You should get some of those qrcode tags so you walk by and scan the code with your phone and it shows the name and picture. And when you get ready to dig and store you can put the tag with tubers to make it easier to plan where they go next year! And if you use your big crates for more than one variety you can use a big piece of cardboard as a divider.
Thank you Laura & Aaron for all you do ! One question, since it’s fall & your drip tubing is off in your raised beds, how often will you water your garlic crop ? Thank you & God Bless ! 🙏❤️🙏
I'm not as knowledgeable as Laura but I do grow a couple thousand garlic each year so I think I can help with this question! 😊 It's the wet season during winter where I live, so I basically don't water all winter. They grow very very slowly during winter, so they don't need a lot of water. Lightly damp is all they need during winter (though they can handle plenty of moisture as long as they're well-drained). When I plant them in autumn, I water when I plant them, then I usually can forget about them until spring. If it's really dry for an extended period in autumn/winter and the soil is drying right out, then give them a drink. Other than that, I don't really start watering until spring, when their growth starts going bonkers. But if I get occasional rain during spring, then I don't worry about watering at all. They're a great crop coz they're so stinkin easy to grow. Just make sure there's zero competition (no weeds, no grass) or your bulbs will be tiny. Garlic doesn't like competition. Besides that, just make sure the soil isn't desert and you'll be good! 😄
Love your channel and you are such an inspiration to all of us. I love the variety of videos you post and some of my favorite are at your parent’s garden center and your property is amazing! Do you naturally have the motivation to do everything you do? I struggle with being motivated and you seem to be always positive and excited about all your projects. I also love that Aaron is contributing more to your recap videos. Love to see how you interact with each other ❤
Laura, you made us laugh this morning. You enjoyed your raspberries lol! So cute. And it was amazing getting an up close look at your dahlias, thank you. Your grass pathways are so nice and pleasing to the eye. What a fun way to start the day 40 minute walk, breakfast & coffee watching Garden Answer. The Best!
A couple of questions: You went back to the auger, did you not like the stick thing, and how often will you water the garlic during the winter? People are going to miss you not having a free flower day. The dahlias are beautiful this year. I think Clyde's Choice is my favorite. I love the color.
Good morning, Laura, from Windermere, Florida zone 9b ❤ Great to follow you around doing your morning chores. Those Dalhias are To Die For! Happy Gardening Everyone 👩🌾👍 ❤Peggy❤
@Meems56 Good morning 👍 I've been watching Laura since May of 2016 and, yes, she's wonderful. She inspired me to start my own garden channel back in 2020, at age 70! I love getting people out of their chairs to grow flowers, veggies and raise worms to grow better soil. Thanks for saying hi 👋
Oh my gosh your flowers are amazing! My daughter loves the cut flower garden I start for her each year. It would be so special to get some of your Dahlias to put in her garden.
Good morning everyone 🌻🌞 Have a blessed day ❤🤗 Gorgeous flowers! Dahlias and zinnias are so beautiful even though October! I waited to buy some because we moved but so many to buy for a yard that has no flowers but a neglected butterfly bush and a knock out rose....
In the first few years I threw a lot of organic flowerseeds for wildlife around. It's a lot of work and money to fill in your garden at once. This way I had flowers for months and the bees and butterflies loved it. Slowely I'm adding more plants, but the flowers and wildlife come back every year 😊.
This is why I love your channel. You do the work. You are organized. You talk about issues with honesty and solutions. Your product recommendations are so helpful. The FELCO gloves for doing thorny projects saved my hands today. You are not whiney when challenges are there. You have a bunch of info and present it in an accessible way. I know it sounds wild but it also might just be too fun! What do you think of carving and hallowing out a pumpkin and making them beautiful dahlia hats for a fall tea party centerpiece. You can use the pumpkin tops as a floral frog or simply just drill down into them around the rim. You showed a large dinner plate and I said to myself woah that’s the size of a hat 👒. You mentioned one reminded you of a pumpkin and boom your fall project is set to do with the kitchen did and your mom. Maybe even a few for display at the Garden Center? Have fun with it! God bless you and your family. You kept me watching for 3 plus years strong now.
Great video as always. Quick question if anyone knows does garlic need a cold/ dormant period? Curious as where I’m based we don’t get that and I would be interested in trying to grow some
Gorgeous Dahlias. So interesting to see how they are labeled and tagged to get ready for storage. Planting garlic, so informative. The flower garden is perfection❤
Love all the dahlias! I’m in zone 4 and I feel like I got about two weeks seeing my dahlias bloom, even though I sprouted them early in the house. Any tips for getting to the blooming stage more quickly? Would it help to have them in big pots to keep the soil warmer?
