Bonnie Raitt is the first lady of blues. She has done rock, jazz, r&b and put her unique touch on each. To any lunatic who detracts from this song, shame you just don't "get it." Move over and let the rest of us who do enjoy.
I have yet to hear a Bonnie Raitt song that feels forced; she chooses her material well and brings her own thing to each. She is one of the best live performers that I have ever seen; very genuine and speaks to the audience at length. You're not just watching her, you're spending time with her.
Back in the mid 70's we went to see her at an outdoor venue. Asleep at the wheel was supposed to open but their bus broke down. Bonnie said ' no worries ' I'll fill their slot and she played for close to 3 hours.
I never fail to crank up Bonnie's videos and CDs ! She's STILL tearing it up ! ( she and I are about the same age.) Love it ! Ladies can out rock the guys sometimes !
Bonnie is in a category all her own. No one else has that something special that she has about everything she does and is. She is the ultimate real deal
I heard her and the band play this on the tour they were on when this concert was recorded in 1995. I laughed and cheered when they started the intro for this. They crushed it playing this song!
one of my favorite live performances by Ms Raitt is in the tribute Blue Bayou to Linda Ronstadt, with Emmy Lou Harris and Carrie Underwood. Underwood has the loudest pipes to be sure, but Bonnie and Emmy Lou gave master classes in phrasing, putting us ON that blue bayou with them, embracing the rising sun they have missed so long. Carrie could learn from them
Late 1990s. The day that Bonnie was inducted onto the Rock Walk at GC Hollywood, she arrived by herself with no fanfare at the backdoor. I was working for GCM at the time and had taken the day off to come up for the ceremony from The OC. I remember the door guy in back was flabbergasted and being a professional diva wrangler, I immediately took her in hand without thinking twice. She's a joyous kitten to deal with! Bonnie paused to ask my wife how her make-up and hair looked, the two conspired for a moment in the hallway and decided Bonnie looked absolutely mah-ve-lous. I asked her where specifically she needed to be and we huddled for a few seconds to look through the mania on the back area and the old vintage room at GC Hollywood...now gone. Once we determined where she needed to be and who she needed to connect with, I took her by the hand and off through the crowd we went. We had to weave through a tightly packed party atmosphere and I turned her over to the guys who would be making the safety copy of her hand prints in cement. (Yes...they do it twice. The first is done and stored in case something happens to the one that the public sees.) It was quite a day and Sunset was shut down in front of GC as Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker and Buddy Guy were all inducted that day. It was packed.
Saw her in Glasgow last night as part of the James Taylor tour. Both she and James were on absolutely top form. She played this. She's brilliant and her band are fantastic. If this tour is coming anywhere near you, see it. It's brilliant. Christ! I love great rock guitar bands.
I have been listening to Bonnie since junior high school, back in Mpls 1970's. So glad that she was the musical soundtrack of my life! She made my trips around the sun so much greater...and we ain't finished yet. See ya on the 14th in St Augustine, Fla.🎸
Bonnie Raitt covered Burning Down The House at Lincoln Center Out Of Doors (Damrosch Park) tonight - 8/13/17, She and her band really rocked and crowds couldn't help but get out in the aisles to dance!
Bonnie played in Austin long ago, and our flower shop "made her room look like a funeral parlor" (her words), due to all the well-wishers. During that period I also got to see Talking Heads, with the B-52's opening. Truly music city like ACL ads say. Fabu cover Ms. Bonnie.
Bonnie Raitt does a darn good job with this song! Great cover. Bonnie always appears effortless when she plays. One word Talented. Bonnie let's her talent do the talking .
@@jakejohansen1889 Well JJ it’s not a competition. You might prefer one over the other, but that’s just you. I love ‘em both and I listen to TTB’s Tiny Desk Concert almost everyday. Bonnie is my favorite though. Doesn’t mean she’s “better”
Bonnie blue this song rocks. I love it and listen to it all the time. I'll never forget seeing you play live in Vancouver solo and then along with The Rolling Stones. Keep playing them there guitars. Love you endlessly. Cheers to magic and innocence always.
