I love Talking Heads I'm such an 80's girl 😁 it is so nice to see a band being faithful to the recorded version of the song, so many performers go all arty and self indulgent when they do their old songs they end up sounding unrecognizable.
@@Jojo-fy2ud I started listening to them in my teens which was the 80's so they remind me of the 80's but yes you are quite right, definitely 70's. Such an iconic sound.
This was the last time the Talking Heads ever performed, and will probably be the last time the group ever performs. David Byrne has notoriously refused to reunite with the band, citing bad blood. I saw an interview with Chris Frantz where he point-blank asked him to reunite, and Byrne supposedly yelled at him, "I'm never reuniting the Talking Heads." Such a shame.
@@MustangRed1967 In between Remain in Light and Speaking in Tongues, David dicked around the rest of the band on some song publishing and Tina and Chris turned around and made a huge hit record on their own that eclipsed Talking Heads' previous success. After that, David couldn't push them around anymore and he's a control freak, so the band relationship started to crumble from that point forward.
The thing is, the other three founding members don't have the same musical chops that Byrne has. They often couldn't competently play what he heard in his head. I think that's the main reason this was the last TH set. The "bad blood" is over that fact. Byrne always brought in people like Fripp or Eno to help support his musical vision. The other 3 were punk musicians, and eventually that didn't cut it. Great albums though, and Byrne's last tour was one of the best shows I've ever seen.
@@ChorusArtists um no. The band existed before David, they found him and asked him to join. I suggest you do your research. Every member of Talking Heads is a great musician in their own right. The bad blood at least party came from the fact that other band members weren't being given credit for stuff they clearly collaborated on. The narrative of Talking Heads being purely David's brain child simply isn't true. Oh, and even if the other 3 members were just "punk" musicians, why would that matter? Tina, the bassist girl, so cool. I got to learn to play this Instrument in this lifetime. I already sing, my voice is my main Instrument. I love the Talking Heads❤️🎵
As long as David Byrne is putting out his own music, and does 5 or 6 Talking Heads songs on a tour, I'm okay with it! I mean this guy has more talent in his pinky finger and 99% of the people out there
What i really liked the best about Remain in Love, is that besides all the great band stories from the road, Chris talks about how the music was made. Surprisingly, most books i have read about bands and artists don't reveal much about how they made the music. Thanks for all the great music, dance beats, and words, Talking Heads.