What I'd give for red raspberries. Most of time they're moldy in stores. I buy frozen for jams. Your so sweet about the raspberries. Just makes a person's day. Thank you so much. bless you. you.
Dálias fazem um jardim tão bonito é de um sem fim de variedade cada qual a mais bela. Adoro ver os seus vídeos tudo é muito bonito. Parabéns beijinhos gosto de ver.
even though I've planted garlic before, love the refresher course and of course found out the difference between hardneck and softneck which I didn't know before, thanks! I've planted both this year. and I might just get that tool from Gardener's Supply!
Am in 7b and I didn't dig it up last year my first time planting, now it's blooming none stop didn't buy too much because it was a trial for me , now am in love 😊
ok. 3rd times the charm for me with garlic. Ist year I planted it in a raised planter - didn't make it through the winter (maybe not enough light), 2nd year I planted them in the ground and left them too long. This year, fingers crossed.
This is my second year of growing dahlias. Thanks to your inspiration, I actually have a tiny little cut flower garden and it gives me so much joy! My question after growing tubers that I saved from last year is have you seen your dahlias start to revert to different colors? I read up on it this week and apparently, it's a thing. I've got dahlias that are supposed to be pure white that are turning different shades of speckled pink and dahlias that were supposed to be orange that now have some really beautiful, dark pink varigation along with the orange. Makes me wonder what everything's going to look like next year! I am totally ready for the next adventure in gardening. 🌺🤩🌸
Great video! Laura, when you start to harvest your Sweet Potatoes --- think of NORTH CAROLINA. The Top Sweet Potato Producing State is NORTH CAROLINA. With the sweet potato as its state vegetable, it’s no surprise that North Carolina is the No. 1
I'm planting garlic for the first time this year and really appreciated this video! But my favorite things were the dahlias and zinnias. Oh my, to be in a patch of those beauties! How beautiful😊
I see that you still used the auger instead of the wooden thing , lol . I think your garden is so relaxing even looking at it thru a screen . My coffee and garden answer is a great start to any day . I can’t believe that you’re still picking strawberries 🍓! Enjoy you certainly do have a gift which I’m sure you don’t think you do , but you do !!! Have been watching for years . Thank you for all your information that you give us . Enjoy your day ❤
Good morning Laura and family Cut Flower Garden is beautiful love alk those colors I'm ready to plant my garlic. Thanks for sharing, have a wonderful rest of the day 👋🙂🍓
Good Morning! 🌻 One of these years, I am going to plant garlic! I need to decide where to plant! Those Dahlias are so pretty! But as you said they are a lot of work.Maybe I might try one or two varieties in the future! 😃🧄🍓🌼 🌿
Piddling around just getting things checked off your list ✅✅✅ as B Man would say check check. Great job. Only 5 rows to go.😂😂😂. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us. Appreciated.✅✅✅🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Good morning GA :) Question, do you have any recommendations for shorter growing dahlia varieties? Something for along my front walk that won’t become a dahlia forest? Thanks!
Look for dahlias that are labeled "border" or "patio." The Gallery series of dahlias are short, as are the Melody series, and the Happy Singles (although they can get 3 feet tall).
I have so many questions about your dahlias! What's the difference in performance between the ones your overwintered in the ground and the newly planted ones? Since 40% of the overwintered dahlias didn't come up (and you presumably didn't realize they were dead until deep into planting season), how/when did you fill in the empty spots?
Hi 😊 you may want to check out her previous videos. "Results from over wintering Dahlias in the ground..." (4 months ago) and "2022 Dahlias Tour" (1 year ago). There's a lot of info. 👍👌
@@violetamayer6298 I specifically wanted information about the difference in performance between the ones that were dug up and the ones that were left in the ground. She hasn't talked about that yet.
Morning all from Southern Illinois zone 6. Beautiful sunny brisk fall day with the high in lower 60’s. Out I go to plant some bulbs today and put a few hostas and heucheras from pots before the cold comes.
This was the 1st time I planted dahlias & I got stalks. As I went to pull my tallest stalk I see a bud at the top. What do I do? Leave it or pull it. I’m in NJ zone 6A & we had lots of rain & now it’s low 40s at night & mid 60s
Laura - I always enjoy your, “Hey guys, how’s it going”. But, honestly, your sign off - “Thanks for watching this video, I hope you enjoyed it” - how could we not?! I’ve seen *almost* every single GA video and yes, love, I enjoy them all.
