"awesome beams"... those were 2x6s or 2x8s and would have looked horrible if left exposed IMO, it's not like they covered up 200 year old timber...
@@RandomNumber141 Yeah, I get it. You're right. I just like the character it added. It's their house and it looked nice and clean afterward. The open ceiling wouldn't have been as easy to keep clean in a bathroom anyway. If it had been a game room or something, I still think the open ceiling would have looked better.

What beams? Those were dimensional lumber, spaced 16" apart... not typically left exposed like timber beams. It would have looked funny if left exposed
I’d have kept the ceiling open as well. They could’ve sprayed closed-cell foam against the roof sheathing and left it open. I my would’ve looked SO MUCH better IMHO.

Was the white stuff added on thw wood some type of insulation? I have been wondering why so many don't use insulation much anymore.
Yes, thats blown in insulation. First you create a space for it which is sealed around but one hole in the middle. Then the insulation foam bits get blown in till every nook is filled with it. It's quicker than cutting insulation panels to shape and also fits odd shapes. Just whenever you have to get in there again, that stuff is creating a huge mess obvsly…
Since you’re raising the arch support thingies, does that shorten the life of the roof any bit?
