No description on fault codes is a major deal breaker for any "professional" use. It's a software update to fix, and it is one they need to do if they intend to compete with other scan tools in the price range.
@@joshuatracy4829 That's fine, but lookup simply does not cut it in the market. There are simply too many similarly priced tools with similar capabilities that have the descriptions locally stored. Actually, the fact that the older version had code descriptions and the new one does not makes it even worse. This means they already have a comprehensive library they simply chose not to, or neglected to, include on the new model.
Great Video, Needed a New Scan Tool for my Shop and I picked one of these up they also have one for HD Trucks which I also Picked up for working on Heavy Trucks and Equipment. Excellent Price. Time will tell if it lasts but for the price I could buy another and still only have spent a fraction of the cost of the other bi-direction scan tools.
@@FABAutomotiveDetailing Yeah, I picked up the same unit but has all the connections for HD equipment and those are on sale for $650 which is a far cry from $5500 for the cheapest HD scan tool I could find. Been working in mechanical repair since 97 and man the price of these on the tool trucks are getting worse. I can't see spending $15,000 for a Snap On Zues Scanner. When all it is a Tablet with a plastic case enveloping it an add on software. Even the Updates on these are only $200 per year after the the 2yr free updates. and even if you don't update it is still useable unlike other scan tool manufacturers that lock down everything and just make it a read only scan tool if you don't update it.

Would it have helped me with my charging system issues. I had bad voltage regulator reading at Orielly, but we didn't know if it was bad PCM or something else. Those types of things I'd need
It depends on the car make it really has nothing to do with the scanner. Fords are known for the PCM going bad and that’s what tells the alternator how much to put out. You have to read the ECM parameter for the alternator to see if it’s telling it to charge and how much. Hope that make sense.

For the X7 it's free for 2 years, then $99 a year to receive updates after that. However, you could continue to use it without updating if you chose to, you just wouldn't be able to get past the SGM (security gateway module) on newer-ish cars or get the latest updates. But again, the latest updates would most likely only really be relevant if you were working on newer cars.

Just curious, are most functions available on most cars? Or are some cars strictly limited to DTC and receive data? I'm assuming there's alot of stuff you need to download depending on make. Also are the updates free for life or is there future cost involved?
I used mine today for first time. I cleared all the codes and did anothere scan with no results. It stays stuck and says no readind of mcu. What can be the issue? Did i clear the computer reading?

@@markm6444but the live graph will show you the signal output to show you if it’s actually the sensor or the toner ring is bad or if no signal at all meaning it could be a wire issue
I have same scanner but now not working I get this all the time all initialization if generic obdll & eobd failed . can you tell me what is the problem
So driving around with live data on for example you could see the Fuel Injector cylinder 1 not working right, will this allow you to disable the instrument cluster Trumpet?
One thing I am excited about is the OBD is plugged into the scan tool and then tablet can go under the hood with me using live data no more going back and forth
Best scanner video on UA-cam, and I’ve seen a lot of them lately. I have a 2007 Chevy Kodiak C4500 class 5 “medium duty” commercial truck with a stock 6.6 Duramax LMM diesel. Just wondering if you think the X7 would graph the key DPF parameters while doing a forced exhaust regeneration? Or, at least, hopefully the X7 would show the “soot load” or other exhaust restriction data needed to show the condition of the diesel DPF. If not, do you have a specific recommendation for a scanner for this type of vehicle please? Maybe the Ancel HD3400 or 3500, or? I’d like to keep the cost down below $1,500.00 if possible. Thanks again.
@@MyJp1983 I had some problems after deleting too much information that was stored on the unit and it took several months to hammer out with customer service (I'm not a full time tech) after about 2 months of passive inquiry, They finally were able to send me a new password to use with the serial number on the unit and it updated to a new operating system. I leaned that I only need to download the auto makes that I need to work on to keep the RAM in operational perimeters. Other than that, I like it so far as it also works as a tablet for an internet browser as well. It does what much more expensive units do, has a touch screen, and is impact resistant. Definitely worth the money I paid which was about $600 with the 4 year extended warranty for the V6 unit.

Looks like a good scanner. Sprinters have Nox sensors, o2 sensors, and soot sensor. They all look like o2 sensors but nox sensors have a little control unit connected to it. They go bad all the time and mercedes has a customer initiative on most of the sprinters to fix this issue.
I am having a door ajar issue with a Ford Escape. Also, a Chrystler town & country intermittent no crank. Trying to isolate if it is tipm or wiring on it. Trying to see if this scanner looks at tipm data on the chrystler and gem module for doors on the ford and see historical data. For the cost of diagnosing one of them, I could get this scan tool and figure out both problems if this tool can access the data I need to figure out the issues.
Hi can you tell me if this can reset air bag module after a slight impact. My Silverado seat belts locked up and after replacing them the light is still on and i need to get it to shut off. I am looking to buy this scanner in order to reset the air bag module.

They have a look up option for codes but you need wifi. My ds 7 doesn't describe some but will others my old x6 showed me everything about the codes

That's the main thing I look for them fault codes that's where the problem is
Not always! Fault codes get you close but don’t always pin point the problem.

It all depends on the vehicle manufacturer as to what’s offered on live data stream. I’m not sure about the instrument cluster.

I do not believe it will program VIN numbers. That usually has to be done at a dealership.
You need a EEPROM Programmer to perform VIN Write functions.
