. Merry Christmas Matt .
Well gotta come clean, I called this one all wrong within the first five mins, was expecting the true to form "I've massively over spent". One to tell the grandkids about the time Matt came in under budget.
Another interesting video keep them coming and a good Christmas and new year to you 🎉
Another brilliant video! Really appreciate these videos, as I'm looking to buy a car next year. Could you do a video on a honda civic (2017/18 plus reg)? I like my Japanese cars lol
Thanks for entertaining me no end in 23! Merry xmas. Ay Matty were are the "Bazz it" boys?
Hopefully this returns a decent profit margin so Matt can continue his crusade to save genuinely lovely cars like that Z3. Certainly a lot of car for the money as well.
Yet another awesome video with great information and setting the example of what to look for when analyzing a used car. As always, thanks!
Who is your upholstery guy? His work always looks so good!
Give me an old fashioned service book anytime😁 have a good Christmas Matt 👍🏻
Another great video Matt and a great result for Man City, best club in the world 🎉
Hello Matt,
Well done again, nice looking car. I had a Mini Cooper H26 FRW, great car but it was stolen. Never seen again.
I’d like a new one but you hear such terrible stories about engine issues.
Anyway, thanks for all the videos through the year.
Happy Christmas.
Ged
Nice car and looks great in that colour and you underspent 😊
Thanks Matt for the great videos. Have a Merry Christmas from downunder Australia
Thanks! Same to you
My Yeti needed a new tyre and to match the rest it needed to be a Michelin so that’s what I got thanks to you.
Merry Christmas Matt , thank you for the outstanding videos you put out , keep them coming 🎄
