It started from childhood. All adults around us demanding us to behave in ways that pleased them and did not make them feel upset. We felt responsible for their feelings and tip toed our way around ....and it followed us into adult until we eventually....hopefully... get to the point when we say 'I REALLY DON'T CARE..'

Very true. I feel sad that so many can't have insight like that. It's taking me so much time! - I'm almost 70, but I'm starting to "get it". It's been a tough life, but by the time I pass on, I will be free.

I think it's very important to truly get to know yourself first.I would not want to force myself to be a talkative person if in my essence I'm not. My goal would rather be to feel comfortable as an introvert then chasing the extrovert persona that does not comes naturally to me. Figuring out your true self is not as easy as it seems, but it's essential.

Questions To Ask Actively On Your Own
    1) What do I think of them?
    2) What do they think of me?
    3) What do I think of the situation?
    4) What do they think of the situation?
My takeaways from this video: Your brain will always search for an answer so you have to feed it the answer you want. When you think of what other people think of you, you start to act differently based on their opinions. You don't see the problems caring what other people think of you creates in your life. It slows down your progress.

2 minutes in I had the thought that you brought up in the end. I am super critical of people as well as myself. I know I have a habit of "projecting" (adjusting my behaviors based on what I think someone else thinks). It is a very bad habit, especially in relationships where you can just ask what they think instead of leaving it to your imagination to"fill in the answers" (which is usually not the true answer). But for me that extends to strangers as well...(i.e. people I can't just ask). I have hobbies and things I want to do in public that I cannot do because of fear of what complete strangers might think of me even though there is absolutely no basis to my thoughts, nor should I give a crap what strangers think.

Wow this is such a great perspective on this problem! I never thought about it as an unanswered question but it makes a lot of sense. We search for closure in a lot of areas of life: broken relationships, past traumas, ways of thinking, careers. But we don’t often get it. Or, we don’t accept the answer we are given because it doesn’t provide any relief. It makes sense that we need to answer the question for ourselves to gain that closure and move forward, instead of remaining stagnant and waiting for the answer to find us. Thank you. 🙏🏼

Great video!! That has basically been my whole life. I am also an introvert, grew up very shy. I have always been too concerned with what others think of me and have ruminated about it way too much analyzing every word and look. It makes one basically self-apologetic and self-effacing, but feeling resentful about it. It makes one feel at the bottom of the social ladder, poor self-esteem and little assertion, and rather angry about it. So it does also make one more negative, critical, and resentful of others.
I think having high expectations and being perfectionist is often part of it, thinking that about others and believing they think that way about you too. That leads to being disappointed, critical, negative, and resentful. Also the fear of failing, criticism, rejection.

This all balls down to the ego. The ego is the false since of self. People live there life’s thinking there ego is who they really are. For example if you play basketball that’s not who you are it’s your ego. Playing basketball is thing you do. Another example let’s say your approaching woman on the street it’s just what you do it not who you are. It’s just that your ego gets caught up on whether she says yes or no. You’re ego causes depression and anxiety because you don’t know your true self and you think your true self is the ego. Your true self is your character and how you treat people. Your value that you give to people. That is something the ego could never do. You just got to figure out who you are without the ego.

    • @mire1390
      @mire1390 3 роки тому +1

Thanks you so much for sharing your thoughts I very very much agree with you. My perspective on this matter is that we all have a person inside we wish we were or we would like to be and we want everyone to perceives us that way. For some people it may be the fact of being self-sufficient and happy, so they will do things to give others enough reasons to believe that they are that way. But when they receive feedback that conflicts the persona they want to be perceived as, the ego feels attacked. That’s when thoughts race in all directions trying to figure out why, how, and come up with solutions. That means they will adjust their behaviour to get better feedback in order to feel okay because the ego will be validated and reassured then. You see it’s not that we really care about the opinions of others but our own opinion about ourselves. We don’t slave to the opinions of others but to our own egos. Like really, do you think we are such selfless thoughtful human beings that we care so much about what others are thinking and their opinions on matters, if that’s true then why don’t we care when it has nothing to do with us or anything in connection to what we like or interest us, because ego is a selfish trait and we all have it at different levels depends how much we feed it so we will only care when it involves us. “Starve The Ego, Feed The Soul”-TGM

I'm not sure what this can actually change for me, cause I sometimes struggle with helplessness, and when I finally take the courage of telling my closest people I need their help, they don't believe me, they really blame me for "making this weakness up". I don't have to ask them what they think of me, cause they already tell me I am very strong, but it is simply not true. I have to be that "strong", that is alone, cause they wouldn't help me when I really need them.

on the other hand, when I think, and tell them too, this is how I feel, whatever you want to think of me, they offer and try to help, but only in situations where I don't bother if they help of not.
So I have to think of them, go f... yourself for being helpful, you weren't there when I needed you.

Wrong. Being an introvert doesn't necessarily mean you're insecure/indecisive. It just means that you get your energy from being by yourself and doing things you like by yourself. Being an extrovert is the the opposite and means that you recharge around other people. You can introverted and still be outgoing, still be confident and self assured. An extroverted can also still be shy and insecure.

Omg page three hit home hard. I started overanalyzing people because I thought that everyone hated me (I was kinda bullied), I thought everyone would try to hurt so I learned how they act, why, etc and now I feel like I know how they will react or what they think of me...but I really don't

After expressing my thoughts, they think I'm intelligent as my point is backed up with an Accounting principle. They also think I'm strong as I'm not scared to voice out my concern.

I;ve never worried abou what others think of me, maybe Military training, I've always looked at it like, it's none of my business what others think of me, I've always remembered, "Take Care of Your Own Backyard First", but for the life of me, I can't make my wife understand. Maybe if I make her watch this video it may help. Thank you for your video.

This is truly awesome! I love the part about making up your own mind game and seek yourself as who you want to be! As an INFJ I constantly over analyze everything and it causes a lot of anxiety and keeps me from reaching my goals!
