I lived in Japan for a year because It was something for school and I got to live with an amazing couple who have the cutest house ever and it was so clean and when I got back home the first thing I did was clean the house because it wasn't clean at all
I can imagine the four legged climb up the stairs, spill your ramen into the sink for lack of counter space. Then slip off the bed stairs and pass out on the wooden floor
Kukadoodles omg I was thinking the same thing! I was like dang if that was me I would be shaking mostly when she was on the ladder showing us the loft lol.
a large wooden cutting board that spans the length of your sink would allow you to have some counter space that doubles as the cutting board that it is! :)
Hello Teh! Thank you for your comment. You are absolutely brilliant!! Not sure how we never thought of that... Will definitely look for one as we're sure it would come in handy! Cheers!- Thomas & Tracey
Hi Malin! Thank you so much for your support and comment! The dryer has saved us so much time when doing laundry, we absolutely love that thing!! Maybe you can be the first one to bring that technology back to Europe?! ;) - Thomas & Tracey
I dont know where you live. But i live in the netherlands so thats europe and its Pretty normal that a washing machine is in the bathroom or a seperate little closet for a washing machine and dryer
Imagine returning tired from work and to have to climb such steep stairs, every day. On the other side, you dont need gym membership, you are forced to do cardio everytime tou enter the house.
This is the nicest Japanese apartment I've seen! I think it's because it looks slightly more western like I'm used to and that makes it seem cosy and more like a home. I love the loft bedroom as well, see that a lot in Japan.
Japan is waiting for you! There are many great designer type and modern living spaces :). Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the time to leave us a comment! - Thomas & Tracey
Dvni Omds Ik this comment is olddddd but American houses are so much better than UK homes - the houses here will be like 450k for a crappy 2 bedroom house while in America u can get a VERY good house for that price
very cool minimalist apartment!!! I love that bathroom. Maybe a folding table kept near the kitchen would provide some more surface for preparing food? : )
The newer apartments are very nice! I have been viewing apartment videos for a few months now and I can see how designs have improved and modernized. Thanks for sharing
Hello! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a comment :). If you watch at 2:23 of this video, we store our clothes in the white Nitori cabinets to the left and to the right is a closet that is spacious enough for both of us! Cheers! - Thomas & Tracey
I really like Japanese style of using timber flooring in the toilet instead of tiles. It makes the toilet looks so much cleaner and more comfortable and it feels warmer too.
Great Apartment! I really appreciate the nice calm non jittery camerawork! The last home tour I watched actually made me physically sick and I had to stop watching it!
I love your apartment! It's so spacious even though the apartments in Japan are usually very small. This filming was also the most steadiest i have seen in a long time. Lovely video and keep on going!
Hello from Greece, nice tour! Regarding lack of kitchen countertop area for meals prep, chopping etc. you could attach a piece of plywood above the staircase, oposite the fridge. Again using some special tape by 3M you could avoid drilling. Have fun!
Thank you so much for the great ideas! We have since bought a removal rack thingy to put on top of the sink where we would then put our cutting board on. :P The small space has sparked so many creativities and we really enjoy it! It's not bad after all! - Thomas & Tracey
wow so cool! One of the better looking apartment tours ive seen from others living in japan. Love how much technology you have. Loft is a very cool idea too
I LOVE your little apartment its simply & tastefully styled. I wish they had the shower dryer systems in the West great for those of us that don't have large houses with separate laundry rooms. Thanks for sharing
I enjoy the fact that you both opted to be minimalistic. You must have a very edited wardrobe. I'm curious to see how you cook in such a small space. You mentioned that you guys have to be creative. Would you be making a cooking video to show us how it could be done? When my husband and I visit Japan and rent apartments we always marvel at how compact life can be.
Thank you so much for your support and comment! That's a great idea! We will try to film one when we get the chance ;)! We always admire how creative Japanese living is, it's almost like a work of art trying to fit everything in a tiny space! :P Cheers! - Thomas & Tracey
Wow this channel looks and feels like a million subscriber+ channel. I'm super surprised to see 2 thousand subs. I'm super excited to see what you guys do in the future!
I want to visit and eventually live in Japan, so this video really sated that craving for a good while. I really appreciate that you put the prices down on your furniture, too, makes my dream seem more obtainable 💓
Chihiro Tanaka thank you so much for your support, Tanaka-san! We were turned down by a lot of landlords prior to getting this apartment (Thomas talked about it in our first VLOG- struggles of a Gaijin). We are so lucky and glad that everything worked out now! - Thomas & Tracey
Wow! I thought at first it would be too small, but honestly there's enough space for quite a lot of things! You could also set a small space up in the living area for cutting up veggies or putting the fridge, while setting up a small rolling table where the fridge currently is. Then you could have little stackable drawers under it! Wish there weren't so many stairs, but its still really cute.
Hi Katrina! Thank you so much for the great ideas!! Guess we have to go shopping for some now ;)! Also, living and walking everyday in Tokyo has made us pros at stairs.. Now we understand why Japanese people love to relax by taking a bath each day lol :P Cheers!- Thomas & Tracey
At first, I thought it was really clinical (very white and depersonalized) but then, considering how small apartments are in Japan, I think the whiteness and 'emptiness' is a good thing (keeps the space looking bigger, less cluttered and clean). I'm diggin it! Although I could do with a little more plants.
Bunny Hello! Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving us a comment :). A lot of viewers have suggested adding a plant or two! We have since done so and it has been a welcome addition to our apartment. Cheers! - Thomas & Tracey
Looks like an awesome place! As for the vlogs, keep doing you; it's cool seeing a different country through the perspective of another. Especially since this is different to you as well. Anyway looking forward to the next vlog!
whyhannaHbackwards thank you for the support and comment!! I'm so glad you enjoy our videos. Cheers to a lot more adventures to come :) ! Thomas & Tracey
I really like it! I like everything about it, I like how interestingly everything is placed - it makes it cozy without need for "stuff". I really like the colors! The bathroom is just perfect. The kitchen is really nice and just enough, although I would love to have one "square" of a counter to cook comfortably, but that's a small thing.
What a cute apartment! I just discovered you guys and so happy to have found another great channel. Welcome! And can't wait to see more of your awesome videos in the future
Beautiful space. Did you guys buy it or is it rental? Well, about the lack of surface in the kitchen, you could get creative with the space above the stairs (depending on high as well). I envisioned a wood surface extending towards the stairs space with glass shelves to look like it's floating. You can also design a cutting board to fit your sink, with laser cut you can make it work perfectly. Oh! There are also those folding tables at IKEA that is fixed on the wall and has a "arm" under that you use to hold the table open when you want to cook. That or a cabinet beside the shoe rack. You can design it in a way you can pull a hidden extension of the surface, like a second layer of surface hidden in a way you can pull it from the cabinet to cook or eat. You can also plan a whole closet beside your bed. There's a lot of space to hang clothes.
Fernanda Flores Oh my goodness, you are brilliant!! Unfortunately, this is a rental apartment.. so no drilling or any big diy's. But we will for sure take note of the amazing ideas you shared with us!! Are you an interior designer? Because you should be! ;) thank you so much for taking your time to help us, Fernanda! We appreciate it so much! - Thomas & Tracey
Wow! I have the same exact nebulizer from Saje in Canada. I'm from Toronto and I'm looking prospectively into visiting Japan soon after finishing my undergrad degree. I love the minimalism, cleanliness, and atmosphere of this space enormously. Keep up the great videos!

