Wow, just the way BB said "and I never did get a chance to speak with him again" was so sad...
Michael Harvill ....... Just.... No, I'm gonna let you work that one out on yer own, mate.
Michael Harvill Oh, don't be so bitter now, sweetie. You know I didn't mean it.
+matt short I'm not sure if that's true. There's a youtube recording of Jimi jamming WITH B.B. King.
yeah go cry over that
Jimi showed respect to those he learned from Buddy, BB and even Mike Bloomfield. He never tried to show them up like he did others (Clapton). Although he didn't mean any disrespect he just wanted to show them how good he was. They knew.
Jimi Hendrix, BB King and Buddy Guy. What I would do to be in the same room with all 3 of those guys at once.
I would probably cry
Trashy Channel I would definitely cry
@John Days They're not just people to him, they're most likely his idols, and in my opinion they are very well Legendary people. Stop it, please stop it sir. You must be fun at parties.
@John Days ..... Appreciating greatness is valid.
@John Days not really. Its just an excuse for anti social people to stay in their basements
BB and Jimi are jamming together right now...
Jonathan Gomez trueee :-)
God bless them both
No they are not. They are awaiting the Great White Throne Judgement. They may be in a place like Lazarus. Read the Bible. Do not spread myths.
Nope, they're dead. The Big Sleep. Taking the dirt nap. You live, then you die. Move on.
Thomas Pick amen
My Father met Jimi at Madison Square Garden in 1969. The entire encounter probably lasted 15 seconds. He shook my Dad’s hand and my Dad said he was very humble, had huge long thin fingers, smiled at my Dad and less than a year later he was gone.
RIP Jimi.
Even the sound of BB's voice is bluesy !
LOL..
Haha - know what you mean...
Kamy GG it indeed is :))
Kamy .! Clever observation ...*
"who the hell is Jimi Hendrix, get outa my damn way"......"he went to work on it and I said maybe I should know you" Wow, that is so cool. Can you imagine being there for their first meeting!
Not only that imagine the looks on their faces when he played I mean hendrix got Clapton to walk off stage cause it shocked him how good he was
He said they were saying, "Be cool, Buddy!" Lol
There's a clip on UA-cam somewhere of this.
This have to be one of my favorite story ever ahaha
Buddy guy is such a cool cat xD
I keep coming back to this video from time to time
Two greats talking about a great. If B.B. King says you were a nice person, you were a nice person.
BubbaZen10 I met BB King. He was kind of a dick.
and I met him at Montreux Jazz Festival, early 80's. He was polite and an absolute gentleman.
These 3 resposes are EXACTLY why you cant believe anything you read on the internet. Yeah your 12 second fucking interaction with another human beings says everything about them right? LOL im kind of a dick sometimes and polite other times as well. How about you dolts? Jesus lol
@@brianwilliams5662 thank you
@@brianwilliams5662 ....TRUTH. !*
Jimi Hendrix was the most inspirational guitarist to have ever lived. Beyond words and music, it was pure emotion. You dont listen to Jimi you feel it.
Man, just think of the stories Jimi could tell if he were here today
I feel like jimi wouldn't like to tell stories.
"man I'm not worried about that stuff, it's all about now and what we are gonna do today"
or something like that I bet
you just gave me goosebumps.
you gotta be a magician.
Just think if Jimi and Stevie Ray Vaughan were both still around. I guess the world wasn't ready for that much guitar virtuosity at the same time.
Someone needs to start taking some LSD and riffing.
Don't worry i'm working on it ;)
that last line that bb says. you can hear just how much he respected hendrix, how much he regrets never being able to speak with him again
BB's memory is innacurate. They did meet at least one more time in april 68. ua-cam.com/video/Uc2-6-9TlJ4/v-deo.html
Im sure they exchanged a few words.
BB King is a freak of nature. The guy has to be around 80 in this video and he's as sharp as someone 50 years younger.
I was thinking the same thing too.
Buddy, too! he would have been, what, 73 here? and he's very sharp as well. it's a bit impressive, the both of them.
Years of good living!
Except for the part where he forgot which way round a left-handed guy would hold a guitar, that was a funny little lapse.
shizzy35 black don't crack man...
Nice seeing the men Jimi respected giving back the respect.
