Brad / Jon watch and react to, Roy Orbison - Only the Lonely (Black & White Night 30): • Roy Orbison - Only the... by @RoyOrbison - Розваги
Roy kept the full range of his voice right up until his death age 52, highly unusual.
Elvis was once asked how it felt to have the greatest voice ever known. He replied...."I don't know, you'll have to ask Roy Orbison"
Roy passed in 1989, aged 52. He had a stunning voice. RIP.
He was one of the great ones, and this is a beautiful song. I want to point out, though, that his backup vocalists in this concert are as noteworthy as he is. Backup singers include:Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, J.D. Souther, Steven Soles, Bonnie Raitt, K.D. Lang, and Jennifer Warnes. They were all there to show their respect and admiration for Roy, and I'm sure it was thrill, both for them to backup Roy and for Roy to have such accomplished vocalists singing backup on this night.
I’m listening to your review as to Roy Orbison I’m 79 and in my car I have the 50s and 60s and I must say Roy Orbison all of his songs each and every one I have to turn up a little louder than the rest. There’s so meaningful heartwarming and my lady also loves his singing. God bless this man and yes he should’ve lived much longer God bless his soul. 🙏🙏🙏
LOVE the song, sounds so beautiful!
He truly was the best 👌 .
A legend in Texas.
One of the reasons i think Roy Orbison was underappreciated was because he was a shy, timid man. He didn't do much self-promotion.
Actually, we of the era were either Elvis fans or Orbison fans. Elvis described Roy as the greatest voice EVER.
i loved both . i have many original albums of elvis from those days and a twin album of roys greatist hits RARE album i have yet to see another one like it i have had for 40 years or so ..not one scratch on any of my albums ..
I know Roy Orbison for ''Oh, Pretty Woman'' first, then i learned ''I drove all night'' is his, then ''Only the lonely'' and last that he was Traveling Wilbury. I love him, but indeed, i don't listen him often. I heard that Elvis actually said Roy was the best vocalist.
End of the line by Traveling Wilburys made me teary eyed few times because you realize Roy died before song was released.
Elvis said the same thing of Tom Jones.
You guys would love Roy's In Dreams from the same concert.
You won't understand how much he was enjoyed by this 80 yr old woman unless you hear Pretty Woman!

Roy Orbison singing for the lonely
Hey that’s me and I want you only
Thunder Road (B. Springsteen)
No auto tune either
It's almost impossible to pick out my favourite Roy Orbison songs. I had the privilege many (many) years ago of seeing him live and he was incredible. If you've never heard "Blue Angel" or "In Dreams" you'll love them. Apologies to all the Elvis Presley fans but he was never one of my favourites - no dislike, just not a favourite
how lucky peeps were to have a mozart in that century
