    Theodore is in a 6 foot x 2.5 foot hardwood table that has a built in pond liner. I was so lucky to have found someone that was selling it on craigslist for 50 dollars. Had to clean it up a bunch, but he's been happy since we moved him into this bigger enclosure!

      That's a good find. I am always careful buying used enclosures out of a material that you cannot clean very easily (like wood) but I am glad it worked out for you.

      I figured that because it had a pond liner in it already that cleaning wouldn't be too big of a deal. Just had to spend an afternoon with some non-toxic/unscented dish soap and really give it a good scrub.
      I'm hoping that within the next 5 years I can move out of Boston and build him a good outdoor enclosure.
      Thanks for the vids, btw, I find them all very informative

      the issue I have with them is not visible dirt, but rather disease illness etc. You never know why the enclosure is being sold, maybe the previous animal died of a disease in there. Maybe that disease survived and will then attack your tortoise. It is obviously highly unlikely but that is why I only buy used enclosures out of glass or plastic which are easy to clean

    A staple gun and some titebond glue imo should be your best friend when u want to make an enclosure super fast. No pre drilling and tiny holes you can fill and never see them. I use the senco guns and Staples I have never is 25+ years had one come apart. It's totally worth the money to get a gun they last forever my oldest one is 20 years old. I also like to use polycrylic on the wood. Once dry it's waterproof and if u do 3 coats it lasts forever. Yes a bit more expensive but it allow a natural wood look while being sealed. Just let it gas out for around 10 days. I use it on all our enclosures (we have a TON of them lol)

    I’m planning on building a tortoise table that’s 45 inch by 15 inch. Is that big enough? Should I do 45 by 20?

    Great video! How long did the editing take 😂

      Honestly, way too long. I'm still learning how to do it effectively but right now, a ten minute video of this sort takes about 4 hours to make in total. That includes recording and editing, but it does not include research.

    If I have a Russian tortoise, this would work well for me correct? I don't live in a very rainy area (California)

    my tortoise table walls are about 12 inches high at most. will a Russian tortoise climb out, or can they climb out? if so do i need to build a cover because i really dont want to do that

    • @RussianTorts
      @RussianTorts  8 років тому

      I already told you that a 1foot high wall is not high enough in a previous comment. I don't mind answering questions but you don't need to ask them twice.
