When I bought my Bravo Tope Recon, I was considering the Crusader. I think the Crusader would have been a better chopper, but the Tope just has a wicked shape.
Reminds me that I always wanted a Bowie knife, but realized I don't want to lug it around and generally would prefer a smaller knife and an axe. Cheers
Hi Rob! Love your videos! I'm thinking of buying a bark river knife, specifically the aurora convex with cpm 3v. But recently, I have heard of bad quality control, uneven grinds, etc. Kind of scared me away from buying one, what do you think? Is it really a hit or miss with nark River knives? Also, if u can recommend a custom knife maker that passes barkriver in preformance? Or I should just bite the bullet and get a bark river knife. Thanks Rob!
What a beast Thats one big sexy ass chunk of 3V I do really like the handle contour, just add some girth(ayooo) and grip please. Not sure how you would go about that when the handles are buffed down to shape. Maybe one day ill get the balls to crosshatch it or take some rough paper to it
I have heard that you are able to get a fire going by just using a scaffold pole, a boy scout and some dodo feathers..... Great recut mate and keep them coming....👍👍
one thing i do not like is th sheath, i cut in to the lockingmechanism all the time thats the only thing i would change about the sheath, the boker abolito has a very smart sheath
@@RobEvansWoodsman you're a bad influence😁 Don't know if the budget will stretch that far this month, might need to put the kids on short rations😆 looking at the cold steel western or the svord van tempsky
@@reddeath1176 I had mine second hand, £400 unused. First one I bought full price I sent back because the handle wasn't right, had a tick when I waved it around in my hand.
I really like my crusader, yes the polished handles can be a little slick at times but a proper lanyard takes care of that. Also you could get it in matte or sure grip micarta which has bits of rubber in the micarta. I had a fella from youtube offer me what he called alot more than its worth to sell it to him, but I declined, just couldn't bring myself to part with it lol.
Balance and handle grip/comfort, I'm not a fan of Bark river handles, too slippery and thin in certain areas, tor handle is too slippery and has no flair at the butt.
@@RobEvansWoodsman As much as i love bark river, i have to agree on the handles. I find them very comfortable to just hold, but in actual use I really dont like how low grip they are. I find liners, at a minimum, mandatory. Even then i find myself wishing for 3x the thickness of the liners. Have considered taking some low grit paper to it, but cant bring myself to do it on a $300+ knife. Basically, i like their small knives for lighter stuff, but i dont really consider their large knives because i find the grips too inappropriate for how i would use it. They do make some fine ass blades though.
I love your new edits! You're respecting the viewers time while being informative and entertaining!
I love your outfit! And always the big knife videos are fun to watch!

Beast of a knife. Quite impressed with the sharpness of that clip.
Hi. I don’t have any real use for a knife that big. But I wish I did now. Beautiful knife and tough as.

Crusader is by far the best big Bravo. Perfect size.
Thank you for the review. Got one pre ordered.

I'm the wrong guy to ask as I'm not a fan of bark River due to the handles not fitting in with my needs, sorry I can't be more helpful.
In my opinion they got good quality control and a warranty that's hard to beat ❤
Great review! Thanks for sharing!
Great video rob

The dodo feathers were just for show.

Quality video mate👍
Great vid mate!! Time for a longer ferro rod though!
I have plenty of ferrorods I just like this one.
Good video, but with all these big blade videos you've been posting I'm feeling inadequate. I have a hankering for a big Bowie now. Cheers🙂
Cold steel trailmaster sanmai or Fallkniven modern Bowie?
Boker do a good looking Bowie at an excellent price, I've been thinking of getting one.

Hi Rob, how would u compare this crusader to the fallkniven a2? Or would the a1pro still win
I'd prefer a Fallkniven, as an all rounder I love the A1 pro or X.
@@RobEvansWoodsman thanks Rob, shame the a2 isn’t a better chopper! Can’t stretch to the modern bowie

Bark River Rocks !
nice big knife.
Rob of all the big knives you’ve tested/own is there a situation when you’d pack the knife over an axe and which knife would it be??
That's a difficult question, I'll say a large Bowie ,Trailmaster or Fallkniven but that's not 100%.

I know it would seem a shame, but couldn't you rough up the (micarta) handles a bit with a little sandpaper?
@@kaizen5023 absolutely i could, and yes it would be a shame lol usually they have matte version handles available on most runs.
What do you think about the crusader in comparison to the trailmaster or the thor?
Of the three I'd say sanmai trailmaster first then the Tor then the Bark River but they are all close.
@@RobEvansWoodsmanwhat about the Sanmai trail master do you prefer?

What? No feathers?
I know, awful state of affairs.
Nice knife good review. I don't think you realise how important bloopers are to a video, wise up. 😉😉
Old video with no bloopers available, sorry!
Dose anyone else do bloopers?
@@RobEvansWoodsman yeah, loads do.
Sure is a beast. 👍
Nice vid. For equal money could you buy a gb hatchet, a silky saw, and a good quality (smaller) knife?
Yes definitely , it would be the sensible option but I'm not that sensible!!
@@RobEvansWoodsman me neither. That’s why I have so many knives and guns. I like your vids.
Thanks Johnny.
Looks like a good knife, good review, I guess like everything else in life, nothings perfect, except your videos, see got in before you correct me lol
If they were perfect I'd be more popular mate.
@@RobEvansWoodsman Choose quality over quantity every time, some of those bushmen with thousands of views are not that good, keep up the good work

A bit curious why you're generally not a fan of Bark River. Is it the handles?
Yes , I'm not a fan, too slim, too shiny and I don't like the bolt placement.

Brilliant, could be a Conquistador aswel.

They was fast , 5 seconds.
I hope you are going to watch it!

That's a big chunk of a knife!
I thought you'd be more.suited to an axe for that kind of work!
I like to play with big knives sometimes.
