24%47 are another incredible Mauser! When I went looking for a post WW2 Mauser, I was particularly drawn to the m48 just because of their history (or lack there-of.) Leading most of them to be in excellent or like new condition. A 24/47 is definitely on my list though
Absolutely a great habit. Honestly, just having the good habits of putting almost anything on it after a hunt will probably save you from sufferings like this!
Good job, is there a reason you did not remove the magazine floor plate! (Use your cartridge, bullet end in the hole in front the trigger guard, press down and the floor plate will come out with the spring!
Thanks! I'll Pin this just in case anyone is looking for info on how to drop the floor plate! So if this were a new rifle to me, I would drop and disassemble the floor plate as well as the bolt. But seeing as I've owned this a few years, I was mainly only going after the rust. Next time we do a deep dive, we'll do the whole shebang!
I use a product called corrosionX to wipe down all my gun metal before storage. I came to that product after lots of research of what was the best for rust resistance. One spray bottle lasts forever when you’re just using a few drops at a time

Got myself a 24/47 a month or so ago, looking to get an m48 next. It looks pretty much the same set up.

The difference from a shooter's perspective is that they're same rifle except the 24/47 has a straight bols and traditional sling setup.

I always use 3in1oil it's been the best especially after a wet day's hunt wipe it down as soon as I get home never had a problem.