Have you heard the hendrix gig where he asks the crowd which blues legends they like and then he plays a short lick in their style? I love it. He was a scholar.
@@theinternetkilledmusic2054 Got a link for that? I'd love to see/listen to that stuff!
@@moose6182 I can't find that online but it is on the Jimi Hendrix Experience 4 Disk Box Set. It is on disk 2 where he asks the audience if they know Mississippi and asks if they know Muddy Waters and he plays a short lick in Muddy style, and then he asks if they know John Lee Hooker and he plays a short lick from him and then he plays a cover of Catfish Blues in Jimi style but you can hear the influence from all those guys. Great cover. There are also some recordings of him playing session before he became famous. He played with a lot of blues legends but wanted to branch out.
@@sabbracadabra8367 Thanks! I'll look it up :)
I got a good question for you Laurel, just your opinion, Michael Jackson had been know to have guitarist such as Van halen and Slash appear on his album, my question for you, if Jimi was still alive during that time , do you think Michael would have asked him to appear on any of his albums
Two legends discussing another legend, RIP Jimi & B.B.
Two legends sitting next to each other talking about another legend they knew. What a world.
I had the pleasure of seeing both Buddy and BB live at different times. I am blessed.
Yes, you are, Bro.
Buddy: "Trying to get some attention mostly"
BB: "You did"
That's some damn respeck!!
Legends talking about legends. Gives me goosebumps
When you do anything, so much, and with so much passion, you get in "the Zone", be it music, basketball, golf... They guys were beyond players.
Rip King.
Rip The King, RIP my guitar hero Hendrix.

Jimi was pretty damn blues...listen to his track "Red House"... damn, that song is sick with the blues
ua-cam.com/video/fNLTGgPL6V4/v-deo.html
that's my favourite jimi hendrix song, every single version he ever played is amazing
@Joshua Dowling waiting on the train...your right! Absolutely the best of the blues. But then especially on the rehearsal tracks Jimi really didn't want you to hear he unleashes some of the best hard rock soloing ever done. Still make my hair on my back stand up every time.
People are so cruel. I love these men. They are amazing and I still enjoy hearing them play.
I love BBs Voice even just speaking.
Jimi was a phenomenal guitarist by any standards in the Cosmos. It was hard to believe he was playing the same instrument as other guitarists - it sounded so very different. The first time I saw him, like BB, was as Little Richard's guitarist. As I recall he just sat on his amp and strummed along in a fairly pedestrian manner... he looked very unassuming - almost embarrassed to be there. But Buddy really opened my eyes to what blues guitar was capable of - no wonder Beck calls him God!
It's nice to see Buddy looking so good and in good shape. I remember seeing him out on Yonge St. in Toronto back in the 70s. He used to come to Toronto quite often and I saw him and Junior Wells at the Brunswick House back then. He was a very cool dude and, at the time probably in the top two or three electric players in the world. The man has a PhD. in the blues.
He played near my town a few years back, & I was blown away. First off, his band was incredible by themselves, & he walked out & all around in the crowd, even up to the top of the bleacher seats I was sitting in, all the while playing brilliantly. Never seen anything like that live. I respect & appreciate the Hell out of blues music, but I don't listen often to it, but Buddy's blues are an exception, he's one of a relative few that can truly make his guitar sing or cry like it's a living, breathing organism. Again, I was mesmerized watching & listening to him play.
Jimi asked it best "Will the wind ever remember the names it has blown in the past?"
If you get the chance to see Buddy Guy live you won't be disappointed he puts on a hell of a show and he sings and plays the most wailing blues you've heard
still true 11 years later. just saw him again last week and he is still bringing it. seeing him again in October, can't wait!
@@bryanmannoia8410 Great to hear he is still killing it at 86 years old
Just saw him in France last weekend. Still the best bluesman you can see on a stage. I'm still mind blown by the show he gave
Jimi,Buddy and BB all gentleman of music.
I remember the 1st time I heard Buddy Guy. I'd just got a license
was driving late at night and his
'Smell A Rat" came on. Might've
been live version. Blew me away
and I thought to myself had Jimi
lived, he might sound something
like this. I had to pull over and an
hour later I'd heard yes the whole
Live Buddy Album they'd played!!
