Does the new Range Rover Sport SV have what it takes to bring down the Range Rover Sport SVR?
Well, we’re about to find out as they face off over the quarter mile!
So let’s check out the stats. Starting with the new Range Rover Sport SV, it’s powered by a BMW 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine (the same engine from the M5 CS, no less!) that can produce 635hp and 750Nm. It sends this power to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it weighs in at 2,500kg. If you want to pick one up today, it’ll cost you around £165,000.
Alongside it, we have the SVR. It’s packing a 5-litre supercharged V8 under the bonnet which can produce 575hp and 700Nm. It’s also equipped with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and four-wheel drive, but it’s a bit lighter than the SV, tipping the scales at 2,310kg. When new, the SVR would set you back around £100,000.

You can notice the chassis improvements during the Roll Race where the old Range Rover is squatting heavily while the new one one is rather stable! Great Video as always!!
I think the older Range Rover model is quite more stable than Range Rover SVR.
It’s new hydraulic interlinked 6D dynamics suspension would be mostly to thank for that, some reviewers have gone as far as saying it keeps the car “too level” in the corners
New suspension working very well
It uses hydraulic suspension that can almost complete reduce any rolling. Not always great while braking or accelerating but very clever in general
Just be sure to get rid of it before the warranty is up

The facelifted SVR has a quieter sound than the original.
This is the facelift version thats why. So its muffled
If im not wrong, the 2016 2017 svr are alot more louder bc they didnt muffle the sound

The two tone of the SVR was really nice though. But I like those climate control knobs on the SV. I think you can push and pull them to change the function.
Exhaust valves were closed on the SVR when they compared the sound at the beginning of the video. Nothing beats the SVR exhaust

Great video! We just did a comparrison video but wasnt able to do drag race unfortunately. Take launch control out of it and there really isnt much difference. For the extra cost, this really should out perform the SVR better than it does.
RR Sport SV cost £165k, insurance cost £725k per annum. RR Sport SVR, cost £100k, insurance cost £600k per annum. Range Rover, drive it like it's stolen, oh wait, everybody seems to be doing that as so many have been stolen!

CLR RS is a kit made by Lumma. It's just cosmetic. There's CLR RS in diesel Range Rovers too.

Would love to see this. Almost bought a Cupra Ateca but went for the Tiguan R instead, Ateca feels more cheap/basic and dated inside and slightly less roomy but I imagine that makes it lighter, though the Tiguan has more power and Torque so would be interesting

The new SVR is definitely better but best to buy a second hand one at £80,000 as you will need the other £80k for insurance.

@Clarkeyrules1 Tell THAT very important piece of information to the insurance companies. As it makes no difference if you are a multi millionaire if the insurance company says NO!! For me, I can get a quote to insure a Bugatti but they just said NO to a Range Rover....

Combining the supremacy of a BMW engine and the brand image of the Range rover creates a true masterpiece, I actually think it's going to lose BMW some sales themselves
BMW doesn't care. They get a slice of the profit and not have to worry about aftercare
BMW used to own Land Rover, and they gave LR herpes.
No sales lost at $189K! Wow. I don't know the BMW X5M price but I don't believe it's $189K. Good god. Better value in the previous RR sport but I do like somethings about the new one of course.
Oh and BMW making money selling that engine to LandRover. That's probably why the price is so high so they can pay BMW and still make a profit. I believe totally sales of the SV will be markedly down compared to previous model due to cost.

One mistake all reviewers make is that the new SV uses BMW M5 CS which is not true..
The true fact is, it uses the S68 engine used in the 2024 bmw X5m/x6m comp LCI, which had the mild hybrid system
I would love to see a comparison between the SV and the X5M comp LCI🙏
