    From about the mid-'70s until 1990, I saw Foghat at least 10 times. They opened for everyone it seems. What a fantastic live act, a tremendous slide player. Thanks for posting this, it brought back some great memories.

      Thanks Fred, you beat me to it, was gonna say the same thing. Seems like every time I saw Aerosmith two or three years in a row, Foghat played before them. A very underrated band, some good albums but excellent live. They didn't really care about being headliners, they just wanted to boogie.

    Love Foghat! Lonesome Dave Peverett and Rod "the Bottle" Price were awesome and underrated back then. They really put out some great albums. Their first and their live albums have held up well. Keep it up David!

      Lonesome Dave and Rod were the life blood of Foghat. A few years back I was shocked to see he died in NH. I was living in NH. at the time. He was laying low, retired In NH. and quietly giving guitar lessons. Same goes for Brad Delp. I lived right up the road on the seacoast.

    Great lesson Dave! On top of his cool guitar work, Lonesome Dave was a great singer. He sang with tons of soul and conviction. So many great singer/guitar players from that era. I have to add, the guitar work at the end of their song 'Eight Days on the Road' blows me away every time I hear it.

    I saw Foghat several times live during the late 1970s & early 1980s as both an opening act & as a headlining act. I grew up down the street from an excellent venue that had about 1500 seats and I saw Foghat as a headlining act there on 3 different tours. The last time I saw them there was October 27, 1983 for $8.50! I still have the ticket stubs. Foghat Live was an excellent LP that everyone had back then. There was about 5-10 live LPs that everyone had during the 1970s and early 1980s and Foghat Live was in the top 5. Foghat was also a band the ladies liked as well. That Oct 1983 Foghat show I mentioned I took my future wife to and we are still married today. When I was in a band doing covers during the 1980s & 1990s we played a few Foghat songs. We had a bass player who was our lead singer as well and really more of a singer than a bass player. When we added "Fool For The City" to our set I remember him always complaining about how difficult it was for him to play and how it forced him to actually practice the bass Lololol everytime we practiced it or played it he moaned and complained LOLOLOL He did at least learn how to play it properly so only us in the band new about the trouble it gave him LOLOL Foghat was an excellent band that really fit that time period well. Lonesome Dave died years ago but Foghat still tours with the drummer being the only original member left. I saw a few live videos of them live from last summer and they still kick ass and sound great live.

    I definitely was in a fog during the 1970s jamming to Foghat with 714s and cousins and Stroh's beer. 1971-78 Foghat ruled. These guys rocked. Foghat was great music to drink to back in the 70s. I'll be standing by was off the Night Shift album and did not get airplay but definitely should have. That was my favorite song off that album for this 16 year old kid in 1976. I know every song on Foghat's first 8 albums because I grew up jamming to them on 8-track cruising in my car as a teenager. Their obscure music is their best.

    Mr. Brewster, some time you need to do a clip on the slide work of Rod Price (if you haven't already). He had a very cool, but different take on slide, and being that Foghat records were all over FM rock stations back in the 70s, he was one of the most widely heard slide guitar players of that time -- yet even in slide circles he doesn't get mentioned much. He also did a lot of lead playing on his SGs. Great vid here, it's nice to see a meat and potatoes rock band like Foghat get some guitar cred.

    My first concert was Foghat in 1978 at the University of Nevada Reno gymnasium. I snuck out of my room and rode my bike. $3.50 for my ticket. I was instantly hooked. Rod Price did things I didn’t know were possible with his slide playing. Lonesome Dave’s voice was amazing. My ears were ringing for days. From that point on I went on a lifelong journey into playing guitar. My second concert was AC/DC with Bon Scott singing. Again, I snuck out of my room, rode my bike, and paid $3.50. Awesome.

    I was fortunate enough to see the original band back in the late 70s numerous times in small upstate NY clubs. Rod price was a masterful slide/lead player, and "Lonesome Dave" was as soulful as they come as a their front man. Please do a "deep dive" on their classic "Dreamer" from Rock & Roll Outlaws, and "Drivin' Wheel" and "Burnin' the midnight oil" from their '76 masterpiece, Night Shift!

    If you were around during the late 70`s you heard Foghat blasting from every car in the school parking lots and the pot smoking hangouts before and after school. Same goes for keg parties on Friday and Saturday nights or throwing the frisbee around in the park on the weekend. Foghat was always blasting out of a Chevelle, Camaro or Trans Am. Great band and their music still sounds great almost 50 years later.

    Hi,,Another great lesson..I would guess that the D6 chord in fool for the city was an accident...they probally just tried to play a 2 string D and the open B string bled into it and they liked it and kept it..I base this on myself almost never playing that voicing ...always adding the D note on the B string just in case Thanks...Dave

      @@cygnals524 Hello Cygnals, yes indeed, of course. But what is odd that a British band can have such success in the US, but ignored domestically. Robin Trower is another that springs to mind. You'd expect people / press to be proud. Alas: not. So a British band ignored by America is one thing, but to be ignored by your own country is weird. That was my point, really. Having said that the US has ignored some of its own finest bands ... Starz, Angel, Cry of Love ,for example. Anyway, a lovely day to you mate ... enjoy. :)

    • @cygnals524
      @cygnals524 2 роки тому +2

      @René ahhhh, I see, I missed that point. I didn't know Robin Trower wasn't huge in Britain. That is bizarre. I am a guitar player and half the reason my Fender Strat is the color it is because it is the same color that Robin Trower used during the 1970s lolol I use to teach myself to play by putting on certain LPs and Bridge of Sighs was one of them. I also have some Angel & Starz LPs in my collection as well. Unfortunately they were mostly an opening act and most people have no clue who they are. It is an interesting topic I never really gave it much thought but I will have to research this a bit more now. Have an awesome day my friend & good vibes to you from across the pond. Take care!

      @@cygnals524 Hi again. Thanks for your comments. Oh, Robin Trower is my favourite guitarist! You have excellent taste. (Not to mention Starz and Angel in your collection 👏👏👏). I have looked at buying Robin’s signature Fender Strat, but, alas, unless they come with his fingers, I doubt it will help me sound like the great man. 😀 Have a lovely weekend when it arrives, mate. 👍
