I just did this a couple days ago. No scrambling experience before this. I started down Pyg a 100 yards and turned around. I made up my mind and went for it. I was by myself and terrified the whole way. Things get real when turning around isn’t an option and I regretted my decision many times. I made it through and learned so much about myself. One of the greatest and most terrifying experiences of my life
I had i very unexpected encounter on Crib Goch back in the early 1960s. Set off from Pen y Pas early and was at the start of the knife edge before seeing anyone. Half way along i could hear someone approaching from the summit directions. For you youngsters - in those long distant days - you could hear people in their nailed boots for quite some distance ! The mist had taken away most of the view so i sat down and waited for someone to appear. Out of the mist came an older gentleman confidently striding along puffing on a pipe. As we exchanged pleasantries i was asstonished to see a Siamese cat appear and start rubbing himself on our legs. The older gent informed me that she always ventured into the mountains with him, was very happy on Crib Goch and had only once, when it was very icy, had to take refuge in his old Bergen. He informed me that puss had completed the Snownon Horseshoe many times and had even been to the top of Tryfan. We parted as he was walking back to Capel Curig where he was staying and wanted to have a bath before his dinner !😢
I have walk up Snowden on 3 occasions now and used the miners / Pyg track. I do suffer with vertigo and would never go near Crib Goch. Someone once said to me “ you don’t have to have had a near death experience to have had an adventure “ Sound advice that was! Great footage and editing all the same.
The shots of the clouds cascading over the ridges brought back so many memories of climbing in Wales 40 years ago. Nothing has changed. Except for the technology for filming it, the extra safety provided by mobile phones, the clothing, the cafe... Thanks for braving it for us so we could enjoy it vicariously!
Absoulely no problem at all! Thanks for coming along with me and sharing your memories! The clouds were mesmerizing to watch! I sat and had lunch with them :D

And I feel that I should also apologise to you, Jack. You see, I'm not the delightful Denise. I am, in fact, a 60-year-old bloke called Graham from Wakefield and I was employed by the Yorkshire Building Society to infiltrate your channel and get trade secrets from you and Em. All our excursions and illicit reminiscences together were designed to gain your confidence. But you won me over with your disarming charm (or your discharming arm, I forget which), so your secrets are safe with me. However I will now have to lie low for a while to avoid the YBS hitmen. Fantastic as usual Jack! Glad that you enjoyed Crib mate and good advise to try and semi-partner up with another when soloing. Beautiful footage, nice editing and commentary, class man. Looking forward to your next video.
Good to see someone taking all possible precautions. Set off ultra early in midsummer - so maximum daylight. A dry day with very little wind. Anticipated and thought through how to stay safe whilst filming - hands free. Filming, and expensive equipment secondary to your safety. Buddied up on most dangerous section. Told others where you were going. Gained relevant fitness and experience on less demanding /dangerous routes prior to this. Used equipment and pack weight suitable for yourself and the challenge. Even doing all this, still challenging, still risky. Well done.
Brilliant!! My god that bring backs some memories. I'm glad you were able to land your drone you needed nerves of steel to do that. First time I climbed Crib Goch was with my dad, we climbed Snowden three times in a week each from different paths. I'm glad you teamed up with Chris, I see his comments. Well done to both of you. Great video, really enjoyed it Good luck from Spain!!
Hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed watching. That was awesome, stunning cinematography. Those shepherd's huts are great. Stopped in a few in the Yorkshire dales and fell in love with them. Plan on stopping in as many as I can. They all have such different character.

My story with Crib Goch... In 2007 I came to UK and lived in a shared house. One of the tenants suggested to go to Snowdonia and he took me and other mate. I didn't know what Snowdonia was and I never did any climbing in my life so I took a rucksack with a beer inside it and put tshirt , shorts and adidas trainers on. Long story short, I found myself on the vertical wall climbing up with my mates above me and pieces of rocks flying down and nearly hitting my head. I knew there was no way back and I had to go up. I was shit scared like them and I was just praying not to die. My trainers were just unsticking. I think we climbed the worst possible way as we reached the top somehow from the side of the edge. I remember after that climb I wasn't scared of heights anymore, I could just walk at the edge of the roof of empire state building and wouldn't bother lol That was the most stupid risky thing I did in my life
A couple of scout leaders took me and some others up and along Crib Goch when I was 14. I loved it! My parents were horrified. I am horrified now. If anyone took one of my teenagers along there without prior mountain experience, I’d kill then!

All the UK mainland ridge walks tend to look worse than they are until you're on them, and none are technically difficult, but the exposure can be scary to those who aren't used to it, or who don't like heights. I'm too old for it now, but before my health got the better of me, I found I had to go to increasingly remote places to escape the crowds. People have much more mobility these days, and that may tempt some to be too ambitious in their hillwalking adventures.