I had the same reaction. I can see why many in the audience were on their feet, groovin' to Bonnie's guitar licks. In all honesty, the first time I heard her version of this song, I started out thinking, "This isn't a Bonnie Raitt song" ... for about 10 seconds! By the end of it I liked her energetic take on it as well as the original, and in some ways more.
AMAZING ~ she just brings it HOME!!!!! breathing some fire into a GREAT song - while still staying true to it's original energy ~ ~ this is just pure genius, as far as I'm concerned. It takes a PRO to master the rules so well that you can bend them inside out and bring people to their feet while you're doin it ~ Bonnie, keep on doin' what you're doin' for MANY more years!!! ♥
This song carried me all the way from Butte to Bozeman once when I was driving at night, dog tired. I played it LOUD. "Road Tested" more than once, for many miles., so much more effective than caffeine.
There is no one like Bonnie Raitt! I adore this lady! I belonged to a women's acapella group and we sang some of Bonnie's hits. She is an absolute favorite! My opening farewell by Jackson Brown, performed by Bonnie will live in my soul forever!
ya see!! thats the shit they need to add at the end of a vid !! I feel good!! best female of everything.. talent beauty and grace!! Im 74 and still loving this gal for the last who the fuck knows!!!!
LOVE this woman! My cover band does love letter. Had no idea she would do a Talking Heads tune - her slide is so smooth and makes it her own! She is on my bucket list to go see and meet.
+Judith Magill I have not heard of him, but the person I know have since passed away, his name was AC Reed a saxaphonist, title of one of his albums was These Blues are Killing Me.
Since I discovered this video I've watched it quite a few times and I've discovered new things every time. However, because men are more recognized as lead guitarists, I'm sure that if you didn't know you'd think that a man was playing that solo. I love it.
I've loved Bonnie since 1970 and saw her live in Milwaukee the night Stevie Ray Vaughn died. She's been to his concert the night before (he was playing two dates at Alpine Valley,) she mentioned how good the show was and as she left after her encore his helicopter went down
Bonnie is a great vocalist and also a wonderful guitarist. She is an inspiration for me and other singer-songwriters who strive to be as good as she is.
Love the little smile at 1:52 and the emphatic guitar move at 3:27 to end the song. Great to see an artist who genuinely enjoys her work and gives the audience their money's worth -- and then some.
She is the Queen of Blues Guitar with Soul!! Bear in mind she came up in the sixties with some of the best Black blues players like John Lee Hooker/ BB King and Many others. Bonnie Rait is a real muscian first who stands with the absolute best in Blues/ Rock idium. No BS here, just the REAL DEAL.
Bonnie Raitt IS the undisputed queen of Rock and Blues ‼️ Love her with all of my Rock and Roll heart ❣️
How many times have watched an artist and you thought, Jeez I wished they'd taken a longer solo!
Love that she chose this one to cover. Unexpected but wonderful.
Wow! I'm speechless! As a Talking Heads-head, I can only say that Bonnie Raitt is killing!

Bonnie's catalogue contains messages relevant, visionary and so very fine in fact . . .
I have yet to hear a Bonnie Raitt song that feels forced; she chooses her material well and brings her own thing to each. She is one of the best live performers that I have ever seen; very genuine and speaks to the audience at length. You're not just watching her, you're spending time with her.
Great comment. I agree she is a true pro and knows how to choose her material well - and then does it her way. A national treasure!
Sounds like time well spent

SIMPLY IN AN EFFORTLESS CLASS OF HER OWN THE BEST SLIDE GUITARIST. .....PERIOD
The Queen of Blues Pop!
If Talking Heads didn't appreciate Bonnie's amazing voice singing their song, I'm sure they appreciated the extra royalties
Hahahahahaha, good one. Was surprised that Bonnie sang this song, super impressed. But then again, it’s BONNIE! 😊
It's on her "Road Tested" live album.... perfection!