Thank you B.B. And Lucille for making our ears and hearts know what love really is. Sweet dreams America's king of the Blues
Legends talking about another legend and unlike artists now they don't speak better of themselves . Respect.
"maybe I should know you then ". Hilarious.
I saw B.B. King play in Tuzla, Bosnia, 1996. That cat played his ass off, after Bon Jovi cancelled because they thought it was too dangerous
that's cool
“Stevie Ray Vaughn is dead, and they can’t get Jon Bon Jovi on a helicopter.” - Denis Leary, stealing Bill Hicks’ joke.
Saw him in NOLA, the man knew how to perform for an audience. And almost impossible to imitate unless your timing, bends, and vibrato are spot on.
Happy birthday, Buddy Guy! Watch the blues legend reminisce about his early days in the music business B.B. King and Buddy Guy on Meeting Jimi Hendrix on SIRIUS XM Radio
Rip The King, RIP my guitar hero Hendrix.

2 kings of blues talking about a king of blues rock
big phil...Jimi was all about the blues!
Buddy and B.B. are men that have pioneered a genre that is just as familiar sounding, as it is riveting. These are the true kings of the blues and I can only imagine Jimi's adoration when he met them. B.B met him at a time where Jimi was so shy and quiet. "He didn't drink or smoke then." People always thought of Hendrix as this wild man but that was him performing. Not long prior to Buddy meeting him, he had been the back up band member who didn't even have the courage to sing. Thank God for Chas Chandler taking him to England and promoting him. If not for him, Jimi wouldn't have even gotten big in the states.
Your dad was very honoured . I was only 9 years old when he left us . I was introduced to his music when I was 18 years old and followed him ever since
Great men. And great sense of humor. I've seen Buddy in concert twice, and he had such great energy. Sad I couldn't see BB! Another great inspiration.
Yes, I was lucky enough to be a young lad and my Dad took me down to Olympic Studios in Barnes. Met Jimi there and had a short but nice chat with him and he was such a nice guy. Shame later on my Dad who was also friends with Charlie Watkins (WEM) saw him with Jimi but I never got there.
Oh the good old days
Jimi and Prince.....love them much!
We'll be missing you King BB. Love you, Sir.
There is a kind of sadness in BB's voice when he's speaking of Jimi... Maybe regretting not having been around him more.
SO WONDERFUL,TO SEE BUDDY AND BB
TOHETHER,TWO LEGENDS,TWO MASTERS.
RIP BB and Jimi🕯🕯🙏
God bless you Buddy i hope you turn over hundred years old, fill the world with the light of your music🎼🎸🎙🙏
I always tell this story about Buddy Guy. I was bar hopping Rush street in Chicago. If you've ever been there, you know what i'm talking about. I ended up in this little club, at the bar, next to this black guy. I commented how he looked like Buddy Guy, and he smiled and said "Yeah, I get that alot" I said "well, anyone who looks like him I will buy a drink" And I did. We talked, and five minutes later, he got up from his break, went back up on stage and finished his set. It WAS Buddy! lol
I remember thinking I had a handle on the blues until I saw B.B. play live in 1997. I realized I was completely out of my depth, the tone and soul he had coming from Lucille and a single Combo amp mic'd into the house P.A. was staggering. B.B. was pure genius - unmatched.
I once heard an old blues man say: "It gotta be in ya before it can come outta ya." They were a product of everything they experienced and everything they learned. This world may spin around a billion more years, but it won't ever come back by this spot. Treasure what we were privileged to have.
@@dpatrick5164 Amen, Bro.
RIP BB King
Legends talking about another legend.
I would love to meet B.B. And Buddy one day, they are some of my biggest heroes!
lol "Be cool dude!"
I met and interviewed BB in the 1970's, and have seen Buddy play live, but never got the chance to see Jimi play in concert. I was certain that I would eventually get to see Jimi play live, and then he was gone. RIP to both men.
two of the legends, everyone needs to know these dudes
Love you Lucille & B.B. King! Godspeed to you both.
THANKS!! This was such a real conversation between two greats discussing the greatest on of all.
Jeez, can you imagine sitting in the same room with these two titans of music. I would have not been able to compose myself. That's BB king and Buddy Guy.
