Well done and thanks for the tips. I did Crib Goch a few days ago, loved it apart from coming down, it killed my knees and I'm still aching all over. I probably should have built up to it. I would do it again though in good conditions. Best mountain experience ever for me 😊
Congrats, nothing beats the buzz you get once you reach that summit huh, well done. As for knee pain, get yourself some quality knee braces…. They really help with knee pain on descents.
Love the channel Jake. I did Grib Gogh many years ago, and its definitely the toughest scramble I've done. I wasn't brave/stupid enough to walk along the sharpest part of the ridge and used my hands along the top and traversed slightly lower with my feet. My cousin walked along the top and got his foot stuck. If this happens to you, (anyone who happens to read this), please sit down to free it. Pulling your foot out of a hole in the wind, you can easily over balance and end up on the rocks many hundreds of feet below, I visualised him falling to his death and had to tell him to sit down to free it. Too much bravado on this route will get you killed. Having said that, its a great route if you are a competent scrambler, and one for the bucket list for sure. My advice for footwear would be something with a more solid sole. There are a lot of sharp rocks to walk over, and I wouldn't want to do it in any form of training shoe, but I guess its personal choice. We stupidly did it in February and it started snowing not long after we started the main ascent. Having previously only been up Snowdon in Spring, Summer and Autumn, we thought we might be able to get warm in the cafe at the top, only to find it is shut for the winter. We had flasks and food though and sheltered behind the cafe from the wind before descending on the easier route which goes back down to the same car park. 25 ish years on its still one of my fondest memories. Hope you manage some off roading bike trips soon. Interested to know where you are allowed to ride these days.
I did Crib Goch in 1983 as a 16yr old Junior Soldier, back then we used our army issued DMS BOOTS and old style woolen walking pants that was issued to us from the stores a T Shirt and an old windproof smock no fancy kit then lol
Great Video! However, hardest ridge in UK? Corrag Bhuidhe, Am Faserinan and Aonach Eagach are higher graded knife edge ridges, and then there's the Cuillins, the Inn Pinn itself is a graded rock climb by its easiest route. That aside, great video
Well done Guys, I waked it in 1972, now nudging 70 I only ever did it once, and never again , hardest walk scramble I ever did, I continued with my mountain walking in the UK well into my fifties and when asked if I would fancy giving it a go again I said NO, good to see you had the right gear with you, sadly when I did the walk as part of a large group, there was no UA-cam’s, no GoPros, in fact no internet, you both did very well, well done Mike, West Brom
Great to see you call out people not being prepared when going out in the mountains, when we went up Snowdon in September there were people in sandals, flip flops without waterproofs, water or any layers what so ever. Once we got to the summit it was a 45min que for the summit, totally nuts and ruined the whole trip of climbing the mountain. I have climbed Snowdon a number of times in the past and even done the Crib Goch route which you took. I totally agree you need to on your game for that route. Great video and well done for talking about the gear you took and wore while on the hike, it is so often overlooked, funny enough as you were going through your list i was like that's what i wear lol. Stay save out there Jake. See you soon.
Got to be done mate! Had the same harsh feeling hitting the top & seeing the train station! Massive anti climax! Sad really! But a great ridge! Hope ya well! See you soon guys!
I've climbed snowdon a couple of times now on the PYG and Miners, but wouldn't try Crib Goch! Going up the easiest Llanberis path this summer as taking our 12 year old with us! All good fun 👍 Congrats on not dying!
Cracking video Jake, did the crib 3 years ago and yep as you say, it’s not for the faint hearted. You’ve got to have a head for not just heights but exposure as well. If you do, then it’s a cracking hike. I would argue that The Aonach Eagach ridge in Scotland is tougher though. If you’ve not done it, has to be on your bucket list. Anyway, until the next video, all the best
Agree but Aonach Eagach is a grade 2 scramble and usually only attempted by people with a bit of experience, crib goch is more dangerous for the simple reason your novice hiker will attempt it.
Best way to get up Snowden. It's so tough Jake did it without his famous crocs or flip flops haha. Joking aside, fabulous climb both. Spot on with the kit review. There are some silly people out there. Keep Loving the Adventure Gez. Only way to be. Safe Travels ❤️
Have to disagree with you dude... it ain't that bad. I did Crib Goch with a large backpack that acted like a sail in the wind (seemed like a good idea until there was no turning back!). But that experience was quite mild compared to the Cuillin Traverse -- which is really manic even in good weather. I did Crib Goch back in the 80s. Too many tourists now to go anywhere near Yr Wyddfa/Glyderau. Try the Rhinogydd: Not as high but way more 'out of the way'.
Oh there’s harder routes in the uk for sure, ones that ya none Mountaineer/ climbers have never heard of. They’re more dangerous but only more experienced People climb them, crib goch is renounced for being dangerous because a lot of people go up it un prepared 🤙
Is that Jake saying to Rab "Your jacket is great but I've had it for years and worn it out so please send me a new one"? Joking aside, I had a mate who was on the the Snowdon Mountain Rescue Team for years and they often had to go up to get dead bodies off the hill. The stupidity of some people pissed him off because the rescuers had to put themselves at risk because knobheads had gone out in really crappy conditions. The other thing he used to moan about was people going out in camouflage gear, how the f#ck can you find somebody in trouble if they're wearing hard to spot kit.
its not the most dangerous route in the british isles lol not by a long shot. its the route with the most incidents because of its visitor footprint. i assure you. there are far more dangerous routes.
That's what I've been saying, it's attempted more by novice walkers/hikers unlike say Aonach up in Scotland, saying that though it absolutely deserves respect and is extremely dangerous if your inexperienced or unprepared.
I've seen ppl attempt it with a baby carrier ffs... Check the weather, take decent kit and use common sense. With patience, the silent majority can enjoy this route and reap the rewards.
You can wear proper gear, have food to sustain you, info on directions ie: maps-compass etc...but the one thing you definitely cannot pack in your rucksack..COMMON SENSE!!!!! you either have it or you don't..and best advice to those of you who DON'T...keep away from mountains please🙏 cos some poor sods have to come n rescue you, or worse still..bring your body back down for your loved ones to deal with...😐