Great video 😁 I think I’m one of the people who mentioned the crib on one of your earlier videos sorry about pressuring you 😁 Loved doing the crib, and I’m hoping to do it again this year , just holding out for a new insta 360 x3 😁👍🏼
No probs Wilswood! I would of ended up doing it anyway i love these ridges. The comments from the previous video maybe got me to do it sooner though :D Stay safe out there mate! I also want to get a 360!
For me as a sport climber I found the climbing sections more exposed than the ridges did and was quite comfortable just walking along. Climbing up the slabs in places I was quite aware falling would be deadly. No way would I take someone else up who hasn't had a little bit of boulding or climbing experience before.
@@jackasnacks what drone do you use? I like that follow me feature. I chuckled when you said about it going in and out. All you need when balancing on a knife edge.
Excellent film Jack Crib I’d a beast especially the three pinnacles at the end of the ridge 🏔️ The footage was lush m8t (definitely worth sacrificing the drone for it if necessary 😱) Assuming you could of retrieved it ? The air BnB was lovely m8t 👍 did you get any sleep before the climb? I never do 🥹 All the best Simon 🤠👍🏔️
Well, I'm still firmly with Em here, Jack. No way. But kudos to you for going through with it, and I have no doubt that if you bailed, you would still have posted it. Great drone footage when it worked and first person. But I have to add that this is nothing. If you take the Welsh up on their dare, then I think you should hike 'The Stairway to Heaven' on Oahu in Hawaii. But I do have one complaint. Audi??? Why? Another great video Jack, thanks for sharing.
@jackasnacks I've no loyalty either. I had a Vauxhall Astra for about 10 years until it was going to cost more to get it through the MOT than what it was worth, so I upgraded. A bit. Mercedes GLC250D 4MATIC. Ex demo. 18 months old, 8k on the clock. First time I've ever had an automatic and would never go back now.
Hey Jack, how's it going mate. I saw your insta content when you went up there but then forgot to watch the vlog. Tbf you tube didn't feed it to me sadly but aim all caught up now. Great drone footage and vlog dude! I've plans to film up there myself but likely after the summer hols if not before. How far in advance did you book your air bnb. It's always put me off doing the Welsh peaks because I know parking is tough and booking something with unpredictable weather could end up in wasted money
Hey Alex sorry haven’t checked my notifications all week. Well a bit of insider knowledge here, 30 minutes after I uploaded this video, UA-cam went offline for a few hours which completely destroyed its chances at catching the algorithm. It effected a lot of videos at the time. The views it does have are just from people specifically checking my channel! I actually booked the air bnb the morning of the night I stayed. For doing a video I do recommend doing it on a week day and start at first light. The car park was empty around 630am so no stress but of course weather unpredictable. You really do need luck on your side. But I’m sure you will enjoy crib Goch it really is special
Yeah it was a situation! If you look up whilst stood on the floor, all seems fine, but if you stand on a computer chair and then look up, thats what it felt like trying to grab my drone out the air haha

I’m afraid of heights. I couldn’t even watch you making the climb on video! I tried….but wimped out!
My mum said the same thing lol!
That makes Cumbria look like a kiddies playground Jacky boy. Bloody well done lad. 😁
Ey up John lad didn't see your comment :)
Excellent video, won't be doing that on my crutches
Crib Goch is one of Britain's greatest and most accessible (needs zero training) natural adrenaline rushes.
Great channel you have bro interesting vids keep it up ❤️
Cheers Jude! Appreciate the kind words :D
Thank you Jack.
Best video yet mate
Cheers Goose!
Really nice job 👍
I was going to try this hike but I think it's out of my bounds I will just do the pyg track I think what drone do you use thanks
Fascinating!
Excellent film Jack Crib I’d a beast especially the three pinnacles at the end of the ridge 🏔️
The footage was lush m8t (definitely worth sacrificing the drone for it if necessary 😱)
Assuming you could of retrieved it ?
The air BnB was lovely m8t 👍 did you get any sleep before the climb? I never do 🥹
All the best Simon 🤠👍🏔️
The back of a dragon 🐉
Well, I'm still firmly with Em here, Jack. No way. But kudos to you for going through with it, and I have no doubt that if you bailed, you would still have posted it. Great drone footage when it worked and first person. But I have to add that this is nothing. If you take the Welsh up on their dare, then I think you should hike 'The Stairway to Heaven' on Oahu in Hawaii. But I do have one complaint. Audi??? Why? Another great video Jack, thanks for sharing.
hahahaha it has 4 wheels and gets me to the mountains i have no loyalty on cars :D
@jackasnacks it gets you there in style though.🕶😎😉
@jackasnacks I've no loyalty either. I had a Vauxhall Astra for about 10 years until it was going to cost more to get it through the MOT than what it was worth, so I upgraded. A bit. Mercedes GLC250D 4MATIC. Ex demo. 18 months old, 8k on the clock. First time I've ever had an automatic and would never go back now.
Fair fucking play for saving that drone! My scared ass would’ve left that 😂
Hey Jack, how's it going mate.
Da iawn Jack! 👏🏼🏴
Very good Giz Mo! :D
You need to come up to Scotland and do the Aonach Eagach ridge. Definitely harder and more technical than crib goch.
I literally can’t wait to do it. It’s on my to do list next time I’m offline from work. Going to stay the night somewhere or take my dads VW camper!
@@jackasnackscontinue up to the north west to Torridon and do Liathach and then on to An Teallach . They’ll put hairs on your chest
Fabulous achievement. I know I'll never do it, more's the pity.
"Very Well Done" young man.
Kin Jesus H.
Mate, that's terrifying. 😲
Yeah it was a situation! If you look up whilst stood on the floor, all seems fine, but if you stand on a computer chair and then look up, thats what it felt like trying to grab my drone out the air haha
Awesome jack 👏
Watching Dive Talk in prep :)
Glad Snowdonia proved to be King 🥰
Absolutely duperb ...
