The most noticeable flaw the family made was the order they were walking in. No reasonable person would allow their kids to walk behind them in a place that isn't 100% safe. I get the father should be leading since he probably can scout the path for any obstacles that might cause sound for his fam, but definitely agree the wife should've at least been in the back

The one thing that really got me, was the fact that the monsters opened their protective armor when listening. So just sit silently, wait for them to listen, and then fire a round into their head. It is really no different than deer hunting.
yea...except these things are fast and could kill you a deer will just run and unless ur skilled at hunting I don't think you would always hit ur shots(which attract more momsters)and would even know that. I'd be too panicked to think tbh

@@luck3yp0rk93not really, these things seem to have extremely weak flesh outside of its armor plates, a scope on a rifle or just a shotgun could wait for the monster to listen, fire the shot from a sand path and silently get outta the area
except these are hyper evolved killing machines? not to mention you kill one, you attract every creature in a 5-10 mile radius (idk exactly).
@@rith2757Or use a bow. Even if it doesn’t kill it, the creature would attack the place the arrow fell, not where you are.

I feel like in this scenario military or cops would test sound weapons right away and--upon noticing the most obvious and exploitable weakness ever for a movie monster--these things would be exterminated or at least driven into hiding (assuming they're intelligent enough to do so).
Not going to lie, I also found it strange that the military didn’t bother to use any of the sound weapons, experimental or not, against the creatures. Once the military found out the creatures reacted to sound, it would really be a no brainer to use such weapons.
For real, these "weapons" already exist too. The US military, some police departments, and even cargo ships have them for pirate defense. They are called LRADs (long-range acoustic devices) and produce targeted beams of sound to non-lethally subdue singular or groups of people. It was the only thing I thought about while watching the movie
I think the lore states that these things came out of nowhere and no-one knew they were sensetive to sound until there were few people left scattered, I still think a military bunker surrounded by electric fences would have the US command staff and Sonic weaponry inside of a week if this happened but we don't see the details of the arrival.
even more: apparently some makeshift sonic weapons do the trick, so apparently in this universe, no survivor saw mars attacks xD
One of my friends that I play D&D with is a sound engineer and works for one of the major car companies on audio tech. (He is also a electrical engineer.) While watching the movie after a game, he stated that he could have a multi frequency sound emitter setup in a day or two. Then using cameras he would cycle the frequencies until he found one that would work. Also we as a group found the creature BS. The armor might stop everything (somehow) but the insides are still, clearly soft, and any large explosion would scramble their insides, no matter how hard the carapace is.
Since Marcus is sick he would be a sitting duck watching Bo. He can’t move, so he can’t get to him quickly to prevent noise nor can he evade danger should noise be made. He certainly can’t speak out to stop his brother from doing something reckless.
Also Bo should be walking ahead of everyone so they can keep an eye on him. Hell, the smallest child should be near the front apocalypse or not
I politely disagree. The youngest kid should’ve been in the middle. So that he could’ve easily been reached in time by everyone capable.

It always confused me how they could differentiate prey sound from anything else. Why aren't there like 30 monsters stuck attacking the waterfall for making splashing noises, or hell, attacking the other creatures from the sounds they make hunting. They charged the kid for the rocket toy sounds, which are not organically made, so why not just set up a speaker system on top of a weather balloon, shove it off, and draw every creature in the country away to death valley or something
the difference between the waterfall and the toy rocket is that only one of them is natural. going off of what I've seen of a quiet place despite having never watched the movie, the monsters understand what is natural and what isn't. they also recognize the screeches of their own species, which means they probably communicate that way. since, from what I've seen, humans are their primary food source, they would've known or had to learn that man-made things, like the toy rocket, the honk of a car, etc, can lead to finding the next meal. so they target things that they know are unnatural noises on earth in order to hunt effectively
or i could be totally wrong, like i said I've never seen the movie and I'm only going off of content I've seen floating around to make my own understanding of the monsters behavior
Why not ? Because in this movie alongside the monsters arrival descended a super contagious decease making everyone stupid 😅.
because the creatures are fairly smart. they can tell that the waterfall is consistent and not changing. they listen for random/sudden sounds. similarly how with vision, predators can detect movement more easily.
Let’s be honest this lady had no business getting pregnant during a potential apocalypse.🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️

What I love about this movie is that, not only is it very suspenseful, but the characters feel so real

Why the dad, who has a litteral throwable object in hand, prefer to become a yelling meme instead of throwing it, making a bait sound, and possibly recover from his wounds instead of sacrificing for the sake of sacrificing.
Won't blame you for loving it, but I disagree on the family, considering they spent a year and a half in this situation yet made some mistakes that could be avoided with a bit of thinking