I love the close up footage of Laura picking berries. Hopefully next year you can do the flower giveaway, especially to the assisted living residence and elderly shut in’s. Benjamin’s smile when he handed out flowers or put on neighbor’s doorsteps last year was precious. Princess Samantha is old enough to join next time! ❤❤❤ Thank you GA Team!!! 😊😊
You can also use the spacing on the “dibber” to space plants by laying it horizontal. For us older folks, we can use it to help us off our knees, small cane! Lol.
What a beautiful productive day! I love Dahlias, I've been trying to grow Dahlias little by little here in my zone 9b FL so far I have the dwarf and tall as 9 ft. 💜🌺 Happy Fall y'all!
Perhaps it would be good idea to plant the dinner plate dahlias in your flower beds instead of with the cut flower garden. That way you can enjoy them just to look at in your borders. Still can't get over how beautiful your dahlias grow! It's definitely the right climate for them! ❤
The large yellow dahlia at 19:43 is Kelvin Floodlight. I have these and they are my grandkids favorite as they get a kick out of how big they are "Look grandma it's as big as my head" :)
That giant yellow Dahlia is likely 'La Luna'. The dark purple one with the dark stems is 'Thomas Edison'. Bees are only attracted to Dahlias that have open faces, i.e. singles, anemone types, or collarette varieties, because they can only get to the pollen of those types.
You know those talk flags we use to have on our Hot Wheel trikes? That's what Laura needs to wear while she labels the dahlias so everyone knows where she is! 😂 Aren't they the most gorgeous crop?
Oh my 😮😮😮😊😊💓🌸 what a dream to be surrounded by so many beautiful flowers. They're so beautiful. 😍 great to see how garlic is planted. Those raspberries look yummy
How beautiful it would be if you could plant some of your dahlias in your garden beds to add colour……their individuality and beauty get lost a bit being planted in one big crowded bed.
The view over the dahlias to the garden flower shed looks so lovely. I'm always impressed how you remember all the names of the varieties you have and seeing the many varieties in one garden.
I am going to plant garlic this year for the first time. How often do you water in the fall when you first plant? Then when so you start watering in the spring and how frequently? I do not have drip irrigation. Thx 💚
Laura, I hope you have received the package. I sent the redwood and I got as much of the root as I could there weren’t any other ones but I noticed that we get our strong winds from the east and the longest root was facing East. you might want to put rooting powder on these on some of these plants and let their roots develop a little bit more. I think that rooting powder and just sticking them directly where you want them for the Aspen the quaking aspen and maybe the birch they should be fine if you plant them out where you want them. They may seem small but they grew 5’ - 6’ here just this season. There are several birch but because there were three different kinds close I could not tell you which you received. The Honey Berries: the darker grey ones with whorls or little branching are the upright smaller leaf plant which birds love. It got 6’ x 4’ but I did cut back the top. I planted the blue velvet which has large elongated leaves pointed at both ends, about 5’ from the previous type but 6’ would have been better. This plant is low, 3’ at the main stem. It’s branches are low and long. New growth is a warm golden brown and the berries are hidden from the birds under the canopy of leaves. They are very large and tasty but you will have to lift the branch to find them (easy and berries are in clusters). I would put rooting powder on them and put them in the wind tunnel until spring but water all these plants well for a bit. None of the quotes I got for shipping and for delivery were what they said when I showed up. I even drove across town twice because they said 15 days for delivery. The bottom row of branches was already dry looking on the redwood which is about 10- 12 years old - very slow grower.. The deciduous trees are fast. The quaking silver aspen has dime sized leaves and the quaking aspen’s are between 1/2 dollar and a silver$ size. They said you should receive them by Friday so you may have them already. Sorry about the “sleeve” for the redwood. But packing and so much given away or boxed up.Sort of embarrassed to use it but it was a clean rag and it help to protect the tree. I used what I had. I do hope they survive. I have sent to GA. and everything did well.
Those dahlias are looking so beautiful! I’ve had the same experience of ordering a mix or even specific tubers and the wrong ones coming up. Always pretty but a bit of a disappointment. I’m glad you got a happy surprise!
