Im 31, I’ve been playing golf for almost 30 years. I’ve had my junior clubs and 2 sets of hand me downs. I bought my first set of new clubs 3 years ago, the last Nike clubs, and it was the best decision I ever made for golf. The technology is amazing and really pushed me to play more and take the game more seriously while having tons more fun too
...and see this is the entire idea that really bothers me about "fitting", how is it supposed to make that big of a deal that people who have never been fitted much less have never bought a whole set of fitted clubs, would want to go that route because they will enjoy the game so much more than when they play with their "non-fitted" clubs? Here's the thing. If as a complete noob I play golf for even a year, say. Am I really going to enjoy it a lot more if I pay $10k for either lessons or fitted gear? I know for sure that if I had to sink $10k into golf when I first started, just to enjoy it, I wouldn't have been playing for long. The point is that I enjoyed playing golf even though I sucked, badly, for a long time, and i was playing with a $250 set of "custom" irons (PM-II heads on standard-flex steel shafts at $25 each), a generic putter and a $50 driver that i got at a golf trade show.. Since then I've bought one used set of "real clubs" (Titelist) and at least 4 3-woods and 4 drivers each. Over 25 years of playing golf and enjoying it immensely. Maybe 2 or 3 times over that 25 years I really felt that I had to get new gear to enjoy the game because i was frustrated and making no headway in terms of self-improvement, and almost every time that I get that feeling it's that I have to get a better driver or 3-wood. Recently it was a 60 deg wedge and it took me 2 tries to get a wedge that I liked (love, actually). The other 99.999% of the time I knew that I had to improve my swing, my ball-striking and my shot-selection. I just don't see the benefit of getting fitted if it inherently means buying new gear. Then it's not about the fitting, it's about the gear. And I'm not going down that rabbit-hole. It sounds to me like it's an opportunity for the gear mfgs to get players into their "fitting rooms" and give them some advice on both their game and their gear and of course be there to sell them some new gear when they want it. And so how much are they spending to shave a few strokes per round? Are they shaving *any* strokes per round?
Erik- This is awesome. Had no idea your parents lived in Reynolds. I was an instructor at Reynolds Golf Academy (shared the building with The Kingdom) and Great Waters for a few years and LOVED my life until student loans forced me to leave the business. The TM staff bag is still in my garage. Glad your folks are in an amazing golf community and excited for your sticks... that fitting process is second to NONE!

I am sad to say I have very few rounds on those sticks. The process has changed so much! Thank you for sharing the amaaaaazing experience!

I did a TaylorMade lab fitting in Melbourne Australia a couple of years ago, and you are exactly right it is an awesome experience, but sadly i didn't come away with a Unicorn! Great video as always.
Eric I changed from longer PSI irons to a P730 PW to 8 iron then P760 7 to 4 iron ...I too have lost about a club length in distance but I agree the dispersion front to back is so much more consistent. I love hitting full and 3/4 shots with the P730 they look so good behind the ball and the feel and sound they produce is 😍... play well with yours...

I love your videos but I dont understand why you would choose Taylormade irons. You visited Miura and could have been fit for a set of the best irons in the world. So to get Taylormade is hard to understand. The quality and the percision of Muira are far superior to anything on the market today. So WHY TAYLORMADE. I find that hard to understand. There quality is not as good as the Muira clubs. Thanks for all your videos really enjoy them very much.

I love and respect TM(Drivers and Fairway Woods) just yesterday I upscaled from M4 and now have M6(Driver and Fairway Woods). However,as beautiful and advanced as well as Friendly Personnel as THE KINGDOM is...to me the MIURA Fitting was by far THE BEST fitting experience I’ve ever seen and would pay an arm and a leg to experience.To tell you the honest truth,I didn’t know much about MIURA until I took time to watch that video and man ever since that day,I fell in love with MIURA.As is I’m saving up to get myself a set,I’m saving to fly to 🇯🇵 and have that one on one experience with the founder,have already opened comm’s and all is looking good,I just have to get myself there. Was disappointed when I first heard you were signing a club deal to be honest. Felt like the videos and your content would change and you'd be trying to force TaylorMade down our throats. I always have the mindset that one brand doesn't make the best for every single club and that you need to keep your options open and I still think that's the case after watching this video. But I will say this is obviously a huge accomplishment for you and you definitely should be proud of this! Congrats and can't wait to see where this takes your game to next!
I personally hope he still films random videos were he just grabs a set of clubs from a goodwill, and hits a local Muni with some Locals. Those are some of my favorite films he's done.