14:45 I think you mixed up the reason why he wouldn't take Reagan to the river, it was a chance to explain to his son that he doesn't have to be afraid all the time, because by the waterfall he can make all the noise he wants and the creatures can't hear him, very hard to do that with a deaf child that doesn't know how loud anything is. Reagan had to stay home to help her Mother, she couldn't have gone instead and Dad couldn't have explained without giving away the surprise for his son.
But Reagan has used a hearing aid before, so she knows what sound is. And she knows that more sound = more danger.
All her dad would have to do would be tell her "sound is OK here, because the waterfall is very loud"
the dumbest mistakes in this movie is that they left their youngest child at the back of the line which is so dumb bc the kids shouldve been in the middle and the parentsat the front and back.
Mistake no.2 is her getting pregnant in a bloody apcolapsype where the smallest soiund means death and babaies are super fuckin loud and nothing will truly block out the sounds they make.
And also i agree with u that lee's death couldve been avoided like even if evelyn didnt do anythin lee still couldve thrown the axe againt the wooded shack which woldve made the alien go towards that instead of him just standing there and yelling.
Other than those its still a good movie.
They decided to have a baby bc they wanted to replace the kid they lost, which by the way, was THEIR fault. The way the kid died is just so brain dead 💀. The parents have the brains to build all these complex anti-alien systems, but not enough brains 🧠 to keep a young child’s at the front ☠️

My first priority would be getting onto a boat or island. The creatures are thin and heavy, easily heard running from a distance, so although they are shown holding their breath underwater, it is unlikely that they can swim. Boats would be the safest place but no boat stays afloat forever so moving to islands and building walls on the beaches would be top priority.
that's in the 2nd movie there is a island that everyone fled to but one of the monsters attaches its claws to the bottom of the boat and holds its breath and reek rampage on the island

From what I remember all it takes is 1 shot from a shotgun to the head. The whole movie is a joke because armies have literal airplanes, tanks, machine guns etc. yet they didn't do shit.

Only when they are attempting to sense stuff do they let there guard down. Initial intellect would cause trouble but I'd say after a few months any military would be able to handle it. Even the local hunters could rig something easily.

if you’re going to go looking for your kids at least bring the shotgun you never know what the fireworks could attract i’m pretty sure it brought more monsters but still May be it might attract some rogue humans or Raiders
A couple years ago, my parents showed me this when I walked in on them watching it, 2-3 years later and I realise that its sadder than it is scary. 10/10 movie.

It's what I always consider bad writing. His death has nearly 0 sense, but is necessary for plot
First thing I’d do is prioritize several rooms be soundproof. Humans make unintentional sounds all the time, such as stomachs rumbling, as well as snoring. If several rooms were made soundproof, this gives Evelyn more places to hide. Secondly, communication is key. While Evelyn is pregnant, I’d have made it a rule that while Lee is out with either Marcus or Reagan, the other has to stay put with their mother in the event she goes into labor, as well as make sure Evelyn stays put in one of the soundproof rooms so she doesn’t need to worry about making noise. The basement itself was a bad idea to begin with. Asides the nail, there’s always the stress of squeaky floorboards. Seeing that the creatures attack blindly at anything that makes noise, I’d try out a few traps. Such as digging a few holes that are several feet deep. These creatures don’t possess echolocation since they can’t detect anything in front of them unless it makes a sound and would be best to make while it’s raining heavily to mask the noise. After that, it’s a matter of covering the holes with something to help you find them. You don’t wanna fall into one yourself. The idea isn’t to trap one of the creatures, but more to get it to run and get a limb into one of the holes with its momentum, causing it to injure one or several of its limbs. This would slow down the creatures significantly if they’ve gotta deal with an injury. This also gives us time to observe the healing rate of the creatures. Now, while this may cause the other creatures to be more cautious, they may begin to feel around for traps, meaning that they’d be less likely to charge. The best case scenario would be that a creature loses a limb, and we’d be able to use a freezer to contain the limb while we gather chemicals from the pharmacy to test different chemicals on the creature’s flesh and exoskeleton.

Why would they not just live by the waterfall? Or down in some deep cave with entrances easy to block off? Or why not dig a giant moat all the way around your property? Or build a giant artificial waterfall that covers up any sounds you happen to make?
First, the water fall one i a really good idea! Except they probably would have had to make a whole new house probably causing a-lot of noise. The cave one has some issues like echoes and if the monster somehow gets in, assuming there is only one exit, well you can see the complications that can cause. The moat would cause noise while they make it, same for the makeshift waterfall. These are good points though 👍

I think the best way to destroy the monsters is lure into trap by low sounds until they get close to the trap and create super extreme loud noises.
And have a bomb set up to explode nearby after the large noise goes off?

The creatures or their menace do not change based on daytime. They are active 24/7. I totally agree on that the family leaves the child at his own devices. Children are children and if you look after them in normal times, then you should be twice as careful during scary times.

Even the monsters had plot armor... I mean, they were supposed to be sound reactive creatures, but when the plot needed it, they were clever ambushers that didn't even need sound to find their prey.
For Marcus i would have had a plastic straw so he can drink the water silently and do a signal with my hand so he won't make a loud noise when finished drinking it

They would all survive if they never make a second baby after the death of the little boy. If the mother never went into labor, I believe everyone would survived.
I'd survive A Quiet Place by making my home near the waterfall, where the monsters already know there are regular loud, confusing noises. Yes, the farm gives you a building pre-built, but if they are able to survive this well in the face of this monster outbreak, then they should have considered what value there would be in living somewhere that will conceal small noises.
Better yet, hey could actually use the barn as a main base and slowly transport resources to make a building near he waterfall which would’ve been extremely useful for the baby that was coming later down the road.
I would have tried building a house closer to the river, and if not a whole house at least a room
