  • In this video I am sanding and shaping the Yugo M48 Mauser rifle stock to remove the damaged wood, and give it a nicer finish. This is part one of the multi video series. If anyone has any question on anything in this video, please leave a comment or find me on one of these other platforms.

    I have not seen any videos on how to remove the metal hard ware on the lower wooden stock. If you can send a video or tutorial on how its done it would be great.
    I'm trying to buy a stripped stock but don't know how to take apart old hardware and transfer it to my new stock.

      @@donchai761 my butt plate had two screws that I was able to remove with a flat head screwdriver.
      However, my rifle does not have the bolt disassembly disk.

    I just bought a Mauser, the stocks pretty scratched. What grit sandpaper did you use on yours?

    • @instantdethmouse
      @instantdethmouse  3 роки тому

      I started off with 120 grit sandpaper, and then moved on to a 180 grit, and finished it off with a 220 grit. Hope this answers your question. Feel free to ask for more information.

      @@instantdethmouse it did, thanks. Also, if I finished it with a 2200 grit sandpaper, would that negatively affect the varnish?

    • @instantdethmouse
      @instantdethmouse  3 роки тому

      @@marinoshamo6888 2200 grit I think would require wet sanding and would be super smooth. I don't see why it would negatively affect the varnish. I didn't take mine down that far because I did want to leave some of the dents and dings for the history of the rifle, but, that is all personal preference. Good luck! I would love to see how it turns out!

      Soooo.....funny story....during the transfer to my new hard drive, most of my files got wiped. The rifle was complete by the time this video went up, but, I had to get a new computer because my old one crapped out. In the transfer process, most of my files somehow got deleted.
      Sorry to disappoint.