Hi Erik, great video! Can you tell me how they used the swing data to fit your clubs, other than clubhead speed, attack angle, dynamic loft , spin, etc. that you can get from radar tech?
It is most likely more because they only have 2 places they are booked months if not years out, and if the Pro is coming in then they get the place to themselves so you can have a lot of people doing this every week.

So much fun watching your videos. Was curious, what do you do with old clubs? Young college student here who loves the game, and the goal is to get custom fit one day, but I can’t afford it quite yet. Do you sell them, by chance?
This is the sort of thing I genuinely dream about. Of course, given my skills (or lack thereof) it would be like fitting racing slicks to a tractor, but dammit, I'd still love to do it. And if nothing else, I'd know for sure that my crappy play is entirely down to me, and not my gear. Hmm, actually, that might be depressing...
11:35 I'm missing the "fitting" part. To me it seems more like a training process. But I think that TaylorMade would hope that every golfer can just go into a store and pick out a new TaylorMade driver head and they probably don't even care which driver-head they buy as long as they buy one. But if the idea behind fitting is to match gear to your game then they'd have to have a pretty wide range of adjustment settings on their gear in order to match it to the range of swings out there in the public. But why not start by at least fixing some of the more egregious swing-faults?
Does anyone know if Erik listed his final specs? Head - length and lie? Driver shaft - thought I heard X stiff? Irons - Project X (6, 6.5, 7.0)? Wedges - Really want to know what shafts he went with. Bounce/Grind? Great video Erik!
Your next 6 video should be dedicated to you losing four strokes off your handicap. Even if you have to revisit some of the courses you've been before that would be pretty cool.
I really like your creativity Erik, and i m aware that everybody needs to earn money to live the dream. But a part of me is a bit sad that all those creative youtuber golfer (and other sports) get all sponsored and lose their originality. Peter Finch, Seb, Meandmygolf, etc. etc... visiting factories of adidas & TM are just unifying all contents into big commercials for those companies. I understand the money point of view though. but this globalisation is not a good thing in my point of view.
I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I also think there’s something to be said for brand loyalty-and having consumer confidence in the clubs you’re swinging...and the people behind those clubs. For every staffer you see on TV (or UA-cam) there are probably tons of unpaid hackers trying to match their bags/clubs/hats. You can’t fault them (or Erik) for putting something in the bag that makes them both happy and confident. I doubt Erik is gonna get all billboardy on us, but if he does then that’s ok...as long as he believes in what he’s swinging. There’s nothing wrong with someone sharing what they are passionate about (and if you thought there was then you probably wouldn’t be here).
@@SamBrown76 yeah but TM products quality are below average, their Marketing team is above avg. (specially their marketing budget) and them "buying out" the whole market is not really positiv for diversity on youtube.

11:35 I'm missing the "fitting" part. To me it seems more like a training process. But I think that TaylorMade would hope that every golfer can just go into a store and pick out a new TaylorMade driver head and they probably don't even care which driver-head they buy as long as they buy one.
But if the idea behind fitting is to match gear to your game then they'd have to have a pretty wide range of adjustment settings on their gear in order to match it to the range of swings out there in the public. But why not start by at least fixing some of the more egregious swing-faults?

I really like your creativity Erik, and i m aware that everybody needs to earn money to live the dream. But a part of me is a bit sad that all those creative youtuber golfer (and other sports) get all sponsored and lose their originality. Peter Finch, Seb, Meandmygolf, etc. etc... visiting factories of adidas & TM are just unifying all contents into big commercials for those companies. I understand the money point of view though. but this globalisation is not a good thing in my point of view.

I think everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I also think there’s something to be said for brand loyalty-and having consumer confidence in the clubs you’re swinging...and the people behind those clubs. For every staffer you see on TV (or UA-cam) there are probably tons of unpaid hackers trying to match their bags/clubs/hats. You can’t fault them (or Erik) for putting something in the bag that makes them both happy and confident.
I doubt Erik is gonna get all billboardy on us, but if he does then that’s ok...as long as he believes in what he’s swinging. There’s nothing wrong with someone sharing what they are passionate about (and if you thought there was then you probably wouldn’t be here).
@@SamBrown76 yeah but TM products quality are below average, their Marketing team is above avg. (specially their marketing budget) and them "buying out" the whole market is not really positiv for diversity on youtube.