I love watching this interview because it’s just amazing how legends meet and then they go on and never meet eachother again
“I had had a couple shots” hell yeeeee
I always thought Buddy carried on the Jimi Hendrix torch for blues, the way he approaches it. I imagine if Jimi were still around, he'd be sounding a lot like Buddy Guy.
case in point ua-cam.com/video/1ezannMxb7s/v-deo.html
Robin Trower man ..
BB said that he never spoke to Jimi again after meeting him that one time in Mobile while Jimi was playing in Little Richard's band. He must have forgotten that they jammed together at place in NYC in 1968 called The Generation Club with Paul Butterfield's band. There are recordings of it. BB King introduces the guys that were playing, they did some covers and jammed on the blues for over an hour.
Tearing up when hearing these legends speak about Jimi.
i'm a blessed guy. i saw them alive here in brazil.
well, you'd not see them dead, in Brazil; since they didn't die there. LOL but, I get what you mean... peace...
BB and Buddy are forever Captains of the USA Guitar Team
Love both Buddy and B.B. Kings Music and The Thrill will never be gone.
Saw Buddy in 2008 and will never forget when I heard the thrill is gone on the radio when it first came out. There Rock musics inspirational foundation .
Great fun to see both these men multiple times. Can’t ever deny these legends!
Love how B.B king double checks which way a left handed guitar is held 🤣
Legendary Awesomeness!
Thank You ; )
This is truly something to behold. Wow. Thank you for capturing this for posterity
These are the types of interview that are gold, just telling it like it happened and there thoughts, I think every big name needs to do this, we would learn so much more
So cool. Man if you're a guitar player this is so awesome.
I met Jimi on March 15th, 1968. (yes, "The Ides of March!!!) I was barley legal...just turned 18. We continued our friendship beyond that night. I was hanging with him when he did that HUGE memorial jam for Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. at The Generation Club in Greenwich Village, NYC. He told me about Buddy at that time, but I'm sure if he had met him yet...only that if I wanted to get into the blues (and I did) that Buddy Guy was someone I should listen to....
Wow to share the same air with a legend like that is something but to be friends with one is a whole other thing. Do you have any other stories that you remember from those days?
I saw Buddy Guy in Sydney Australia and he was amazing, he was like BB, Jimi and any other guitarist all rolled into one. Truly awe inspiring.
Legends discussing a legend of the good old days. Priceless
Miss my bud, Mr. B.B.K.. R.I.P. .
I wish they were my grAndPa's could listen to them all day lol
I saw Buddy performing live here in Uruguay one time and I would like to thank him for that show. Mindblowing, player and singer as well, such a nice person, he walk of stage with a wireless guitar and stand surounded by the expectators ...incredible experience, what a musician.
Thank you Buddy.
I got to meet BB. He played "you are my sunshine" to me and my mom. She used to pull me around in a little wagon on our farm and sing that to me.
I've love BB King. and if him and my husband was to stand side-by-side they could pass as twins my husband wasn't musician also! he was a drummer for almost 40 some years. Before he passed. he did he loved BB King just as well. so I know both of them are out there having a good time playing music LOL!!!!!!
Way to make it about yourself. No one came here to read about your husband. Famous people go to a different heaven than regular people anyway...
Great interview clip with two of the greats. Who on earth could possibly "dislike' this?
Justin Bieber and his flock of sheep I expect....
A truly wonderful series, You and Me and B.B. King. These three episodes were amazing with Buddy and B, and Bill Wax hostingmade everyone feel like flies on the wall. Thanks so much
B.B King and Jimi Hendrix my two guitar heros together in a room talking is the coolest thing I've ever heard in my life
Buddy Guy looks about 30 years younger than his actual age...
BE COOL DUDE.
Two of the BEST EVER Guitar Players and Two of My Favorites !
I was lucky enough to tour supporting BB and Buddy. So I got to meet and talk with them. BB is so sweet and gracious... Buddy 'l cutcha(we joked)... If only I coulda met Jimi. 2 outta these three aint bad...
Encontro épico! Gostaria muito de ver ou ouvir alguma gravação!
Ojalá y lo tradujeran al español, soy fan de estos monstruos del Blues.
