  • In the annals of rock history and Fender history, one artist towers above all others; a figure whose name invokes a sense of musical reverence.
James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (1942-1970) is universally hailed as one of the greatest electric guitarists in the history of rock, if not the greatest, and one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century. Innovative and enigmatic, he pioneered an explosive new role for the electric guitar in the 1960s over the course of a meteoric career that was as musically adventurous as it was all too brief.

What sets Jimi apart from other guitar players are his songwriting skills. Other guitarists might be great guitar players but they can't stack up to Jimi's songwriting.

I Love James Marshall Hendrix..His music, his message, his integrity. He seemed so honest with his music and so humble with just a little bit of cheeky chappy in his eye. I was born a few months after the tragic day of his material death but his music and message will always be current and live on..The story of life is quicker than a wink of an eye, the story of love is hello and goodbye until we meet again. Peace

Although I had been playing guitar for 2 or 3 years,it was when I first heard Jimi's "Are You Experienced?" album that I really became obsessive about playing guitar and often spent up to and over 10 hours a day diligently practicing and also trying to figure out Jimi's incredible riffs and the incredible unearthly tones he was able to wrench from the guitar.Of course nobody could ever hope to be able to create the magic that Jimi did with his playing,I did however spend many years playing covers of his songs to keep his memory alive, more than any other reason. The main thing that I got from Jimi and his music, that was more important than being able to emulate his riffs etc. was that by being so deeply touched by his music,I discovered the conduit that flows from the soul to the fingers-that's worth more than a million spectacular riffs.I believe it was Eric Clapton who put it best by saying: "Jimi was a gift,he stayed with us a while and then went back with the other gods." That's pretty good accolades, considering who it came from.

If the legacy lives on, why don´t you start investing in left handed guitars?

While I do love Jimi's songs and guitar playing, I still think Rory Gallagher was even better, as Jimi said about Rory; Rory playing, writing, singing, showing, evolving and lasting until health made him pay for 30 years of gigging! I wish you to have a chance to play the Strat Custom Shop Rory Gallagher to feel the emotion!

If he had a mentor or wife like Ozzy has, then JH would be alive today and doing fine, but nobody seem to care about this person,so he or someone took his life....

I swear they released one back in '99 (30th anniversary of Woodstock). It was a clone of the white strat he played at Woodstock, only oriented right handed (left handed body and neck strung right handed).