Thank you for all the information and tips on growing garlic. Question: How much water do you give them? Do you keep them moist? Do they need to dry out in between watering? Those dahlias are gorgeous! The good thing for your viewers is that through your garden, we can see what each look like to know what we would want for our garden. I imagine most people don't have that many. That is a lot of work! But absolutely beautiful!
What a productive day. Thanks for taking us along. Question--Have you thought a changing your profile pictures 4 times a year for the changing seasons? Since the picture that's there doesn't exist anymore?
Garden centers have them. I actually saw packaged ones at Walmart a couple of weeks ago. And yes, you can plant garlic purchased from the grocery store.
🌻Good day everyone! I hope you all have a great start to a new week. Happy Fall 🍁🧡🍂
Thanks and enjoy the rest of your week!

I just wondered the same about the stick / auger!
I think she needed the auger to get a better reach on digging the holes to put in the garlic 🧄🧄

Morning all from Southern Illinois zone 6.
Beautiful sunny brisk fall day with the high in lower 60’s.
Out I go to plant some bulbs today and put a few hostas and heucheras from pots before the cold comes.
What a charming shot going through the dahlia beds where the path is basically non-existent. It’s like a meadow of beauty surrounding you!
"Let me show you a couple of my favourite dalhias"....62 varieties later 🤣🤣 lol
Your thumbnail looks like a Monet painting. Beauty and peace. ❤😊 That's what a garden grows.

Wow raspberries in October! We have a 2 week harvest in July and that’s it😢. You are so lucky to live where you do.
Hey Laura no matter what my day has been going I Always look forward to your videos.
How is your hoselink system holding up?
good evening everyone! looking forward this channel every night, even the first scene is already a rainbow of flowers...
With the amount of honey bee activity in your gardens, I wonder if a beekeeper would like to “Rent” a corner on the new property?
A bit confused as to watering in the garlic? If it's a bulb due to come up in spring. Do you water it all the way through?
Oh my 😮😮😮😊😊💓🌸 what a dream to be surrounded by so many beautiful flowers. They're so beautiful. 😍 great to see how garlic is planted. Those raspberries look yummy
How beautiful it would be if you could plant some of your dahlias in your garden beds to add colour……their individuality and beauty get lost a bit being planted in one big crowded bed.
The view over the dahlias to the garden flower shed looks so lovely. I'm always impressed how you remember all the names of the varieties you have and seeing the many varieties in one garden.
Good morning everyone , I love the flowers they are so beautiful.
Good morning all have a safe and blessed day ❤️
Good morning!! I learn so much from you Laura!! 💜💜
QUESTION : How long does it take fall gold raspberry starts to produce fruit? 🎃🍁🍂💚🙃
Central Texas is hard to grow Dahlias. 🙁I love Dahlias.. I keep trying.
Great video oh my you got lots of lovely fruit picked today.. And your dahlias are just so beautiful and tall. Just a beautiful inspiring video today.
BEAUTIFUL FRUIT, YUMMY YUMMY 😋 PEACE AND PEACE WITH BLESSINGS TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY 🙏 ❤ LOVE YOUR CHANNEL ❤
Good evening people😊❤🇵🇭
I am going to plant garlic this year for the first time.
Use Google Lens to identify the unknown dahlias.
The cut flower garden is breathtaking. I really enjoy seeing it.
Those dahlias are looking so beautiful! I’ve had the same experience of ordering a mix or even specific tubers and the wrong ones coming up. Always pretty but a bit of a disappointment. I’m glad you got a happy surprise!
Excellent video🌹🌹😮😮❤❤
Thank you for all the information and tips on growing garlic. Question: How much water do you give them? Do you keep them moist? Do they need to dry out in between watering? Those dahlias are gorgeous! The good thing for your viewers is that through your garden, we can see what each look like to know what we would want for our garden. I imagine most people don't have that many. That is a lot of work! But absolutely beautiful!
The Dahlias are beautiful ! So , much color 💗💜🏡
What a productive day. Thanks for taking us along.
Question--Have you thought a changing your profile pictures 4 times a year for the changing seasons? Since the picture that's there doesn't exist anymore?
I am so impressed by Laura's work ethic and knowledge. ❤ It is so refreshing
Such gorgeous Dalias! I was like, “where’s Laura?” It is amazing to see the amount of fruit you are getting in October. Great video!
How do you get the bulbs? Can you go the to grocery store and buy the bulbs out of produce or is it a bulb that is bought through a garden center?
Garden centers have them. I actually saw packaged ones at Walmart a couple of weeks ago. And yes, you can plant garlic purchased from the grocery store.
