Is there any real difference between doing these types of exercises on a mat vs. wall pilates . . . I just keep seeing lots of articles saying wall is better and I appreciate the entire routine you just did so I can try it for myself. My knees do NOT like exercising and trying to find whole body without lunges, squats, etc. Thank you.
Hey. Certain exercises on the wall are going to be more beneficial than regular Pilates because you’re in a completely different position. With being on the wall you’re forced to engage your core, glutes and back muscles simultaneously more so than when you’re standing or just in the floor. It would go as far as say it’s better overall, but i think it’s definitely a great way to challenge your muscles in ways they won’t be challenged as much in regular Pilates.
What's the best mat to use to prevent slipping? Also how do you stop your feet from sleeping as your pushing up I sometimes find my feet slipped sometimes
Hey Rachel! I think you will find that if you start really pushing up through your pelvis while squeezing your glutes and engaging your core, the slipping should stop. The slipping happens when you’re pushing too much through your legs away from the wall 🩷
Is it normal to have lower back pain for first timers like me? Cause as much as I want to finish the whole 15-min workout, I have to stop at 8:00 cause I can’t handle the pain
Hey, yeah it’s common and it happens because of a weakness in your lower back, glutes and even core. Work on really pushing through your pelvis and squeezing your glute muscles tight rather than putting pressure on your back. Over time you will gain strength and the pain will go away completely.
Hey. This will target your whole body. It will help tone your muscles and of course burn calories. However if you need to lose fat then you need to focus on your diet. Consume less calories than you burn daily. Exercise alone will never be the answer. Diet always comes first. 🩷
I was going to skip the video because it doesn’t have narration; count downs, encouragement, tips and the like (I like to focus on my form and not watching the clock). But I stuck with it and was pleasantly surprised.
It can but it will be slower going. You’re far better off mixing it with different workouts, such as other wall Pilates like my 28 day wall Pilates challenge, HIIT and some resistance training. That will sculpt your body!
Hey, I recommend taking a rest day each week and on the other days switch up your training. Something different each day such as wall Pilates, upper body, lower body, full body etc
Hey. It’s really up to you how much you want to workout but I think 3 times per week is good. I would definitely alternate this with other exercise / workouts
@@JennaCollinsFitness Can I ask what cardio is best to keep toned but lean? I assume you get some cardio burn in a different way with this. I'm trying to tighten my thighs and tummy but keep lean and it's so difficult 🙏🥰

First time doing wall pilates i really enjoyed this work out thank you can i just ask im wanting to tone my stomach and bum will this work out help me with that if i do this 5 times a week? im only 8 stone but i feel i need more toning x

I would switch it up, doing the same workout daily can get a bit boring. If the results you are looking for is fat loss, the your main focus absolutely must be on your diet, not exercise. This workout will of course burn fat but you can’t out train a bad diet. You need to be in a calorie deficit.
@@JennaCollinsFitnessthank you! I ended up moving a shelf and a shoe wrack around and carved out a little wall space for myself. I was able to do the workout! My favorite part was the abs. Who knew that such a small movement could pack such a big burn! I'm excited to try out your other videos too!

Hey. Yea this is a common question and it is simply because you’re putting too much pressure on your lower back. This happens because your lower back is weaker as well as having a weakness in your glutes and core. It’s also possible that you’re not weak in your glutes and core but simply not using those muscles enough. Try to push leasing with your pelvis while keeping your core tight and don’t let your back arch. Over time you will build strength in these muscles.
I'm very thin and I'd love to get my butt and legs built up with a toned tummy and arms. Will this do it? I'd go back to lifting but I'm almost 40 and I'm worried about my knees.
Hey. This will definitely help to build muscle in your legs and glutes. The key to growing muscle is to apply progressive overload. This means making it harder in some way as you progress basically, if you’re not continuously challenging your muscles they won’t grow. 💗
Hey, if your legs are straight on the wall then your butt should be very close. Hope this makes sense, I think I’ll start doing voice overs this will help 😊🌸💗
Hey! It’s a really good question and I do talk about this a lot in my sit down videos. I really don’t recommend cardio as a primary exercise option. Yes it’s important and I do encourage it however for overall functional fitness and to build some lean muscle I advise a mix of weighted training (doesn’t need to be in the gym, dumbbells are perfect), along with some HIIT style workouts and Pilates.

Do they help with anxiety and depression
I believe exercise can be very beneficial for this 😊
Aww my neck hurts so good 😅😅
Is it normal to feel burning on the legs not the stomach?
Yes, the primary muscles worked are your legs and glutes, however your core is still also being worked the entire workout.
Wow that was hard. Bout lies it. I find it hard to keep my bum against the wall and not keep moving up the mat.
Does anyone know the measurement of feet position as from the ground? so i can mark the line?
Are we supposed to be keeping our butts near the wall when we come down on those first few excercises ?
Hey, if your legs are straight on the wall then your butt should be very close. If your feet are on the wall helping create the movement then you want to make sure your butt is far enough away that your thighs can be vertical and not too close to your chest. Hope this makes sense, I think I’ll start doing voice overs this will help 😊🌸💗

Hey. Engage your core more and also your glutes
How much calories does this burn?
Don’t focus on that, as long as you’re consuming a diet of mainly healthy whole foods and you’re not in a calorie excess you’re fine 😊
Does it help with weight loss if I just do this type of exercise (+calorie deficit) instead of cardio?
Cardio doesen’t always work like for me cardio doesn’t help at all. But Pilates has really helped get my waist smaller and feel more toned