I thought he said most dangerous, not hardest.

Legend mate! 🫡
Great view from the edge very rocky and one wrong step and you are gone, thanks for sharing.
Wow fab vid …that was some climb …beautiful scenery and great advice for kit !! You are both so funny together 🙌🤗

Thanks so much Lewis 🙏🫡
Climbed many times via pyg track, at 57 id need a helicopter for that route, epic channel mucker
Fantastic content Jake, good job.
Hi mate Excellent video as usual be Safe.❤
Hearing the way you say the Welsh names is a lovely addition !! Great video
I've climbed snowdon a couple of times now on the PYG and Miners, but wouldn't try Crib Goch! Going up the easiest Llanberis path this summer as taking our 12 year old with us! All good fun 👍
Congrats on not dying!
Great video guys. Brave of you both. Glad you made it safely.
Great video Jake… probably not one on my (vertigo suffering) bucket list 😂
Well you both made it safely, the video came out today! 🤣 You and Becky are better men than I am on that razorback, not me!

Brill mate! Thank you! That one’s definitely on the cards soon! 🤘
There are more way dangerous routes, especially in Scotland, Aonach Eagach and the Black Cuillin are way scarier and more dangerous.
Agree but Aonach Eagach is a grade 2 scramble and usually only attempted by people with a bit of experience, crib goch is more dangerous for the simple reason your novice hiker will attempt it.
Superb again, Jakey boy!
Great video once again Jake

The old crocs mate! There’s my next challenge! 😂
Where did you connect your gopro for this?
My broon eye was twitching throughout!.........The views are amazing! 👍❤🤘
I remember doing that route as adventure training with my junior leaders regiment, was scary as a 16 year old..
Sent a donation. Hope you get enough for a new down jacket 🙂
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it Margaret 🙏😊
That was extremely kind of you Margaret 😇 trust some will come back to you in time🫶
Loved this
It's a grade 1 scramble, and an easy one at that. Bristly Ridge is way harder as is Tryfan North Ridge.
I've done tryfan north ridge and crib gich,Tryfan more technical yes but crib goch made me a lot wobbly and the exposure is well worst.
Very impressive climb. 👏🏼👏🏼
What lightweight gloves?
I use a rab pair, they’ve been discontinued now, but I’ll link similar when I get a min :)
Hey Jake lad, great content as usual. What mic is that for the GoPro? Great in wind. Cheers lad.
Cheers mate! It’s the media mod for the hero 10 :)
With Nav skills like that, you sure you were in Recon with the KRH? 😂
Good video, fun but real knowledge
Nothing but love brother 👊🏻
😂😂 it was a quick turn round! 😂 much love mucka!
Nice one 👍💙❤️
As soon as you said I think it’s over there 🤦♂️😂😂

@@JakesJourneyMate Surely then, the route isn't dangerous, it's the people? Darwinian evolution still applies!!

I mean if they see! 😅
Mate, it’s carnage ain’t it! Hopefully some people get the hint from this vid & don’t risk it! Or just go prepared!
Madness! 🤘
Never lost , just geographically embarrassed, I was looking for the pips on your shoulders as you bimbled the wrong way at the start 👏👍

Send it into Rab and get it repaired! Much cheaper than buying a new one.
Glad I’m watching,not walking it!😲
You need to go do the Cuillin Ridge - now that’s a full scale scramble and not many tourists venture up there.
The best ridge scramble in the UK
Aonach Eagach is another one of my favourites 😎
Yes! To add to the list, I think An Teallach has to be up there. Especially if you stick to all the pinnacles
No no no no you nutters 😂 fair play
yeah man
Jesus!!!!!😢
I've seen ppl attempt it with a baby carrier ffs... Check the weather, take decent kit and use common sense. With patience, the silent majority can enjoy this route and reap the rewards.

👍🏼🚐🏔️👫
Well done guys, not for me 😂
pepsi is not the same as coca cola #sadtimes
It’s far from the most dangerous route in the U.K. ….
Most dangerous in regards to access & death rate 🤙
