Only mountain climbers have truly experienced “the sphincter factor”!!! ☁️🥾☁️ Congratulations! Appeared to be a sphincter factor of about 6. If I may….. 1. Always carry water and gatorade or something to provide anti-cramping. 2. Wear your helmet man! 3. Whoever is “leader/ guide”, Never leave that much distance! Psychological trauma can be just as bad as physical. 4. Always have a pair of thin gloves! 5. Always carry peak chocolate, it’s why we climb! 😁
I used to love a ridge walk....half done most of the Munros and while doing that took in as many ridge walks as I could......now the fear gets me even on a gentle slope, can't look over battlements of castles.......think its an age thing. Unfortunately, it just came on over a few years Your video had me gripping the chair arms.....but.... Thanks for sharing..... Even if I had to look away😮
Thanks for the comment! My first time I was a shaking mess. It was nice to be able to help someone else this time. I knew what that fear felt like. Back there on Sunday to go again 🤣
I love mountain climbing im 60 but i wont attempt crib goch. Im envious of anyone that can do it im in awe but i know my limits. I couldnt do Tryvan either. Welldone to you🎉
There's a first time for everything. It's good that there was an experienced climber there. I remember doing Striding Edge in thick fog with an aluminium frame rucksack. That got the pulse racing.
I was terrified watching this but I tried to take consolidation in knowing that you survived. I forced myself to watch to the end but ... the end never came. Where was the trig pillar or the drink in a pub or the slumping into a car seat.
Best not to consider a place that kills on average every six months a "walk in the park." Complacency kills even the best... e.g., a lot of expert free-soloers have fallen on a familiar climb. Thanks for sharing this footage! Seeing that drop reminds me of places I've been where to fall is to die, but Crib Goch is so very long and steep.
Ha, good old Crib Goch. Been over there a few times, all in different weather. Any first timers attempting this, I would stick to the left-hand side of the ridge, becif you do slip, there's a good chance of stopping yourself. Slip on the right-hand side, then it's usually good bye. Reason being, the right hand side is so much steeper.
Years ago the party I was with had to assist a couple who had become stuck fast on the ridge. Its a pretty daunting drop, and I can see why it can be a challenge. The party I was with were all much more experienced climbers with a lot of rock climbing and winter routes under our belts, so a couple of us scrambled past, and with one of us on each side for reassurance, they managed to get across. I have no idea how long they had been stuck for, but they were very happy to get to the easier going on the other side. Lovely footage. Still a few small pockets of snow here and there I see.
I enjoy mountain climbing but Crib Goch is in a different league I haven't the confidence and know my limits. I envy anyone who climbs this Ridge. I'm petrified just looking at it. Well done🎉
Well done. Lovely ridge. Great in winter as well with the right gear. Try the Aonach Eagach. Same applies, summer or winter, never disappoints. And the Clachaig Inn at the end for a well deserved pint!!
Well done! Not easy conquering the ‘head’. You managed that with great skill and showed that this expedition was well within your group’s collective ability in these conditions. Enjoying that position, the view and the achievement together is something most may not ever know. 🎉
You have always have you think hard about weather changes on Crib Goch.. if it had rained and the rock was slippery this could have been Very serious. I don't get this desire to video everything. Enjoy the mountains the views.. the sensations. You will remember it. The last I did Crib Goch was as the final stretch of the 14 peaks. My partner and I were so lucky.. we had a glorious clear day.. travelling light... so much to enjoy. You never forget it. Good luck with your next trip.
@@CharlesPerrett-q3x, we video our journeys on ‘just for the weekend van life’ to create memories for ourselves (hardly anyone watches us!) We have said when we’re too old to do what we do anymore, we have a bank of videos we can watch to relive our memories!
Holy Shitake Mushroom... now that's a nibble. Thanks for sharing... very cool. Beautiful views. Rocks not loose, I guess? Great job men, and women just didn't see any. 👴
Darren -- Crib Goch is not for the faint-hearted. In windy conditions, I would definitely avoid. Arêtes and me do not gel! There is a better way to enjoy climbing in my view. The brave thing to do is to say this part is not for me. I will tab out thank you -- and live to fight another day.
The last time i just watched Videos of K2 and Annapurna 1 (less videos). Now this seems like kindergarden for me although i clearly know that it is not.
Crib Goch is much easier than it looks… But its’s stupid to take beginners up there… Saying that, I took 3 or 4 girlfriends up there and they all handed it very well! ❤

First time, in age of 45 I did Grib Goch walking on the top of the ridge. 17 years later I did it again crawling along the ridge .
Well done! Great effort
@@mountain_man_darren thank you 🙂

Thank you! I used to crawl along anything like this, but over time I’ve gotten much better 🙂

You can’t neglect the danger for sure. I now a lad that’s fallen there and it’s awful. These places deserve respect and that can keep you safe

I appreciate him pointing out 'there's handholds all the way' but that's still making a very big assumption about how much i trust my own hands!!
Hahahaha. Actual lol at that 👏

Sounds like you did a great thing that day. Well done. Love how people are always willing and ready to help fellow hikers. Great community

I’m there again on Sunday 🙂
You've put me off doin it,cheers fella😂walked up the miners yesterday, sayin that north ridge tryfan scramble as a novice was scary in the fog👍
My daughter wants me to do this with her but at 53 my fear is too high now😂...at 20 like her i would have. Too much for me I'm afraid. Well done sir!
I was terrified of this ridge for years but I built up to it. This was my second time. The first time I was shaking like a Leaf
From a local hill walker hering the fear in your breathing you did brilliantly to carry on and not get stuck due to fear ❤🎉
Cheers my friend! Its a walk in the park for a lot of people but it still gets me every time haha

You’re better than me , big fella .. There’s no amount of money that could get me up there. I can barely get past the 3rd floor of a bldg
I did it once in military.... never again

Quality basalt! I can only imagine how cold your hands were..
It's rhyolite

I cannot stop watching these Crib Goch videos but I'm too much of a pussy to do it 😂 you're a braver man than me mate! well done.

My idea of hell 🙉
That's irresponsible to do with beginners. One wrong step...
steep learning curve!
amazing landscape ❤
Must be worse climbing with a heavy rucksack. 🤔
Definitely not for me that. I love a good view but I'd shit it up there .
Not worth the risk!

Surely not at the same time
You said it's Stupid to take beginners there , yet you take beginners there , bit stupid aren't you?