Really cool video guys. Just a couple of questions: 1) How much is the rent? 2) Is that company ok with renting to foreigners, or are there any strict rules regarding rent? Cheers.

Would prefer something slightly larger to accommodate my computer setup, but I would absolutely love something like this. Im in university, studying software engineer, so I gotta have my setup. Great video! I would like to know where did you buy the wooden stairs to climb up to your bedroom. Thanks for the video, it's a very lovely and peaceful full of charm appartment.
Gosh I didn't know there are so many Canadians in Japan. You must all be friends!:-) Anyway nice apartment, bright, clean and tidy. And thank you for displaying the prices of basic household items. That's very informative!

Saaameee
Sophia Sanchez its very expensive though :/
Cute. But the living space could use some live plants. Some green would look nice in there.
That's a very drunk unfriendly appartment 😂
i though the same, was like: "man if i live there and came home drunk don't even make through the firsts stairs"
lol
I can imagine the four legged climb up the stairs, spill your ramen into the sink for lack of counter space. Then slip off the bed stairs and pass out on the wooden floor
That Belgian Girl funny, while I was watching this I was think the same thing. Saw myself fall like 3 times lmaoo
This is the steadiest hand-camera recording I've ever seen :P Great video, hope you guys have a lovely life together in your apartment!

A tip for counter space- use a cutting board that is slightly larger than your sink and put it over your sink! Instantly you get counter space:)

I'm in love with the toilet and bathtub lol the apartment is pretty cute and cozy! 😊
Really cool video guys.
Just a couple of questions:
1) How much is the rent?
2) Is that company ok with renting to foreigners, or are there any strict rules regarding rent?
Cheers.
Nero it’s actually pretty common for individuals or companies who are leasing property to be prejudiced against foreigners. Not that it’s okay, but it is a reality
Nero Yeah I’ve found the in Japan it’s pretty common. Stinks doesn’t it?
Nero yeah. They will even refuse service to foreigners at restaurants
@hi idk what am i doing here Have you gone to all japanese restaurants or renting companies? No. Therefore you can't say that.
Don’t mind me there are plenty of restaurants which will refuse to let foreigners in.