I just realize that I saw this about 6-7 times in a row. Got mesmerize listening these to legends talking about legend.

RIP BBKing
Love to hear these stories. Could listen to stuff like this for hours.
Three great pioneer guitar players. Jimi, Buddy, B.B.! Love those guys.
bb lived to 89 years old Chuck berry 90...🎶🎵 better keep your guitars🎸🎸
2:37 B.B. says he asked Jimi when he realized Jimi was a lefty, "Why didn't you change the strings?"
B.B. must have been confused between Jimi and Albert King because Albert King who was also a lefty was the one who dIdn't change the strings from right handed to left handed. Jimi did change the strings.
@God Love he could play it with the strings upside down. That's how he originally learnt it was only later that he did switch the strings around, here's a video with rolling stones n him picking up a strung up righty guitar flipping it and playing just fine. ua-cam.com/video/Rqqaw9iN0Js/v-deo.html
I got to see him in Atlantic City, NJ in 2004, and in Lansing, MI in 2006. He was totally awesome both times. He ran through the audience both times with a wireless pick-up on his guitar as he jammed and improvised!
both seem so proud of him
B.B. said Jimi didn't change strings to left-handed ?
That's a common myth. Jimi DID change the strings over to left-handed !
Look closely at pictures and the low E is at top... just like right-handed players.
Also I go to the EMP a lot in seattle and his Woodstock guitar is there (and others) and all are strung for left-handers.
just saw this clip and wondered the same thing. I've corrected many people who say Hendrix played a right handed guitar without changing the strings around. Every video I've seen debunks that, I wonder why BB said that?
Dunno... even in old pics of Jimi with "...the Flames" (?)... if you look closely you can see low E at top.
Because he could play both ways. It didn't matter if the guitar was configured for right handed or left handed people. Just goes to show how good he was.
buddinmaplestory buddinmaplestory - I did some googling and found some posts to back up what you're saying. I am pasting here: James Marshall Hendrix was naturally left-handed but his father, Al, initially tried to force the young James to play right-handed. Al Hendrix reportedly believed playing left-handed was a sign of the devil. Why so? It has its roots in language. “Sinister”, in ancient Latin, means “left” and also “unlucky” - in modern times someone “sinister” is un-trusted or even evil. These linguistic oddities persist. “Right” means “correct” in English, obviously. In French, “gauche” means both “left” and “awkward.” So, even in language, left-handers get a bum deal.
Jimi Hendrix tended to write right-handed - there are photos of Jimi signing autographs and writing lyrics right-handed. And Jimi did learn to play guitar right-handed, as demanded by his father Al. Jimi modified his first (right-handed) guitars for his natural leftism - restringing and changing the nut. But when Al was around, he felt he had to play a right-handed guitar simply flipped over (treble E at the top). So Jimi taught himself to be “both-handed.”
Free’s Paul Kossoff, when he was a young guitar salesman in London, once recalled Jimi circa 1967 trying a guitar in the shop where Koss worked, and simply flipping it over so the treble E was closest to his face. And Hendrix still played brilliantly. Maybe all this explains why Jimi could play just about anything on the guitar?
Dennis Parrish Gary Moore was left-handed, but learned to play right-handed, and continued to play right-handed all the way through his life. Some say that was part of the reason he had so much control and strength in his fretwork, and why his pick hand position always seemed a bit odd, compared to what we normally see.
Then Jimi would have made a video, "On meeting B.B. King.. :) "
Rip BB listen to your music almost everyday
Thanks you tube.Priceless!
I didn't know Hendrix played upside down!!! I always thought he restrung his guitar for a left hand player!
William Seroyer He did, but according to BB he could play it either strung properly or literally upside down.
William Seroyer no, his guitar was upndown, stringing was standard
john pshitek He could do it all man lol once he got big and could afford stuff he always played regularly stringed but I read this biography on him where people are quoted saying that he could play a guitar left handed or right handed and just flip a guitar over with upside down strings and play it just as good.
Travis Gooden Yes indeed !!, Jimi knew the Guitar inside-out, there are many people who have witnessed Jimi play upside-down, right handed & every other way, He was ambidextrous like many Genius' are, Peace.
+MrJeditwinz Wow..that's something.
