  • Bare Knuckle Pickups Comparison Aftermath vs Warpig - Alnico vs Ceramic Bridge Pickup Shootout & Test In a Mix & Isolated
    Here's my video comparing 2 high output bridge pickups, a Bare Knuckle Pickups Aftermath (Ceramic) vs Bare Knuckle Pickups Warpig (Alnico V) on my Solar Guitars S1.6PB equipped with an Evertune bridge.
    They're both high output humbuckers, however they're very versatile and can do pretty much any genre, specially if you consider their excellent split coil sounds and how good they perform clean or on edge of breakup.
    So, if you're looking for a Metal Bridge Humbucker that can also cover the sounds a more traditionally voiced pickup would, these are 2 great choices. As such, besides Metal I tried playing some Rock, hard rock, clean & Solo/Lead stuff.
    … making this video made me want to try their other pickups even more, I already own the Bare Knuckle Juggernaut (which I love), so maybe the Bare Knuckle Polymath, Bare Knuckle Unity, Bare Knuckle Peacemaker or Bare Knuckle Triptych Rabea Massaad next?
    Hope you enjoy!

    either will get the job done. you can EQ either to sound however you want when they're this close.

    Hey, love your videos. I think they do highlight that as a listener, there's not too much difference. It probably matters more when playing them as you might have a specific sound in your head that one or the other is able to get a bit closer to, or feels different. But as a listener they both sound great, you can't go wrong. Thanks for posting these up!

      Thank you so much mate, appreciate you checking my videos out and very glad you like them! Indeed, using the same guitar the differences can be quite subtle, there's quite a big difference in feel though, but that's hard to translate, I'd say the Aftermath is tighter and more focused in general, more suited for faster playing with a more immediate feel. But like you said, both are awesome :)! 🍻

    The Warpig gets my vote on the riffing, sounds beefier. Less between them on the solo, Aftermath sounds a bit tighter but I couldn't really choose one. Thanks for this one dude, that's as close as possible so far to the kind of distortion I'm looking for 🤘

    Big Fan of the aftermath

  • @jaredt3985
    @jaredt3985 28 днів тому

    Great video, as usual! These pickups are kind of opposite ends of the spectrum imo.
    The aftermath is tighter, drier, more high mids.
    The A Pig is looser, juicier, and more low mids.
    Honestly in my experience, the Ceramic Warpig is the perfect middle ground.
    It takes the Warpig, tightens it up and adds clarity and cut.
    I really do think it’s the best pickup BKP makes.

      @@gabriel_guitar The nice thing is you don’t have to buy a whole new pickup to try it out, if you already have an Alnico Warpig. Magnet swaps are fairly simple to do yourself, or if you prefer you can send it in to BKP and they will do it for you.

    I appreciate the guttural bark the Aftermath seems to have, especially when galloping. The Warpig to me sounds a bit too "controlled" to me, despite its enormous output. However, that seems to suit it during the solo section, very clean! Your playing is excellent, by the way, I'm loving your comparisons!

      Thank you Steve, very cool of you, really appreciate it mate! I agree with you regarding the Aftermath, it really shines on the fast metal riffing. During the solo the Warpig seems to have some extra mojo indeed. 🍻

      @@gabriel_guitar Aftermath or Open core?

    • @gabriel_guitar
      @gabriel_guitar  Рік тому +1

      @@JayDoge it depends mate, the open core is more versatile because of the different voicings, but I still prefer the feel and tone of passives, for metal it's hard to go wrong with the Aftermath :)

    As a Aftermath set owner: Yes.
    Warpigs sound nice, has good split coil sound but Aftermaths are just perfectly EQ'd to be articulate even high gain, they're cleans and split sounds are just icing on the cake.
    great comparison video sir

    I'm torn right now between 4, the juggernaut, the ragnarok, the warpig, or the aftermath. I play mostly modern metal and like to play a ton of pinch harmonics, so a pickup with good warmth, saturation, and growl and pick attack is what I'm after. I usually am a ceramic magnet player but I see the juggs combine alnico and ceramic in the bridge? I like a pickup too that has good growl and like a throaty midrange too it. Like a punchy sound, good bass response tight..lol idk how else to explain haha

    • @gabriel_guitar
      @gabriel_guitar  Рік тому

      Hi mate, cheers for check the video out! I haven’t tried the Ragnarok, but by the description of what you want the Aftermath seems like a good option, the Warpig Alnico may have a bit too much lows and the Juggernaut may not saturate as much. 🍻

    Hi, Gabriel. Just found your channel. Loving your videos.. great playing.
    I am looking to upgrade pickups on my PRS SE Custom 24 and I'm not able to decide between some BKP pickups. Too many choices. I want a very aggressive pickup for the bridge but without sacrificing the chord clarity or the note separation. For neck, i would like something with great lead tone but not too much warmth. I hope i was able to explain my needs. I would want to play modern metal on the guitar.. with downtuned strings.. please give me some recommendations..

      @gabriel_guitar  Рік тому +1

      Hi mate, thank you very much for the kind words, and really appreciate you checking my videos out! I'd definitely consider the aftermath for the bridge position considering you'd be down tuning, and for the neck I'd go with the Cold Sweat, possibly their most popular neck pickup for Leads when it comes to metal, hope that helps mate 🍻

      Nice one Lucas, love the Warpig too, one of my fav pickups. I quite liked the Aftermath on the Solar though, it's a dark sounding guitar so it balances it out, but I can totally imagine it being a big a bit too bright on a bolt-on swamp ash guitar for instance. 🍻
