I used to watch the Midnight Special, it was one of the best venues to watch bands perform live and to evaluate whether or not to purchase concert tickets when the bands came to our geographic area. It was a good resource to view bands performing live, and we could frequently see them perform more than just two songs like on some other shows like on the Ed Sullivan Show, and many of the other variety shows. Another great show was Don Kirshner’s, which is where I first saw Peter Frampton perform live. It’s too bad that there currently are no shows on regularly that are similar nowadays. When MTV started up, there were often live shows being broadcast late in the evenings, many of them were punk rock performances, but they were also live, however, that didn’t go on much more than a year, once there were enough music videos to show around the clock, 24/7, unfortunately, there are very few music videos shown on MTV anymore, instead they have reality shows broadcasting much of the day and night, and very little music videos at all. Thank you for sharing this video and posting it on UA-cam! Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨🎸

You should have seen them in concert! You would be exhausted halfway thru their set, and smile saying to yourself, I still have 1 to 2hrs left! They were a "Jam Band"
@@65Wildkat I saw them in 81? I think `81, and they were not as good as I thought. I listened to Foghat, Live! 1 mill. times back then and maybe had too much expectation, as I was only 14. This was an incredible time for rock and roll- there will never be a time like this again.....

What a way to start awesome Friday with a classic rock band on a classic show!!!! Foghat🤘 space ace ron ⚡️⚡️⚡️
Saw Foghat in concert many years ago. Classic rock at it’s best!
Saw them in 1977 @ the scope arena in Norfolk, Va. Good olde Navy days. 😊
One of the very best in the great 70's FOGHAT ! Still LOVE their music.
The Boogie Men!!! My absolute favorite band from this era, finally got to see them in concert in 1979 in Corpus Christi, TX- hell of a great party! The opening act wasn't bad either- Judas Priest!
Very fitting, early JP owed a lot to Foghat and Savoy Brown
I think that was the year they cancelled a show in Houston because of a hurricane.
They rescheduled for but I missed the announcement.
Still have 4 unused tickets...
To think there's still so much unseen Foghat footage out there...keep 'em coming!
That Thumping Bass, is holding it all together! What a badass band! 🎉
Back when being a talented musician was more important than good looks...
Video killed the radio star.
And they sill managed to look and dress ultra-cool!
As a lady, I think the band members here are HOT! 😅
Tons of confidence & masculinity / steaming performance! 🤩
They were so good. Wish I a dollar for every time we jammed Foghat Live on my 8 track in the Pinto.
The audience only just arrived from The Price Is Right. : )
70s had so much great music. Great to see them actually performing too.
Awesome. Thank you so much. More Foghat please. And any Edgar Winter you may have.
Working on it!
@@themidnightspecialtvshow Excellent!!! Thank you very much. Did Rory Gallagher ever perform on Midnight Special?
@@dougjarvie12 Always nice to see Rory's name in the comments! He has a new live cd check it out :-) Peace
@@jimiplayscobo5877 I have Rory's new cd and it is excellent.
@@dougjarvie12 Hey my name is Doug. I thought I heard every version of Tatto'd Lady now a new one. I love how he changes the lead in that song.
Put that 58-second intro on repeat for infinity.
I listen to Foghat to this day. Stone Blue is my favorite.
THis is incredible live. This sounds like theyre in the studio!!!!
As a teen in the 70's...I sure toked up to Foghat! I mean come on people...this is "I gotta get high man" music.
Saw them live 3 times in the 70’s. Awesome!
Saw them live in 74. Opening acts were Wet Willie and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Great era in Music to grow up in. The BEST!
Love Roger Earl behind that set of Ludwig drums!
Thanks for his name, he’s a hottie 😅
short version but man this is tight, a complete band, saw this lineup a couple of times, one of my favorite bands back in the day, they were amazing live, they could get the roof bouncing like in those 1930's cartoons, rip dave and rod, we lost them way too early.
YES !!! Thank you for sharing this with us !!!
You bet
An SG,Les Paul Jr,Fender Precision,Ampeg, Hiwat I don't know the drum brand...but that's all you need to make good music!!!!
RIP Lonesome Dave saw them 3 times in the 70's
They really knew how to rock in the 70's. I was a young uni student when I first heard this. Blew my mind.
As I recall..... it was Y1976.... in Pittsburgh. Civic Arena.
What a great concert!
What a Fool from the City, I was that evening!
You mean this video is from 1976?
Witness the power of the Gibson P-90 pickup! There's nothing else like it.
Except an SG's humbuckers!
This was 50 years ago! I remember this episode well🎸🎶♥️
incredible!
sick guitar riffs
♥️🎸⚡️🌟
Deadly I’ve seen a million Midnight Special episodes but never seen this one before thanks for posting it!!!!!
I was 11 when this came out. 51 years later and I’m still rocking to it!😂🕺
