    I would like to see a little more of the cast or presentation before the catch. Particularly when you are using a cork or fishing around cover. Not so much when you are casting to open water. People like to see a cork go under! We can't help it. :0)

    Richard, I just can't get enough of your videos. I watch every one of them. Love the tips you hand out and seeing you catch the big slabs. I even ordered some slab sauce. The sauce works good for large mouth to. But I've been having trouble catching the crappies. Might be just a little early for my area. I don't have a boat so I have to find a good technique.

    Always love hearing that bell when you upload a new video.. been doing alot of crappie fishing here in Central Texas on hand tied jigs that I make up myself and have been putting the hammer down on them. Like you though only keep a few when I'm hungry for some fresh fish. Like the catfishing videos you do, but in these parts I prefer slip cork fishing for them with homemade punch bait.

    Richard, can you show us how you spool your reels? I always get so much line twist even after trying a few different methods. I love your channel!

    • @Z71Ranger
      @Z71Ranger 6 років тому

      If you spool your reel with line... Then tie the line to something and walk back as far as you can and stretch the line hard 3 or 4 good hard pulls... Then lay the rod down and walk back to where you tied it off at and cut it loose... Then leave the line loose on the ground... Then walk back to the rod and hold the line in your fingers and reel it back up nice and tight it want have ant twist in it... Also when you cast out always close the bail with your hand... Never reel the reel to close the bail because it will put one twist in your line every time you cast... At the end of the day that could be 2 or 3 hundred twist from all the casting...
      . You can stretch the line you have on your reel now following the instructions above... Give this a try and let me know how it works for you..

    • @Addicted2outdoors
      @Addicted2outdoors 6 років тому

      Z71Ranger I have never heard of this technique before Z71Ranger. Thanks for taking the time to type all that out. I will definitely try that.

    • @mikej9089
      @mikej9089 6 років тому +2

      Make sure it comes off the spool exactly as it is going on your reel. Do Not have someone hold spool on pencil and roll it out forward like tp. That is only good for Bait Caster Reels. It must come off side ways in direction you are reeling.

    • @mycodclipz9754
      @mycodclipz9754 6 років тому

      Addicted2outdoors Remember to soak the spool of line you are gonna use 2 or 3 days prior to putting the line on,it will eliminate all the twists.Good luck

    The crappie and the weather changes have Gene, Elmo and everyone scratching their head.
    I noticed they bit the same color plastic white/chartreuse no matter the water clarity.
    And Gene, for an old man you still got those quick reflexs, boy did you jump when that carp splashed when you tried to grab it, lol.
